  1. Unfortunately every part which touches the body needs to be modified to lower it, then the driver cage part of the chassis touches the roof, and then...you get the idea. These kits are a good starting point, but considering they represent 1972 technology, they could use some changes here and there, even for a '73 car. Not sure exactly the wheels and tires will be, though I expect the fronts to be similar to the ribbed style found in the Revell '50 Olds, Rat Roaster, etc. kits. Not sure they can do that style of wheel with the rear slicks, though, so I guess we'll find out in a few months when the kit arrives. Well, Revell has been releasing kits of both the Hawaiian, Chi-Town Hustler, and Jungle Jim kits since 1973, so I wouldn't expect them to drastically change things up and decide to release a kit of Mike Halloran's or Tom Hoover's White Bear Dodge sponsored cars, even though both are arguably more visually exciting. Slixx released a sheet to do the Willie Borsch Charger when the 1/16 Hawaiian was last reissued, and if you can find one of the 1/16 Pabst Charger decal sheets, you're golden.
  2. You know, that notion did just cross my mind. Maybe we should out the term "rat rod" on the censored list.
  3. Many options in this post: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83153
  4. Don't proceed to the second coat. You need to remove whatever contaminated the first coat and caused the fisheyes. Was the gloss acrylic enamel applied over primer or bare plastic?
  5. As soon as you mentioned it, I remembered the photos Hans originally posted, for which I can't thank him enough. I truly appreciate him doing that, as an inside look at the JO-HAN building is something most of us never had the chance to do, and never will again. More JO-HAN lit found on eBay (I think):
  6. ^^ Your best option for building the fastback hardtop right now. Only a formal roof hardtop body is available in resin currently.
  7. Use Tamiya Pink primer under red.
  8. I think it's a '67, based on the hood "vents":
  9. After. A layer of wax will make the surface you are planning to apply BMF to slicker-- not what you want.
  10. I saw those, too, and saved two of the pics. They look to be mid-late '80s or so?:
  11. I would love to see Round2 backdate the Boss Nova wagon F/C kit into this:
  12. There is plenty of room (and $$$ waiting) for both kits. It's a good problem to have, IMHO.
  13. The slicks and deep dish Cragar S/S wheels are from the MPC Shaker Trike kit. Not really. The tires, at least the Foose version's front tires, have nearly the same outside diameter as the Goodyear Eagle ST tires included in previous issues, so the ride height is about the same. Using the Foose wheels and tires requires the builder to use the inner half of the 15" wheels up front, so that doesn't look good.
  14. Having purchased the exact issue pictured, I would suggest running, not walking, away from this kit. Other than the early Hemi valve covers, there wasn't anything inside I would complement. AMT's horrid Rally GT tires were present, the body character line is so thick it casts its own shadow (no exaggeration-- look at the box art model), and the entire kit has that "meh, close enough" feel to it. The brown plastic color didn't help, either, but even if it was free, I would pass on it, and suggest Tom does the same. The Revell kit is a far better starting point IMHO.
  15. They were married 61 years, and Pat was 79 years old....edited title. R.I.P.

Yeah, that paint is not too shabby. Did you chop the windshield frame/windshield, or is is just resting in place like that? I ask because I have a slightly shorter rear roof piece which was a test shot, so it might work if you want to lower the roof:
  17. Thanks. I thought the same thing might be true with the 1/20 Dune Buggy kit, too, especially since it appeared the box art was already finished, but I haven't seen it anywhere nor any mention of it since NNL East last spring.
  18. Brett, Don, or anyone else who might know, what's the latest on Lindberg? Hopefully the loose ends have been tied up after Round2 purchased Lindberg, and we'll see more Lindberg kits soon. I think the 1/16 Bullhorn T is the only "new" Lindberg kit to have been released since the Round2 purchase news broke last year.
  19. Looks like the new rear wheels will be of the bear claw variety, with American 5-spokes up front, and wider slicks out back, too?:
  20. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?adv=1&product_category_id=103&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=8069&product_type_id=2817&code=&scale_id=&keyword_search=&setPerPage=25&sort=0&search_direction=asc&save_search_name=&save_search=
  21. From what I see in the flyer image, the hood scoop looks a bit "off" and doesn't appear to be the correct Six Pack scoop, and the stock bucket seats are still present, meaning no racing bucket seats.
  22. Thanks, JC. The rear wheels are slightly deeper, correct? They look a bit better than the Monogram Revell 1/24 versions, so good to know what they look like.
  23. I didn't know AMT used the price extension like Revell did, so thanks for that info.
