  1. I really want to build a shelf layout. Burlington Northern merger erra (70-75) somewhere in rural Iowa focused around a grain elevator. I have all the motive power (modified and detailed 90s athearn blue box) and handful of relevant rolling stock that I tuned up and weathered last winter (thats where I disappeared to and what caused my absence on here). IMHO its way cheaper than a full layout, way more space efficient, and the details can be focused on a hell of a lot more. Ive also seen guys make a game out of it by shuffling up their way bills for cars to go is different places.
  2. So ive been doing a lot of online searching for images of this car and its engine. And as with many vintage drag cars there not well documented and they get canablized or modified for the next car so its not like there still around. I did find some nice photos of the car, obviously they are from different time periods, some have port injection and some dont. The kit has a fuel block for the back so I decided to add it. I also found that the box art for the mpc don garlits engine is a decent reference as well. Besides that I painted the engine orange (why am I telling you guys this, you have eyes), did some aluminum detail painting. And my custom mix of testors paints for the magnesium on the intake and blower. Heres the engine itself. I think some of the silver needs some toutch ups because of pulling it in and out of the frame for moch-up's. Thanks for looking everyone, I am going to buy some Detail Master or Proline braided lines. I cant figure out proline's online ordering and Detail Master has a very user friendly website, I have just heard that Proline is superior. Im also trying to find a good sorce for AN fittings, preferably resin sets. Elliot
  3. Looks great, the midget wheels look amazing on that thing! I watched your videos and event took the time to subscribe, amazing channel.
  4. Spotify released their end of the year 2025 summary of what you listen to this year. Some people say that I have an old soul when it comes to everything including music (im 16) which is something im really proud of. And I think Spotify thinks that as well.
  5. Yeah, the monogram stuff is okay, but a new Round 2 wave would be awesome.
  6. Thats a great question, I would like to know as well!
  7. I would say that once you get into the teenager range they are definitely capable of doing full on glue kits if their interested. I started with revell snap kits when I was around 5 (my dad helped interpret the instructions). When I was around 6 or 7 I remember building my first glue kit with my dad, the revell 67 chevell pro street. Then around 3 or so years ago I started building glue kits 100% on my own when I was 13. Take it from a youngster here who had a dad and grandpa who encouraged me into this. Once they start to get a grip it just spirals and you want to build better and better kits.
  8. I honestly dont think ive gotten 1 spam call ever. And my dad gets a couple a week.
  9. Beautiful engine detailing! If I may ask, what did you do for your distributor? It looks like you put your wires in a bigger diameter wire insulation then wrapped that.
  10. What Walmart did you buy it at may I ask?
  11. Little update. I painted the white letter tires with an eraser and also painted the wheels with silver and blackwash in the holes. I also drilled out the distributor and wired it yellow plug wires.
  12. That's just awesome! I love the low set rails looks.
  13. The thing is that one has lasted my family for a long time. It was also some pretty heavy duty stuff, thats why it really frustrated me.
  14. Scraping off my car after school and my ice scraper broke before I was done. Now I need to get a new one and I had to wait for my defrosters to finish the job.
  15. Very nice build there Bill!
  16. Nice work, is that the AMT or the revell kit you are using? Didn't you use the revell on your previous chevell?
  17. Snow is when everyone forgets how to drive with little to no traction even though they relearned it last year, and the year before that, and the year before that.
  18. Excellent work Dennis as always! Im glad that you could get this group build done and join with the rest of us. Dont forget to post a couple picks in the group builds finished thread. Oh and I love all that color matching on the frame and suspension components.
  19. I just looked at the one I built, I think i moved it forward by cutting open the slot inbetween the 2 wholes that the engine mounts in. I may be wrong about that because I dont have a unbuilt kit to look off.
  20. Ah okay! I once stripped the chrome off a blower from the parts box and it was army green.
  21. I followed Steve's advice on my 63 1/2 galaxie and can say that its a wonderful way to do it, turns out super clean.
  22. I know the revell snap 57 chevy is a good one, the black one on the box art even has decals and stickers so they can practice using decals. Also the revell 33 ford, it is pretty simple but it also has some pretty intricate parts to help practice building with them. One more thing, if you want to get them into simpler glue kits, try any Amt kits that were originally annual or promo kits. They will have the 1 pice chassis for simplicity but also let you learn more skills when it comes to the interior and engine which will be simple but require the gluing skills. I mean thats what most guys on here started with and look how their doing.
  23. Thanks for the compliment, that is one of the things I love most about rails how the wheels just flop over.
  24. Bill, thats one mean looking car, and the wedge channel gives it an aggressive rake without the rocker panel gap.
