  1. The reason F1 isn't watched more is because it's all over after the first turn!
  2. Or until Round 2 reissues it. Any investment is a crapshoot.
  3. I've been a fan since the early '80s when I saw my first cup race in person at Dover, and I'm still a fan - still watch every lap of every race all year long. Yes, Richard and Cale and David were great drivers, the best at the time, just like Junior and Fonty and Marshall and Ralph before them. Then there was Dale (not nearly as beloved when he was alive) and Darrell and Terry and Rusty, the best of their time. Now there's Jimmie and Jeff and Tony and Kyle, the best right now. It's always been about the drivers. "Win on Sunday-sell on Monday" brought factory support and big money into the sport in the '60s. The only difference is now they're selling laundry detergent and candy instead of motor oil and Chevys. It's the American way to market the heck out of anything that might make a buck. Can Danica make it? Has Junior? As long as somebody thinks they can sell insurance, they'll get the chance. The cars don't really matter. Back in the day everybody ran what went the fastest. Outrun by a hemi? Switch to Plymouth. Fords are bricks? Switch to Olds or Pontiac. NASCAR has tweaked the rules over the years to level the playing field, but so has every other sport. I'll love it until the day I'm planted.
  4. Killer stance, great engine details, miles deep paint. What's not to like?!
  5. Love the Pancho car, Dave. Great job!
  6. If you're gonna do race cars, you gotta do decals
  7. What does anyone figure is a fair price for the whole deal?
  8. I'm guilty of #2. They just don't get it.
  9. Very nice. I can't imagine what it was like to drive one of these things. 1 step up from a go-cart but a lot more powerful. Great job.

Very nice! Great job on a challenging kit.
  11. I built this to look like my 1:1. I was going to do a before & after but sold the car to finance a 1:1 '67 Chevy short-step pickup. So all I've built is the 'before'. I'm working on another as Bobby Allison's Coke Machine NASCAR.
  12. I've only got 1 that I will probably never build. 1/4 scale working chassis by Renwal. It's designed to accept their working V8 engine of the same vintage. I did build the engine as a kid, made a mess of all the clear block parts but it did turn under battery power. I picked it up at a yard sale maybe 20+ years ago and have carted it through my moves. The box is a little worn but everything inside is there in the original bags. There's an awful lot of nuts & bolts! I have seen it on a couple of sites for over $1,000 although I don't know who would pay that much. I will probably never build it because where would I put it?!
  13. AMT NASCARS are pretty basic, go together well. Some of the issues from the '90's had a kind of weird, soft styrene that was real easy to slip up when trimming/sanding/etc. Other than that it's all about the decals!
  14. X2 Nick. I think this is why you hang on to old builds, so you can judge how far you've come. Great job on the latest!
  15. A race car with whitewalls, I love it! Welcome. This is a great place to show your stuff and learn new things.
  16. Here's my '58. I'm doing all the Impalas from '58 up through that I can find kits for. Saving the '59 for last as it's my favorite. The first family car I remember was Dad's '58 Impala convertible. It was a late-model when he got it. He took us to McDonalds the first night we had it (golden arches, walk up to the window, over 100,000 sold!). I spilled a vanilla shake down the rear seat speaker (I was 5 or 6). He was not impressed!
  17. Any 30-50's COE would be fine by me, and a Mack Bulldog!
  18. Nice truck! The Chevies from 60-66 are some of the most popular in the 1:1 world. I especially like that it's a step-side.
  19. Looks good! Nice black paint job. It would take me 3 days to get the bird decal on the hood
  20. This is the gist of it. If it's your "job" (means of livelihood) and you get paid for it, then by definition you are a professional. If you do it for fun, relaxation, stress induction, whatever, then you're an amatuer. There are plenty of amatuer golfers, carpenters, auto restorers, etc. that do better work than some so-called pros. Just because you do it for a living doesn't mean you're good at it.
  21. Nice job, one of my favorite cars. Just watched the HOF special on DW on Speed. He and Junior had a great run with these cars. How did you like the 1 piece decals for the sides and top? They were a bear for me!
  22. Thanks Mike, makes sense once it's explained. I learn something everyday (whether I want to or not )
  23. X2. Great job. Steelies and dog dishes are the best. Remove the R/T stripes and it would be the ultimate sleeper on the street. I love the trunk details.
  24. Way too pretty to be a push truck! Belongs in a car show. Nice job.
  25. Love the high-mounted brake light Nice touch. Used to see quite a few of these in this condition when they were late models. Great job.
