I really like listening to all the car themed songs from the early 60s, one of my favorites is "Competition Coupe" by the Astronaut's released in 1964. In the song it describes a Bitchin' 34 Ford coupe, saying how it would beat a flat head powered 32 ford. Just something about it makes me want to build a car based on it. First off, here's the song. It's not well documented so I couldn't find any lyrics. Link: https://youtu.be/zVmGzXfI9z4?si=H-deWb7nAuwVijDP The first thing you hear them claim is that the car has “Lightweight wheels in both front and rear”. This means that it probably has some sort of halibrand or other magnesium/ aluminum rim. If I were to build this car I would definitely go with a halibrand style wheel. They also say “she'll do 140 in 11 or 2”, I take this as doing 140 mph with an 11-12 second quarter mile. That's not bad. Anybody else will have to fact check if that was possible with this build. Next they say “I run an overhead chevy that's equipped to kill with a blower about the size of your flathead mill”. This means they were most likely running a blown small block or w head chevy, personally I would go with the 409 because it's cooler. The blower would probably be a GM style 671 blower sence their comparing it to the size of an entire flathead Ford. Another thing that catches your attention is the statement “She won't even start without nitro sue”. This leads me to believe that the car can be set-up to run on nitro or only runs nitro, so a moon tank would be appropriate. After that the song pretty much repeats. I actually was really inspired by this song and did a moch-up, the rear wheel combo might not be the best, pie crust slicks and smaller window slot mags. I also threw a couple speed parts on a built up amt 57 Chevy 409.

Ford Pro Stock or Pro Street Kits?
FoMoCo66 replied to PHPaul's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree 100% with this, by far my favorite hood for any Ford. I actually cut the teardrop off a 64 tbolt and grafted it onto an amt 63 galaxie hood for an ongoing 63 build, on the real car they are essentially the same piece of sheet metal. -
Ford Pro Stock or Pro Street Kits?
FoMoCo66 replied to PHPaul's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Diddo, planning on doing that with my 64 from the cal drag combo, most of the parts are laid out and ready. If you went this rout it would be super realistic and you could even put a pro street back half on it, It just wouldn't be the best for a super crazy build. If you want that I would go with the Lincoln kit. -
Thanks for all the comments guys! Means a lot. This is a small update, but an update at that. First off, I didnt really love the headers in this kit so naturally, I made my own. This also required me to rework the exhaust ports on the cylinder head. So I filled in the notches with some styrene then covered it with a very thin pice of styrene. Then after some sculpting, drilling, and primer it looks like this. Here's the result of the fenderwell headers, they dump on the ground instead of out the side like on the kit. Also went with a flat white for the headers, I thought it started in the 70s, looking at some period gassers and photos, aperently not. Looks like Im good for my early 60s erra build. I also got a lot of the engine components in some paint. I did a cool technique for cast aluminum. Learned this from the Luka Cee YouTube channel, spray the part in primer, than mist some silver over it, lastly some flat clear. Here they all are drying on the paint stand. Thanks for looking! Earlier this week I complained about how my suggestion Playlist on Amazon Music was broken and not playing any music I listen to. Well, I have been trying it every day and today is the day that it is fixed. Looks like it self healed.

I swear im not starting this one yet, got to finish some others first. Im just playing around. And yes, thats my work bench snack in the background 😋. -
I use Amazon music for listening to music I'm my car and while at my bench, usually I just pull up the playlist of songs they recommend to me off of the songs I listen to. A couple days ago it started playing Spanish covers on random songs and Japanese techno music, NOT my 60s surfers rock, 50s rock and roll, and 60s British invasion rock. In now have to hunt down why this is happening and possibly a new playlist.

Hey man, nows a better time than never, you know what I mean . The kit has a lot of really good vintage speed parts in it. One wierd thing about the original is the wheels, they were all the same depth all around (like 2 sets of rear wheels). This is the older coke release of this kit so it has the Gasser wheel combo that I think might be my most favorite kit wheels ever! Wait, why am I telling you this, you probably already know it . Anyway, thanks Ace!

I got the front suspension really close to completetion tonight. The axle is glued to the springs, I still need to add some u-bolt detail though. Next up, I took the kit steering link and chopped of the piece that connects the spindle to the steering link, that means I had to make my own that is attached to the spindle. All that was left to do was pin the steering link. Now they all function together, and I'm proud to say the geometry all looks correct! Thanks for looking Elliot Hamm

Thanks man. I really like the look of the moebius 65 4 pot hilborn style injection and scoop, and what do you know, it fits perfectly 👌.

Thank you very much Dennis. Glad it looks right to more than just me. I also totally forgot to mention the running board delete, good eye🧐.

What did you see on the road today?
FoMoCo66 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw this little 34 ford tudor yesterday. Photos blurry because it was a quick "oh BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH" take. -
Cat got other of the house at around 7 last night. Keep in mind, she's a fully indoor cat never goes outside. Didn't realize it for a bit, then we did, found some doorbell camera footage of her meowing at the door. The family had decided to go to sleep for the rest of the night because she used to be someone's outside cat a long time ago. In the morning she came up to the window that was open and started meowing pretty loud, when I opened the door she walked over to me so I scooped her up and brought her inside. Found a couple of burs on her, she definitely had a quite the adventure. Now I just hope she doesn't do it again.

I just started this amt 40 willys this weekend. I did a couple of modifications to this kit to make it my own. I drilled out the front axle and added brackets to make it steerable, shortened the bed 1/4", and did a lot of sanding on the nose, as well as making the fender 1 peice instead of part cut off at the cab. All of this and it makes a much better gasser stance and aditude. On the engines behalf, I chose to use the Olds mil but had to make a few changes, the blower body (not the ends, those are kit pieces) is from the parts box (just a little longer), that is to fit the 4 pot hilborn style injection from the moebius 65 chevy II, and lastly the blower hat from the chevy II kit as well. Thanks for lookin' Elliot Hamm

What type of water pump is this, it comes in the amt 40 willys gasser. Also, how would you go about plumbing it/ mounting it. There are a lot of people on this forum who know a whole bunch more that me (@Ace-Garageguy) Thanks Elliot

Amt 40 willys pickup. Front axle modified to be poseable and the bed was shortened 1/4 of an inch. I always thought the bed looked a little log for a gasser, it turned out exactly how I envision it to. -

Nice stance, but those wheels just have to go. -
Got a moch up of the amt 40 willys truck. Did a lot of modifications such as cutting part of the fender away from the body and attaching it to the nose and a lot of body line sanding. I plan on doing a poseable front axle, using a different motor (dont know what yet, FE Ford maybe?), and shortening the bed just a tad. I also cant decide on wrinkle wall or pie crust slicks. Sorry for the bad photo, the truck was being held up with white glue and hope, didnt feel like moving it.
