  1. My buddy Raul Perez gave me this kit 4 -5 years ago. He had already detailed/built the engine and the chassis. Decided it was about time to finish the car. Paint is from an old spray can of House of Kolor "Tru Blue Pearl" Flames are from Slixx Decals Wire Wheels - ? I found some nice "doll house" piano hinges to make the bonnet operational The vents decided to reappear after grinding them off & doing all the trick stuff to keep them from "ghostin' back". I wasn't gonna "Flame-it"...but, It's gone past deconstructing to repair, plus ran out of paint (HOK "Tru Blu Pearl" is no longer available) The Flames help disguise the vents a little...it is what it is Another point...the wire wheels (they were in the box I got from Raul)? Does anyone know 1/16th scale kit kit they are from, my buddy George Mattox needs to know thanx for lookin'...
  2. I've been trying to sell this Revell kit#2365 of the Ferrari 360 Modena Spider for the past 6 years at the NNL West 'cuz consensus was, it's a bad kit. Well if nobody wants to buy it - I guess I'll have to build it. Going in I knew from past Revell - Revell/Germany kits the ride height is kinda "Donkish"...So I lowered the ride height roughly 1/8 of an inch on all four corners. Next was what color? I've done my share of Red and Yellow Ferrari's, don't really like White, Silver, Blue or Black. I was gazing at the shelf of paints and happened upon a bottle of Scalefinishes McLaren Orange...Now that would be different...a Ferrari skinned out in McLaren Orange So away we go... I was pleasantly surprised at how easily this kit was to build, did not have an issue other than you have to be very carefull with the windscreen frame and installing the glass...it is a little on the fragile side So here she is: All in all, I was very pleased with how this model turned out...Ferrari looks good in McLaren Orange Enzo probably would not be happy with it! Thanx for lookin...
  3. Excellent aftermarket resource, never have had a problem with them good stuff, too
  4. I prefer it over the airbrush stuff...
  5. John found a couple of wings in the parts box...with a little modification - got'em to work, thanx
  6. I use both Spazstex (aerosol) and Alclad (aerosol as well)...actually prefer Spazstex over Alclad I've tried airbrushing them both...but just cannot get them to work as well as the aerosols the trick is to put on very, very thin coats...don't bury the parts in paint, ya can never get it on too light have fun
  7. Ed, here's a link to the tutorial I did on making the screens for the intakes, hope it works...I've never tried to link someone to a previous posting on this site http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30800&hl=
  8. thanx, it was a fun-build...went uncommonly smooth!
  9. All done...just in time for the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers IPMS Model Contest this Saturday in Santa Clara, California. 1st model contest I've entered in 5-7 years... ready to move to "UnderGlass" thanx for lookin'
  10. Excellent...I had the pleasure of owning a '74 914 1.8 back in the late 70's took it to Garretson Enterprizes in Mt. View, CA and they did a number on it... replaced Fuel Injection with a couple of Webers, low flow exhaust, massive sway bars and adjustable Koni's w/Pirelli CN36's on all four corners. Autocrossed the heck outa this thing, what a blast! built both the Revell 914-6 and 914 kits lookin' forward to see this one come together thanx
  11. Thought the dampers/shocks looked a little on the "clunky-side" so I redid them with a little aluminum tubing and homemade springs...a little more to scale, I think a few photos of the chassis minus wheels/tires and a few other goodies almost done, thanx for lookin'
  12. some more progress photos... thanx for lookin'... back to the workbench
  13. progress is being made... sway bar struts... front and rear dampers... exhaust system...vroom
  14. Next Project... 1/25th model of the Formula 5000 Eagle Tony Adamwoicz drove at Riverside in 1969 Start with this great kit Decals from IndyCal Tires from Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland (thanx Norm) Found these in the parts box a few modifications to the body, filling in fuel delivery openings, vent on cockpit cover and cut-out in nose exhaust modifications - extending and adding "big pipes" wheels painted more to come thanx for lookin'
  15. I found these on the Pattos Place web page http://members.optushome.com.au/pattosplace/home.html He's in Australia...1/24th decals run about $18.00 plus shipping excellent quality and a LARGE selection of decals...but a little pricey good luck
  16. I'd love to see a model of the GMC "FishBowl" or as we called them: "Silversides". Put in many a mile driving these while employed at Santa Clara County Transit in the late 70's to early 80's A model of a GMC "Scenic Cruiser" or more affectionally known as the "Blimp" would be nice, along with an old Trailways Silver Eagle. Drove these in 1973 and 1974 for YoungLife in Colorado. Not a big market out there, but I think they would do OK
  17. Good Job Art...was good to see both you and John at the show c'ya next year

  19. I'm working on a "How to build Wire Wheels" tutorial...hope to to have it done soon stay tuned...
  20. Picked up this model from the LHS here in Hollister It's a Jimmy Flintstone one-off resin kit... I was not able to find any refence or photos of a 1929 Olds Dirt Track racer anywhere, but my buddy Bernard Kron led me to a website with numerous photos of dirt track racers from long ago.Sorry, I don't have the link to the site, got a new PC and lost the link on the change-over... maybe Bernard will reply to this thread list it. Used parts from the AMT #626 Model T "3in1" kit First thing I had to do was make up some nice wire wheels instead of the wooden spoked ones in the Model T kit... stole the wheels from a 2nd Model T kit, so i'd have enough to do 4 wheels Made a wire wheel jig for a 48 spoke wheel (used the idea from a previous thread on the forum), cut the spokes from rims, shaved rims in half, scratch built hubs and started lacing both rear spokes and then front spokes with 4lb test fishing line... centered rear rim on base, superglued top surface of rear rim then carefully pressed front rim onto the rear rim sandwhiching the spokes between both rims... when glue set, ran a bead of superglue around the perimeter to further seal the spokes in place end result: As most photos of the cars showed open engine side panels, i trimmed the lower hood panels from body... leaving the cast leather straps in place Modifyed the Model T chassis to fit the Olds Body... chassis/engine and drivetrain done... Model Complete... thanx for lookin'
