  1. Its not the first time i have heard of this happening with their kits. There is obviously an issue with the material they are using. It would be a good idea to contact Cavalier and advise them so they can address it.
  2. I must try that. I find baby wipes are great to have around in hot weather when my fingers get sticky.
  3. You should be very proud of that. Outstanding work with photography that does it justice in every sense.
  4. I think it was Machined Aluminium Specialists that were making a grille insert by itself. I'm not sure of the current availability though as the company changed hands awhile back.
  5. I've been following the progress of this one. From the photos it looks like its going to be a quality kit. The only issue is how much its going to cost. They are talking about MFH money.
  6. That looks great. You've really captured the look of a kit that we don't often see built up. I remember a lot of folks were critical of this kit when the new version was released
  7. I've got nearly all the modeling books and I've found this one from Mark Gustavson to be the most valuable: http://www.amazon.com/Custom-Car-Modeling-Mark-Gustavson/dp/0890243425/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
  8. I had issues with enamel paint not wanting to stick to teflon tape when making a duct like this. I ended up painting a coat of thinned white glue over the duct and then painting it.
  9. By memory the kit cost around $80. The Modelhaus has a website but its currently down due to a family bereavement. http://modelhaus.com/maintenance.html
  10. Thanks for the positive comments guys. The Modelhaus website said the body of this resin kit was made from the Cox Cheetah slot car. As for it being painted black, well that goes all the way back to the 1960s when I was in to slot cars and my mate had a black Cox Cheetah slot car. I couldn't afford to buy one of my own back in the day but I'd never stopped drooling over that black Cheetah.
  11. Very Smooth

  13. This thread reminds me my Airfix issue I purchased new back in the early 80s is still waiting in my do do pile. I have machined a few parts for it and recently got some Zero paint so I need to get serious. This kit looks to me to be very well done and a step above what was being offered from the industry back at that time.
  14. I've just finished off this resin kit of a Cheetah made by Modelhaus. Its a very simple kit that goes together with out any real issues and has plenty of scope for extra detail. I've added a set of Replicas & Miniatures wheels with Fujimi Ford GT40 tires plus some other odds and ends I've tried to replicate the look of the 60s Can Am cars with the intake trumpets.
  15. That combination of colours works great with the farm signage.

This was a typical Tamiya build. Just shake the box and all the bits fell in place. I did change the rims and rear wing plus added some detail here and there.
  18. That looks like a typical Tamiya kit. Perfect stance and really captures the look.
  19. Nice V Dub. It really captures the look.
  20. It sounds like its a similar product to C1 Metalizer and Kosutte Gin San. I have both of those here and while they can give a true chrome shine both have a tint according to the color of the gloss base you rub them in to. I can replicate the shine of kit chrome but I've never matched the colour. This thread covers it well http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28780 I don't think Kosutte Gin San is currently available but C1 Metalizer is available direct from their website. http://www.c1-models.com/c1-metalizer/ This video compares Kosutte Gin San with MGM powder
  21. Nice and clean. Really looks the part.
  22. Teds' Modeling Market Place carries a selection of 1/16 scale parts http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/1-16-scale-1/
  23. X2. They have always set the standard to which others are judged
  24. I'm working my way through one of these at the moment. I've got to agree at how well it is engineered considering it dates from the 60s I believe. You've captured the back in the day look really well. Nice work
