The Velvet Underground and Nico. I would be remiss if I didn't mention this album. Brian Eno once said that not many people bought this album but most of them that did went on to form their own bands. I fell right into that group. It had to be the early 80s but when I bought it (cassette tape) I started to listen to it incessantly. This was truly a classic.

My condolences. Always tough to lose a pet.

Back before that term was even thought of we used to call it college radio as you could only hear that kind of music on certain college radio stations (I would constantly listen to WPRB Princeton). When it started to gain in popularity the radio stations needed to hang a moniker on it and the term alternative music was born sort of like this is an alternative to top 40 type of stuff. It was great for a while but when watered down bands began to gain traction, like most things like this, it eventually faded away. Fun while it lasted I suppose.

Sadly the greatest generation is starting to die off and the young kids today are too obsessed with their Instagram to even learn what their forefathers sacrificed so that they may have a better life. Thank you to anyone who served over the years. These holidays are more than blowing off fireworks and getting drunk.
