  1. Yes, for sure! Gumby Green. ? (Only those of a certain age will get that reference!) Euro influence for sure, and I think I'll continue the theme with clear yellow headlights. The body was dry enough to handle, so I plopped it on the chassis. I really like the "Christmas colors" contrast between the red cam covers and green body.
  2. Shot some color today...Tamiya rattle can Park Green (TS-35) over Tamiya light gray Fine Surfacer primer. Still contemplating second color. I think I'll strip the chrome off the bumpers, and shoot them and the window trim a metallic gray.
  3. Looks like fun! It reminds me of going to the drags long ago, and there was this innocent-looking powder blue Pinto with a built 2.3-liter turbo doing sub 10-sec. passes all day long.
  4. Thx guys!
  5. Super nice! Lovely color, and the piping on the seats is a great touch.
  6. Thank you both!
  7. Nice!! The woodgrain trim on the door panels and console really makes the interior. Is this done with decals, or paint?
  8. A little more progress. Rigged up a cold air induction setup with styrene rod and some heat shrink tubing, shaved a bunch of emblems off the body as well as doing general cleanup, and roughed out a fuel cell with .030 sheet around the fuel tank. It hangs a little low, so I'll trim it a bit. This is a GIANT fuel cell, so the owner obviously intends to do some endurance racing. Underside is none too pretty. Let's just say you'd need a prop shaft with a couple of extra U-joints to make everything line up. ?
  9. Thx...I'm so glad to provide inspiration!
  10. Thanks, guys!
  11. Thank you both!
  12. Thanks guys! Your comments are real confidence builders.
  13. Thank you...it's decent but some areas are a little rough. I made the mistake of doing it too late at night when I was tired, so I tore a bunch of it off and redid it in the morning, with better results. I can't believe how excellent some of the foil jobs are on this forum. Practice, practice, practice....
  14. That Chevelle just GLOWS! Very nice. I just did a model in Tamiya Mica Red, and every dust particle and fingerprint shows up clearly too!
  15. Gotta love those 'Stangs! Looks great in orange. ?
  16. Thanks, TJ! It's my best interior to date. It's nice how this model has big enough window openings to see the interior pretty well.
  17. That's a fun little kit. Your finish came out better than mine! I was putting on the paint too dry and I got a ton of orange peel. I had a chance to do some laps in a friend's Caterham 7 at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield...elemental, raw fun for sure.
  18. Thx, Roger!
  19. Thank you both! Looking forward to getting back into the Impala street/track car, with no BMF involved!
  20. Love it! Outstanding color, and your foil work is wonderful. I'm envious of your patience and extremely steady hand!
  21. Yeah, don't sweat it. As long as you do a dry fit between the interior tub/dash and body, and shave things to fit, it goes together beautifully.
  22. Great story behind the build, and well done! Inspiration is where you find it...everywhere!
  23. Thx, Bill!
  24. Finished up the pretty '53 Stude. I'm such a fan of the lines of this car! I've read that a member of Raymond Loewy's design team (and no doubt Loewy himself) was a fan of the Lockheed Constellation, and tried to incorporate the beautiful arc of the forward fuselage into the car's nose. (I did an autocross once at the Camarillo Airport, and got to pit beneath a Connie's wing, so I threw that pic in here just for fun!). Exterior is Tamiya Mica Red rattle can lacquer, TS-39, over light gray Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, and roof is airbrushed Tamiya white acrylic. Interior is Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2X Heirloom White and airbrushed Testors Light Gray enamel. Kit goes together easily and was a pleasure to build. Hood fits perfectly, which was a nice surprise. Bumpers are a little fiddly to mount, and radiator hose doesn't come close to reaching the radiator...I added about 2mm of styrene rod. Thanks for looking! Edit: I may redo the rear bumper. It has a couple of pegs that fit into the chassis (the way I glued it in), but you can get a better fit by shaving the pegs and gluing bumper directly to the body.
  25. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate everyone who has followed the thread. Wayne, that deeper, richer red is what I had hoped for, but in real life it looks a little lighter. Still, I'm very happy with how it turned out. Will post some pics in Under Glass in just a few minutes.
