tips, tools for one handed builds
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks everyone. I think one of those PC board holders might help. That and pre- painting kits that don't need foil (slingster, 22 Jr, Jawbreaker, NASCAR, etc.) -
Facing major shoulder surgery in a few months. Any suggestions on tools/ techniques to use so I can continue building? I am working to get anything I can sprayed, foiled, decaled, etc. on a couple of kits. How do I hold a body steady to foil it, apply decals, etc.?

My local library has a 3d printer that can be used by anyone for $5. I am not sure about what printer and resin they use. Just take a memory stick with the files (your own or purchased) and they will help you set it up to print. The limit is no more than 3 hours of print time per print. I plan on trying it next week and will post an update once I do it.

This is how I sand my tires to make them look used...

I've noticed when I use a bolt, washers and nuts that you have check frequently to make sure the nut is not tightening/ loosening due to the drill rotation. -
Like I've said, a fleet side long bed with a 300 is my dream. I'd settle for a long bed kit and add aftermarket 6cyl if necessary. The flareside interior is correct to duplicate my truck. I may break down and get one from that auction website. I'll be trying my local library to print the styled steel (3d cults file, and $5 to print them) rims next week. My local library has a 3d printer. they help you set up the print job. I'm not sure what printer or material they use. They do limit prints to no more than 3 hrs. per print job,

I would love to see a long bed again. although prices on auction sites are reasonable, for now anyway.

Looking For Info On This Trailer
rattle can man replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
the 4-wheel trailer that pivots was in the Fireball 500 kit. I remember thinking it did not make sense to pivot the whole trailer instead of just using ramps -
future/ pledge alternative?
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
my Future was stored in a cabinet in the cool basement. It was at least 5 years old (likely closer to 10) when I got rid of it. I'm not sure on that particular BONA product. I use their floor cleaner because it does not leave any residue/ build-up. -
future/ pledge alternative?

That yellowing in the bottle led me to get rid of it while I was on a model RR binge for the last year. -
I found aplace that I can get a 3d print file from and car print the at my local library.

future/ pledge alternative?
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you. Am I correct to assume same application technique? I thought it was gone. I saw some Pledge Acrylic floor care on a popular shopping sit listed for $99 for 32oz bottle. -
Do any of the re-released trike kits have useful parts for kit mingling? I've never bought one, but have been seeing them at reasonable prices lately

future/ pledge alternative?
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have visited almost all of my local stores 4 wally worlds, and multiple grocery stores, both national chains and locally owned. I have not been able to find Future/ Pledge with Future/ Pledge Acrylic. Has it been discontinued? is there an alternative? -

I'll eventually jump in with a Ford in a Chevy. Maybe a Vette.

Gloss vs Satin Clearcoats
rattle can man replied to Mike_C's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
perfect, high gloss is for show cars. in reality, Daily use will take away from that perfect shine Paint fades, oxidizes, and scratches, dulling the appearance. race cars, heavy equipment and commercial vehicles will be lucky to get a wash. so think about what your subject is What bothers me is overdoing polishing and weathering. Examples exist for both, but reality is somewhere in the middle. The majority of the time, minor scratches, texture/ orange peel, (I totally get that texture looks out of place if it isn't in scale and should be polished out) i and sometimes slightly mismatched paint (either from the factory or a repair) are common. Even two of the same color cars next to each other might be slightly different shades. -

F-150 mirror source
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you everyone. Wile looking through my stash for another build, I found that the SuperStones F-150 has the exact mirror and it doesn't look oversize like the ranger mirrors. As for the engine, I think I'll order a stock six from VCG and modify the kit V8 EFI to fit. I have to modify it to six runners instead of four and fab an intake manifold. The air filter housing and intake hoses are accurate enough for me.
