Beautiful looking truck. The sawn logs are a nice touch. These are my favourite model of Chevy pickup. Thanks for sharing. ?? -

No need for a clear coat on that paint job! this is looking really good so far. Can’t wait to see the finished product . -

With big wheels, you’ve got to put something behind them in regards to brakes. I fully intended to scratch build some rotors and calipers from kit wheel backs but stumbled across these Pegasus ready to go items on a recent internet search, so unfortunately laziness took over and here they are painted and glued in place. -
G’day Len, that interior is looking good. ??

Beautiful Beetle. Black with red interior always gets me in. Well done.??
-
Wow! That is smooth. Excellent looking colour.??

G’day Michael, my apologies for the term “replicate” , I didn’t read your original post thoroughly enough to see the original 32 was the inspiration behind the build and the intent was not a full on copy. Probably should refrain from posting here after a couple of beers. It’s still a very clean and good looking build though. ??

Cheers for the engine pic, nice! I like the burnt iron look on the manifolds and the cold air induction pipes have a nice realistic texture to them. ??

Grabber green really stands out! Great looking Mustang. ??

Sounds like the basic kit had a few issues but you’ve brushed them aside and produced a really good result. ?? Any engine pics to follow?
-
A lot of work in that engine bay. ?? Top stuff.
-
I like this a lot, good looking build with a nice set of wheels. This kit does have issues as l found with mine, but you obviously got past them to produce this beauty. ??
-
Cool. I guess with 3D printing you can virtually make what you want.
-
Beautiful detailed build. Once you finish the bodies in the last photo, your display will look like a Plymouth dealership. ??
-
G’day Michelle, interesting concept. If Revell or another manufacturer releases a 2025 Dodge Charger kit then l believe you should build it as your drawing here.??

This is a really good looking Mustang. A simple clean build with attention to detail. Top stuff. ??
-
That paint is like glass. The engine detail is superb. ??

Oh yeah, that’s smooth. Removal of the ribbed Belair side panel trim is a simple but effective touch.

Revell 66 Chevy Fleetside pickup
STU111 replied to STU111's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks David. I guess it stems from my earlier modelling in military aviation, where I’d thoroughly research the subject for as much accuracy as possible. I looked at a lot of images of small block Chevy engines to make sure it looks realistic on my truck. -

Using the engine in the kit, but I’ve dressed it up with a pancake style air cleaner and black valve covers to make it look less stock. Also, I thought I’d have a go at a pre wired distributor for this project, I’ve seen some nice wired engines on the forum and it does seem to make an engine bay stand out. Couldn’t find anything here locally, so I got a bunch of Protech ones from the US, ( you guys have all the cool aftermarket stuff! ) l found it reasonably easy to fit and I’m happy with the results, so I’m going to use them for future builds, especially on Hemi’s and Fords as the dizzy is rather prominent on those engines. Thanks for looking and any feedback welcome. ?? -
Nice Vette. Sometimes it’s more satisfying if a kit fights you a bit and you come out on top as you have.??
-
Great build. You’ve replicated the original nicely. I agree with you on the original rod, it’s understated yet impeccable appearance makes it stand out from a crowd.??
-
Interesting to see one of these Chargers. The flush rear window and headlights not hidden behind the grille certainly makes it stand out. Very tidy build too. ??

That’s awesome. A real 60’s custom. It’s also cool that it’s survived all these years. Thanks for sharing that one.??

G’day David, just been looking through your past XYHARRY tagged builds. You’ve got a great collection there but l took a particular liking to this 55. The beige and white colour scheme looks great, sort of like a period factory colour and sitting nice ‘n low the way l like them. ?? Good stuff.
