No, we're not. We discussed it thoroughly in the original '90 Mustang LX topic, and nothing good can come from trying to stoke those flames again. They have to include some type of custom/aftermarket induction system, but I wouldn't expect it to be too radical.

Revell will add a detailed promo-style chassis, and a few other bits like side-view mirrors which were previously mentioned, so it's more than simply printing a box. They may also have some type of agreement with Ford which does not allow Revell to produce and market a model kit of the car until the major U.S. auto shows have finished for the season. -

Nick, I understand you have a personal relationship with Randy Frost of Perry's, but as long as people don't make this topic personal, it's going to remain open. Telling your fellow modelers about your experiences, both good and bad, when buying from and aftermarket company has a LOT of value. Sadly, you're right in stating that Perry's Resin isn't alone, but topics like these in which people provide their honest experiences with various aftermarket companies gets the word out, and hopefully saves people from going though the same negative experience they have. If reading a topic like this prevents only one person from sending $15 and never getting any product in return, it's worth keeping open.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Maybe if the caster offered a dedicated window van body with the insert already molded in place, the drip rails back in place, and a few bench seats. The clear windows might be a challenge, too.

It's coming along nicely, Adam. I remember reading you story regarding this kit, and unfortunately I think I traded the kit I had right before you posted it. I saw two of these (this one and the red Stroh's version) at a swap meet for $10 each, and bought one from which to steal the beautiful Torq Thrust wheels. I never figured out why Monogram decided to add a Mopar K-member and longitudinal torsion bars to a vintage Ford pickup, though.

No, it hasn't...but we should do that ASAP, for the reason you mentioned. I'm not all that familiar with how Fords of that era were painted, so not sure if they are similar to Mopars with overspray underneath or not. Not that we have to follow what the factory did on the 1:1s, but we should discuss it and decide how we want to proceed.

Here's the original issue: I couldn't find any other 1/16 Revell-AG tractor reissues, but this Monogram-branded kit looks to have been a European market reissue?: Original issue Fruehauf Flatbed Trailer: SSP(?) reissue: Is the main (only?) difference between the Kenworth W-900 and the Aerodyne the top of the sleeper? Are the tires in all of these kits the same Michelin tires? Or are the front tires different from the drive axle tires? Are the trailer's tires the same as used on the tractors?

You're penciled in to finish the chassis/suspension and exhaust system, though I don't think the wheels and tires should be permanently mounted yet. I think we'll save that step for final assembly. Fred should be able to update us on the wheel and tire fitment and how far along that step is, so we'll wait to hear from him. Fred still has the engine and is working on it, so I would suggest you leave the forward ends of the exhaust system (where they connect to the exhaust manifolds) loose to allow them to connect once the engine is permanently installed in the chassis. As far I know you should be able to paint and detail the front and rear suspension parts, as well as the exhaust system. I think we'll need to hear from Billy, who is doing the body paintwork, to find out if he needs to paint the chassis/floorpan before you attach the suspension permanently. Jeff is handling the interior so he is next in line to receive the kit, or if necessary, the interior parts. I can't recall if the interior is a tub or builds up platform style (I think it's the latter), but going forward there is going to be some overlap between the various stages and participants doing the work, so we will need to discuss the specifics right here.

It's affected almost everyone in the world in one way or another, but has opened up so many options for model builders-- worldwide sources from which to purchase kits, advice, tips, and suggestions from fellow modelers, as well as places to show your work and view others' work without leaving your home.

Looking at another pic taken by Hans, we can see some of the inserts for the '69 Roadrunner(?) were actually quite small-- some small enough to fit into a pocket-- so it would be a easy to sneak a few out at the end of the work day. Once a critical insert, such as the bucket seats or dashboard is missing, the tooling is essentially useless. I can only imagine how frustrating that must've been for employees at the time, reaching the point where they felt their only recourse was to steal the hardware used to make the kits which eventually paid their wages and sell it for scrap.

Yeah, you really get an idea of just how small and fractured things were at JO-HAN/X-EL during that time period. It seems like they were always barely hanging on, trying to meet expenses, and just stay in business. It's amazing they stayed in business as long as they did.

Round 2 wants to know what you want!

I have to agree, especially if you look at what was released under the AMT label when they were owned by RC2. You can almost predict what is coming from Round2 by looking at which kits RC2 released a decade or so ago. My theory is that the tooling for those kits is already at the molding facility in China, so that saves considerable expense for Round2. If people are going to buy the reissued kits in new boxes anyway, it makes good business sense to follow that pattern. That seems to be the business model for Round2's plastic car/truck lineup for the foreseeable future. In fairness Round2 has dug into the vault and released some long OOP, and hard to find kits like the Depth Charger, Li'l 'Stogie, '78 Pacer, Daytona Transport Truck, as well as giving their racing slick lineup a serious refresh and cleaning up kits which had simply been run to death (AMT '33 Willys, '40 Fords, etc.) over the last 50+ years. I wonder if Round2 or Matchbox owns the tooling for the kits created while Matchbox owned AMT-- kits like the VW Rabbit and Scirocco, and Subaru Brat? I thought I read somewhere that Matchbox put up the development money for those kits, and retained the tooling/right to those kits when they sold off AMT. I'll have to see if I can find that info again.
