  1. Summer is here. Upper 80's- lower 90's next few days, followed by mid-upper 80' for the next week after that.
  2. As stated, ash would definitely affect flights more than ships. But I would go. Alaska is incredibly beautiful. I was stationed there for 3 years and did have one flight home delayed a day by ash.
  3. That drawing is definitely an improvement on my least favorite generation of Vette. Can't wait to see it Under Glass!
  4. bright orange early '80s Vette. And a Trans Am from this year's "Bandit Run". Fans of Smokey and the Bandit came to town to visit the Cora, the elephant from one of the sequels. But it suffered an issue. After driving behind it for maybe ten miles we caught up to it on the side of the road after we passed through a cloud of blue smoke. Plate number was EST BND.
  5. You will be back at the bench in no time. Just stick with the therapy plan. And if you feel you can do more than they tell you, ask.
  6. I need to start a poison ivy removal business. I seem to be immune. If only I were younger...
  7. Had a replacement and repairs don in Oct. I feel 90%. V.A. paid for it through community care. The problem is the provider's office says I have to request follow up care now that the authorization has expired, when they need to request it. For now I'm just following common sense and listening to my body
  8. Still waiting for the Ollie's here to open.
  9. Vegetable garden weeded and cherries picked. 8 tomato plants I didn't plant, so extra salsa! The downside of the work is now my neck and shoulders say no Friday bench time.
  10. Hot water/ heat and careful use of a bottle opener (I bought one designed specifically for the task) or round jaw pliers. Don't squeeze the metal lid so hard you make it into an oval. Heat will a) soften any paint and b) the metal lid and the glass have different expansion rates.
  11. It is sad that the media has to explain D-Day.
  12. temp and humidity are the same: 70 degrees, 70% humidity.
  13. Don't know why, as a Ford guy, I bought these Chevies. All are up for trade: Box of '66 malibu pro-street parts, no rear axle/ suspension, damaged pillars on complete body, extra body from a flip front version 5 Rrevell-ogram '67 427 corvette roadsters, parts off sprues, no decals. 3 molded in red and two in white. Some paint started '72 Chevelle rebuilder. combination of two partial kits. AMT/ Ertle. Revell '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman, Street Burner edition. sealed inside. Interested in anything non-Chevy, or show cars.
  14. I can't comment on price, but that was one of the first few kits I built back when it was a brand new kit.
  15. I always clear over decals to seal them. I've found on my first builds that I did not seal them, they became fragile overtime. As for the comments about sponsor decals looking painted on, it depends on how much clear you apply. Alight coat or two will seal them and still leave the edges visible. Bury them in clear coat and they will look painted on. One other thing to consider is whether the vehicle is wrapped. If so, the sponsor logos may be part of the wrap and not stickers.
  16. I had a bird fly into a window during a cold snap a few years ago. I lined a box with some old towels and put it in it. It flew away with in 30 minutes. All I saw today were weeds and about 30-40 locust trees sprouting in my lawn. I've been traveling so the birds didn't get fed and the lawn didn't get mowed.
  17. Bandit 1, In case you are wanting to source parts, that red coupe is a '37 Chevy. The extra cab, fender, and blue dual axle trailer were all from a version of the AMT '53 Ford pickups.
  18. I have never built it. not a fan of tri-fives. Like it has been said it is an old tooling that cannot compare to a newer design. Build what you want and have fun.
  19. USPS. I placed a hold on my mail for a few days. They were supposed to deliver it today, but didn't. When I went in to pick it up, I got a smile, batted eyes, and "I just work the window" along with my mail: insurance claim paperwork, live plants, and medication refills. nothing important. And people in general.
  20. Thank you. I believe a Briggs and Straton. It's a JD mower bought from a big box. That headlight tip is worth a shot, since she had a wire repaired before. And the headlights are just a position you need to turn the ignition through to shut down. I'd get rid of it, except the bigger, prograde zero turn scares her.
  21. Still trying to trouble shoot an electrical problem on a riding mower. I repaired the broken wire that was shorting out to the block. But now it is blowing the main fuse when it is shut off. Any thoughts? It starts and runs fine, even multiple starts without moving it. But shut it off after mowing and you have to replace the fuse before starting it again.
  22. And if you do have to sand and polish, you might consider a tip I've read somewhere on this forum to support the "glass" with a lump of clay to help prevent it from cracking/ breaking.
  23. Cleveland heads on a Windsor block has been done by engine builders, but it involves a lot of modification. I think Hot Rod had a story on it.
  24. You could try turning the tuner quickly back and forth. It might be enough to remove any oxidation. Or you could try to find some tuner/ contact cleaner. When you opened the case did it smell real bad? If so, it probably needs more than cleaning. As to what irked me, my surgeon's office (non-VA) refuses to do the paperwork for continued care under the community care program. They say I have to do it. So I hope I didn't do any damage to the repairs when working in the garden today.
  25. Unfortunately, we live in a me-centric world. I don't foresee that changing anytime soon.
