  1. Tamiya Decal Adhesive? Interesting. Can you tell us a little bit more about this product? Scott https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/paints-finishes-60/finishing-supplies-62000/decal-adhesive-87176
  2. It is a great kit but beware anybody buying Tamiya kits from this time period(early to mid nineties) Tamiya had issues with cracking decals. I would not buy these kits unless I could see the decals in person. Shunko Models have been releasing replacement decals for these Alfas over the past few years. I purchased the Bosch decal set and the quality is excellent Hobbylink Japan is still showing the Bosch and Jagermeister sets.
  3. Another option is to use Tamiya Decal Adhesive under the decals. I've just started useing this and have found it works a treat.
  4. The use of yellow as a base reminds me of way, way back in the day when I was a printer we used to use a yellow base when printing gold. It made a big difference to the brilliance of the gold on printed paper..... Just some usless info as I reminisce on my long lost youth.
  5. As decals can vary from each and every company and clear coats vary in how aggressive they are I always place a piece of decal that wont be used on to a spoon then spray clear over that before committing to clear coating my model.
  6. I'd be using the white. Most paints are translucent to a degree with reds and yellows being amongst the worst.
  7. i got a AMT Superstang and a 1000 piece Ferrari jigsaw both still in their original sealed bags. I bought the exact same Superstang kit back in 1970. Interestingly the box says its AMT made under licence in New Zealand.
  8. I've just walked for over an hour to my closest hobby shop to purchase an item that their website states is " In Stock. Ships now " When I couldn't find it in store and enquired I was told " Yeah, we did have some awhile ago. We'll get some more in and have it here by Friday of next week " I guess the exercise was good for me. Good thing I didn't take the car or I'd be spewing about the cost of the wasted fuel.
  9. That one ticks all the boxes. Looks grouse.
  10. I've got the #9180ET here and find them excellent. http://xuron.com/index.php/main/consumer_products/4/80
  11. Another option is Tamiya AS-12 Bare Metal Silver
  12. I still have fond memories of my Binks Wren airbrush that I purchased new back in 1972. I was blown away by its ease of use after previuosly struggling with spray cans. It stood up to decades of use and abuse but was finally put to rest after being knocked over once to often
  13. I built one back when it was first released umteen decades ago and have just got the latest release. Its a straight forward kit that doesn't show its age.
  14. I've got the Midget and Cheetah decals and they are as good as it gets for quality. I'm now really looking forward to this new decal sheet, sounds like a must have.
  15. Now that is a muscle car.
  16. If your pockets are really deep the 1/12 Model Factory Hiro kits are considered to be about as good as it gets. You couldn't go wrong with any of Tamiyas 1/12 range of F1 cars. They start with the 60s Lotus and Honda and end with the 90s Williams They have been around for years and are still the benchmark for 1/12 plastic
  17. I've scored my copy too. I find this is to be one of the few magazines these days to be worth the price of addmission.
  18. I'd be proud of those. Nice work
  19. Thats a nice and easy way to capture the look. Thanks for the heads up. Your top photo shows Revell isn't holding back on the coating they put on under their chrome. I've seen other manufactures do the same. It often surprises me just how much detail can be lost under that coating.
  20. I've found regular lacquer thinners will work but I have had it craze plastic surfaces on occassion. I'd try it on a piece of sprue from the kit you are useing first to avoid any grief. Tamiyas' laquer thinners is ' Plastic Friendly ' and can be used without any issues. Its a great paint remover too. http://www.tamiyausa.com/items/paints-finishes-60/finishing-supplies-62000/lacquer-thinner-250ml-87077
  21. All of Paul Budziks' series of videos on You Tube are an excellent resource no matter what you are building. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrdcVbQE5fUvTKxMbhnN_KQ
  22. Its not the first time i have heard of this happening with their kits. There is obviously an issue with the material they are using. It would be a good idea to contact Cavalier and advise them so they can address it.
  23. I must try that. I find baby wipes are great to have around in hot weather when my fingers get sticky.
  24. You should be very proud of that. Outstanding work with photography that does it justice in every sense.
  25. I think it was Machined Aluminium Specialists that were making a grille insert by itself. I'm not sure of the current availability though as the company changed hands awhile back.
