  1. This is the AMT 1970 Malibu SS sitting on the AMT 1969 Olds Cutlass 442 chassis. Because of the cost of new kits I’ve become rather hesitant to do more kit bashes lately but this one pretty much fell together. You’ll need to transfer over the windshield cowl and fender edges and trim back the cutlass firewall in order to get the chassis set far enough back against the Malibu’s unmodified interior tub and that’s about it. About a 1 to 1/2 mix of Tamiya X-12 gold leaf and X-33 bronze comes real close to 1970 Chevrolet autumn gold. Needless to say this quick bash will also work for the AMT 1972 Malibu and GTO. Thanks for looking.
  2. Sweet! ?? Looks like the prices are going up though.?
  3. I don’t see it anywhere in the Round 2 AMT lineup webpages. Only a picture of on in the display case.
  4. Thanks for the review. Do you know if those Chrysler small block headers will fit the AMT ‘71 Duster kits?
  5. Yes, you are correct. The now three 2wd 1/2 ton long bed kits in the series are the only ones that include a correct C6. The others include a sprue with a 3-speed top loader and a C4. According to my research, Ford never mated any FE to a C4 from the factory.
  6. A new kustom krusiers series huh? Who would like to see this reissued shortly as another series member? This kit had a ton of cool high perf FE parts in it.
  7. According to Chris’s review of the kit, it does include the correct FE and C6. The six cylinder I showed is from the 1/2 ton short bed 2-wheel drive version but also drops into the LWB trucks. Sorry for the confusion.
  8. Pegasus hobbies in SoCal still has the OOP Model King/Moebius 1966 short wheel base F100 for the price of an in production kit. Great service, great price. Thanks to them my Moebius F-series collection is now complete.
  9. The 1/2 ton 2-wheel drive long bed versions in the series include a correct C6.
  10. That’s a really nice rendition of that engine. Much better detail than the kit supplied six. With a little effort the flaws in the kit supplied six can be corrected.
  11. It is an FE which was available in a half ton F series so yes, it’s correct.
  12. Cool, thanks. They look just like the Ford sport wheel covers from that era.
  13. According to the original sales brochures, an FE was optional on the 67 to 72 half-ton F series. The manual top-loader or the C6 but not the C4 included in the kit would also be correct with an FE. https://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/FMC Trucks-Vans/dirindex.html
  14. HPIGUYS has a video out with the kit test shots and it looks amazing. I note there are both 2 and 4 wheel drive front wheels and rear springs included and also note the grille is for a ‘71 not a ‘72 as shown on the box. Shades of the plow truck. Speaking of the plow truck wouldn’t the substitution of the front push bar with the plow assembly look neat? My plans for this kit involve an unused brush fire truck bed from an old MPC Chevy C-10 kit.
  15. Great! I’ll post a brief tutorial in the pickup truck WIP topic.
  16. That’s a great looking build. May I ask where you got the wheels from?
  17. Thanks DJ. This is actually a second chance redo of a kit I built when I was a teenager in the 70’s.
  18. Thanks Carl! I’ll try and finish her up in the next week or so.
  19. Great to hear! If you or anyone you know ever scraps an old PC or printer, be sure to hang on to the screws. They’ll come in handy more than once.
  20. Thanks Bill. It’s been my dream F-100 since I was a teenager and the stout daily driver vibe was exactly what I was after.
  21. Thanks Tim! You motivate me to get her out of paint jail and on the shelf.
  22. Thanks Dennis! It’s been one of my favorites since I was a teenager.
