There is a 1/20 scal Fujimi "modern" (-ish) kart out there, might've been reissued recently? They can be found on eBay:
-
I had to Google it, and yup, there's a YouTuve video featuring a Mercury: https://youtu.be/PWWYkxQCFfQ I was surfing around the Kustomorama.com 'site last night which is where I read about the Reactor using Wrist-Twist steering, but the "handles" look a bit different: If if only for future reference, it's good to know that even an oddball kit like the AMT '66 Mercury Hardtop has something unique to offer.

Yes, perfect slammer or curbside build material, this one. The above instruction sheet page is from the '00s issue under RC2, so it appears to have most (maybe all the same?) custom extras as it did back in the day. Might make a good CBP topic, too...

In which other kit are you going to find "Wrist Twist" (was that a thing in the '60s, briefly?) steering wheel parts for a Gene Winfield Reactor build? The Cibie headlights are interesting, but other than that, a '66 Mercury with an axle slot though the center of the engine block is not super appealing. This might be a good kit for the "wait a year or two" list, when it shows up on eBay with a BIN price of $14.99.

I would be surprised if it isn't issued in an Original Art Series box, similar to the recent AMT '40 Ford Sedan Delivery and Coupe kits. Probably this version?:

Renwal The Visible Automobile Chassis
Casey replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will say it- never. 1/8 scale kits are a tough sell regardless of the subject, and the number of people clamoring for a 60+ years old generic passenger car chassis is probably under 50. The price would be over $150 retail, it would be a PITA for production and packaging purposes, etc., etc. Ed Sexton already commented on the difficulties and costs involved with producing large scale kits when discussing the 1/12 Shelby GT500 Mustang kit, so a 1/4 scale generic chassis...never happening, and I think almost everyone realizes it's just not likely to ever happen. Now, the 1/4 scale Chevy small block V8 engine "kit"...yeah, never gonna happen, either. -

I want to say Mark B or Don Sikora or someone else mentioned that both kits were included in some issues a few years ago...I'll do some digging, but nice find either way. You're making a coupe out of that cabriolet, right?

Dodge Monaco to Plymouth Fury parts?
Casey replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Sorry, you're right, they aren't correct for a '77+ Mopar "police" application. -
There are three of those which recently sold on eBay for between $25 and $35, so I'd say $25 is a fair asking price, but if you want to move them quickly, $20 or so should do it.

Dodge Monaco to Plymouth Fury parts?
Casey replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Glad I clicked it. I've ID'd the rear bumper in my parts box. It's the tail lights which really make or break the Fury conversion IMHO. '78 Plymouth Fury: '78 Dodge Monaco: Hard to tell if the clear (good!) rear lenses in the Yodel kit are correct or close to it, though. FYI, the dog dish "Police" hubcaps are garbage in the Yodel kits. Not even close to the multi-holed look of the real thing. The smooth, chrome plated pieces in the 1/24 Revell '70 Plymouth Road Runner kit are the best choice IMHO as far as ready to use covers are concerned. -
Always keep in mind that value is relative to each person, so try to find an average value using Completed Items on eBay (in the same condition as what you have) and start there. Are these the Funny Car kits in the "tin" packaging?

The first step is getting...many different decals sheets. Good to see someone backed up the "I'll buy a case!" comment with photographic proof.

Campers, Toppers, Caps, & Shells
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In your defense the '65 Chevelle wagon did have that funky roof top...tray(?) thing, which wasn't really a rack nor a separately mounted carrier...very strange whatever it was called. -

More kits which included truck bed rail mount caps: AMT Toyota Fire Chief 4x4 Snap Fit: Monogram Chevy Luv Street Pick-Up: Revell's Jeep Honcho "Dude": MPC's '76 Dodge annual pickup kit had the funky half(?) cap: -
It really is a great image. You can even see just how the paint has worn off the "push bar" downtube, the crossed shoulder belts behind the seat, and what appear to be an off-the-shelf bayonet top front shock absorber. What do you suspect those off-color areas on the "tread" area of the left slick are from? Tape glue residue, maybe?
