Always nice to see a Mopar. I never watched the show but I like what you did with the kit. Nice engine bay. This is my favorite year for the challenger, same for the Cuda. great job all around.

One Day 55 Cameo.
happy grumpy replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I agree with you Scott, I build this kit some years ago and unlike you, I did not have the patience to deal with the bed so I took a step side bed from a 64-65-66 Chevy and grafted it on the rest of the truck and you're right , the rest of the truck builds quite nicely. It's cool to see a build box stock. You did a fine job with it especially in one day. That's quite impressive. -

Volkswagen T1 Bus Revell 1/24
happy grumpy replied to ATHU's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
as others have said, absolutely looking the part. The colors are perfect for it. the Revell kit is complex and it makes the painting more difficult because the body is separate and it is not so easy to put together. I built 2 of these and I can attest to that. You did a fantastic job. -
I had one similar to this back in the 80's. I thought I'd use some of the decals in the spare parts box to represent a generic commercial van. I looked at pictures on the net and saw something like this and ... why not ? Nothing fancy about the kit but it goes together without any major issue. Just your average delivery van. thanks for looking.

This was the AMT Louisville coca cola issue. I wanted something different. The roll back bed is scratch built, of course it would not be a real truck if it wasn't dirty. The junkyard near my home back then had something very similar to this . The truck was a Chevy though. Some photos show the side markers on the cab not painted, it has been corrected since then. oh and by the way, the duel truck is next in line for the big rigs topic. I just need to choose the pictures I want to post. In the mean time , thanks for looking.

Lightning McQueen

Doc Hudson would be proud. A really good rendition of a beloved little car. For a snap kit of a fictional character , it has a lot of details. -
Pretty cool, that would get the groceries pretty fast

Nice so far, I like the color

1953 Ford F-100
happy grumpy replied to Dominik's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful Ford. like in real life, black seems to be a magnet for dust. This aside ,the finish is really beautiful. Black is not easy to do. The all black theme looks gorgeous. -
Beautiful olds very nice details, I like the paint. Well done

Beautiful Valiant, unfortunately, we don't see much of these rare old kits. Thanks for sharing this.

This a build I did prior to the duel truck from the movie ( I will post it soon ). I wanted to practice my weathering skills before I took on that project. It was a practice run to see how I could make as close as I could get to the truck in the movie. AMT's big rigs are no walk in the park, the instructions are hit and miss and not being an expert at big trucks, I did my best to put it together. the mufflers are turned aluminum. The hoses are coiled network cables. I don't know if there is a specific color for these. Not sure either about the engine color but I like it yellow. If somebody knows please tell me in the comments. as always , thanks for looking

This is another moebius kit . I love building these kits, they go together so well. So here is another memory of my youth . As for the underside, well , this was the result of winter on vehicles that, at the time, did not get much care or rust protection. I worked in a garage part time when I was young and this was a familiar sight every time you would put almost any car up on the lift. Again , thanks for looking.

MPC dodge pick up 4x4
happy grumpy replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Brian, You got a good eye, I was wondering if someone would catch it. This part was in the kit but what I found odd was the turn signals in it . The grill already has them so I thought that since this kit share some parts with MPC's different year models. maybe somebody mixed up some parts of an earlier year as this was a kit bought at a swap meet. I painted it different color to suggest exactly what you did. nice catch. And thanks for your comment. -
Nice mercury, somehow the center trim and lowered stance make it look even longer . Beautiful build

Great looking charger, the 68 charger to me is the most beautiful car ever designed by chrysler coming second is the 70 cuda. But it's just my opinion. The paint looks fine to me. Great job.

Yes the last picture is the real car. This is a loose representation of a car I owned in 1987. It was brand new, kept it 'til 2000 when it got stolen and totaled by kids who took it for a joy ride. Really loved that car. It had a modest 2.8 L but with a performance chip and the whole suspension replaced with the GTA's, it handled almost like a go kart being much lighter . the last picture is my 1987 firebird when it was a few months out the dealership. I try to build the cars that I owned, so far I almost have them all . The closest I could find was the monogram 1992 formula. The hood and the wheels are different but I back dated the front facia and the rear lens to what they were in 87. A few years before it was stolen, I thought of having it repainted in the same color but without the gold trim at the bottom, but it never happened so at least I can look at what it would have been like. Of all the cars that I owned over the years, this is the one I enjoyed driving the most. thanks for looking.

Really beautiful. It was worth the wait.

Land Rover Series III LWB
happy grumpy replied to mrmike's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You did this kit justice . There is so many things you can do with this kit, but I like the classic, light green we are used to see. I build one as soon as It came out , one of the best kit Revell has ever done, the instructions alone are really impressive. Great to see this iconic vehicle in it's model form. -

Wow, you did an outstanding job on a very unusual subject. I saw the movie and this is pretty much the only thing I remember from that movie. Beautiful
