Some People are never satisfied.....
Smoke Wagon replied to stavanzer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Good point. Most I’ve ever talked to around here seemed like they just glanced at a pamphlet and read the badges when the new models came in. Makes me wonder if automakers stopped sending informatory films to dealers. -
Yeah, know matter how much restorer you wipe into it, that black plastic will always go back to being faded in a few weeks. I’d go nuts if I owned something like an Avalanche.

Bill, the best way I’ve found to avoid those people is with a can of Folgers. -

That seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me, especially if it’s a car you’re talking about in this scenario. Worst a salesman can tell you is no. It’s part of their job to answer questions about the product they’re selling. -
I’m sure it’s just fine other than the sacrilegious name. Although have you looked into the new Explorers?

Copycat automotive design.

Since when did BMW start using fat rodents for design inspiration? Here, guess which one’s the bimmer: -
Sounds like a question for him, not me.

Maybe by color match he was meaning to say that he wants to paint the cowl body color. Most black plastic cowls are textured, which would not bode ideal for gloss or metallic two stage paint.

Not really, convertibles don’t sell. Now if it was a four door crossover... you would’ve seen a bowtie, a tri-shield, a crest, and a GMC badge grace the front end of it by now. -
I like your strategy. If I get a call like that and I’m not busy, I’ll sometimes respond with voice impersonations. It’s fun to see how long you can string them along while keeping character: “Now you listen to me mister, I own a truck that’s solidly manufactured in the United States of America. I don’t need no gotdang extended warranty and I don’t need some gotdang twig-boy calling to tell me otherwise. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got some propane to sell.”

“We’ve been trying to reach you about your amazon package’s extended warranty.”

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Smoke Wagon replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Went up for a visit to the mom’s house yesterday. Stepdad made stuffed pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon. His cooking is always a good incentive to visit. Night before that the wife made enchiladas and mexican rice. I’m gonna have to slow my roll or I’ll be full for the next week -
What about planting a row of trees in your back yard along the ol’ property line? It would take a few years but they’d make a nice buffer.

At Walmart (at least one store)
Smoke Wagon replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Whatever floats your boat I suppose. When Walmart came to my town, a Supercenter was plopped down over a marsh, necessitating the need for another marsh to be constructed a ways to the south. Many small businesses that couldn’t compete with Walmart’s prices had to shutter, and our downtown became rundown and neglected as a result. Their low prices come at more than just a monetary cost. And that’s a price I don’t want to pay. -

IMO nothing there is worth subjecting oneself to the people of Walmart. -
We all have our own specific tastes. My favorite Avantis are the late II’s with urethane bumpers, specifically the convertibles. Although I particularly enjoy seeing older designs modernized and reworked enough to be competitive with more contemporary designs, such as ‘90-‘93 Mustangs, ‘89-‘91 Grand Wagoneers, ‘90-‘93 Alfa Spiders, etc.

It’ll be just like Mad Max but with Geo Prisms, old Corollas, and moped scooters covered in spears.

While we’ve got the ball rolling, would you mind grabbing an AMT Chevy 454SS pickup kit from eBay as well? I can send you one of my kidneys to help cover the eBayflation cost. Lol

I hope the California Hauler sells well enough. Round2 is sort of pinned between buyers wanting a better bang for their buck and shipping and material costs soaring through the roof.

Thanks for the info Dan. About a year ago was when I was looking at getting one. Another one of those situations where a time machine would be nice to have.? Now I’ve got a kid on the way and the local dealer is only stocked with overpriced used stuff and a few $60-80K crew cab Limiteds, K.R.s, and Platnums, where are what I had in mind was this:
