  1. I suspect many people aren't aware they can buy directly from Galaxie, Ltd. It's a bit of a rarity (at least it was until recently) that you can (could) buy a model kit direct from the manufacturer.
  2. I agree 100%. If the decal sheet works on the Revell kit's body, I'm sure some people will buy the AMT kit for that reason alone.

  4. Soooo, all the other Rat Roasters are just imitating?
  5. I started a '70 Rallye 350 project years ago, and got it 75% complete, so I did plenty of test fitting and found the Jo-Han body and interior tub work very well with the MPC '69 Olds 442/Hurts Olds chassis, engine, and suspension. I recall some massaging was needed at the core support area and bottom of the firewall, but they worked very well together. Yes, the JoHan interior tub has molded in seats and is shallow, but when painted various shades and sheens of black, the outdatedness wasn't all that apparent.
  6. I honestly doubt it, as that car was so unique in so many ways.
  7. "Peaked" means it has a peak or ridge, usually running the length of the body area in question. Here's a Shoebox Ford with a peaked hood: On a scale model, it's usually done by adding a small piece of brass or styrene rod down the centerline, then blending it into the surrounding area.
  8. Chad took and posted pics of the kit's contents in his OTW topic here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69796
  9. I'm guessing the subframe nut pockets were rusted (almost completely) away, and when the car was hit in the RF corner, the entire subframe, and everything attached to it broke free, too? I have a MIB '92 "Demon Eye" prototype Furby I would trade for the rear half. Hit me up with a text, bro!
  10. Unless you plan to use them with the kit's 5.5" wide tires, they'll need to be modified to fit a proportionate tire of your choice.
  11. Think of the finned Cobra oil pan in some the Monogram '65/6 Shelby GT350 kits. The "sump" area is a separate piece, but when put together with the upper piece, the completed oil pan is far from convincing IMHO. The trans looks good, though.
  12. Like these? They are closer to 20" in 1/25 scale, though: The real wheel with a knock-off in place:
  13. This really is a great kit. So far so good on yours, Jared.
  14. Looks like the iHobby show will be back in the Chicago area this year: http://www.modelretailer.com/The%20Industry/Industry%20News/2013/01/iHobby%20will%20return%20to%20Illinois.aspx Related news: http://www.modelretailer.com/en/The%20Industry/Industry%20News/2013/01/HMA%20board%20announces%20new%20iHobby%20Expo%20management.aspx
  15. I'm wondering if you could intentionally design the part so that the final shapes are defined by the eventual polishing medium (plastic beads in your example), rather than the printer itself. Sort of an intentionally "not quite finished" print out, followed by the plastic pellets which would refine and bring out the details by making too wide lines narrower, too sharp edges smoother, and too shallow valleys a bit deeper. Sort of a poor man's way to beat the limits of current 3D printing resolution?
  16. Are the Rat Roaster's portholes molded as one with the hood, or are they separate pieces? Are two hoods included or just one?
  17. Oh no you d'in't! The kit sounds like what we were expecting (cue the Dennis Green presser ), and despite the fact that the 1:1 has so many unique/personal elements, I think the parts donation possibilities alone will make this a must have for many people. Are the front and rear tires hollow?
  18. Ten bucks says the bath fan blades are coated with Testors Gloss Red.
  19. Did you get on your hands and knees and scour the carpet, under the dresser, and up against the baseboard for parts which may have fallen down there?
  20. I don't think anyone has offered them in resin, as they are still pretty easy to find, especially if you prefer the "washed" sidewall versions in the Revell '32 Ford 5-window and Sedan kits. Pics of the earlier version with lettering here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66338&page=2
  21. Greg Fox makes them both, and they are available on eBay. I don't see any currently listed, but if you do a completed item search using "1/16 funny car body" you will find them.
  22. I cannot explain the error in light if this information. ^ That certainly is bizarre on AMT's part. Maybe they planned to update the tooling and it never happened?
  23. I'm not even sure what to think about this one. Is this a legit box? Is that Fidel Castro?? Just wow:
  24. They probably didn't have a complete test shot ready to finish far enough in advance, since this was an all-new kit at the time. I'm assuming they used a Modelhaus resin kit for the box art build. I think they went to the other extreme when they released the "custom" version of this kit, causing many to be turned off by what the top of the box shows.
