  1. Foiling sucks - but you nailed it! Looks great dude!
  2. Oh, that soon? Awesome! Where did you hear that?
  3. I really like that ⬆️ Makes me think of a Shelby Daytona, but if Ferrari made it. Interesting story too!
  4. Depends a LITTLE on which washes you’re planning on using - but almost always, no, you’ll be ok. Most of the off-the-shelf washes don’t contain anything that can hurt lacquer, and if you’re using India Ink or mixing your own with water and artist’s acrylics you’ll be in good shape there too. That said, depending on how grubby you’re trying to get something, a matte or semi-gloss clear will help because the washes will apply a little better to them versus a really shiny clearcoat, but that’s more down to the look you’re trying to achieve than any real requirement to do so…
  5. Oh, nice! They have some cool stuff!
  6. Amazon has them for $16 shipped: https://www.amazon.com/AMT-Street-Fury-1958-Plymouth/dp/B08FCML9WM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=PLYMOUTH+FURY+AMT&link_code=qs&qid=1626814685&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-1
  7. First issue did, second issue had a small block... Looking good Dennis! Is your next build going to be from the 70s?
  8. Our very own @Impalow has a nice 3D printed set on his Shapeways store: https://www.shapeways.com/product/D88VAJFSF/woodlite-inspired-headlights-1-24-1-25-scale
  9. Thank you so much! I just ordered some of their CURRENT teal color yesterday but I’m not sure how close it will match without seeing it. I’ll keep your kind offer in mind - much appreciated!!
  10. I really enjoyed being a part of this contest - thanks to all you guys for arranging it! I enjoyed seeing all the great entries too, some really impressive building on display! As an aside, I like these virtual contests - it would be cool if they could be incorporated somehow when in-person shows get running again! I don’t have the opportunity to make some of these contests that are a distance away, but it’s fun to participate in them SOMEHOW at least!
  11. Outside the local Dollar General today - nice and clean!
  12. Another one of these today…really enjoying having a car meet every few weeks that’s a few minutes drive from our house! More pics here, starting with the white Porsche, and some highlights below - good mix of stuff to look at these events!
  13. Jimmy Flintstone vintage modified. Just a simple curbside (trackside?) piece, but I’ve been wanting to build something like this for a while for my shelf…
  14. Thanks fellas! A little more progress… Cut some skinny strips of mask and laid down some simple pinstripes, rather than just have the body all black… Then shot black: Then peeled the masks: Then did some cleanup on the stripes (this mask that I tried isn’t quite sticky enough - need to try a something else next time…) then added a coupla three decals and shot it all with gunmetal Pearl Ex followed by Testors acrylic clear: Was going for a fantasy vintage NYPD livery - the idea of an illegal street racer in police insignia amused me… That’s in the dehydrator baking now ready for polishing in a couple of days; meanwhile, painted the bed and started detailing that with some woodgrain: Got some more painting to do on that bed, but it’s a start…need to start painting the suspension and wheels this afternoon so I can start assembling the frame. More soon!
  15. That's a REALLY good tip, thanks buddy! There's plenty of jars of stuff formulated for lexan RC car bodies on eBay, but I haven't tried that over styrene so I'd prefer something I'm a little more familiar with. I'll check that out!
  16. Been watching for one of these (the full detail version rather than the snap kit) at a decent price for a while…grabbed this one one on the bay for fifteen bucks: Another one for my Boyd collection…need to find some Chezoom Teal paint for it now!
  17. Man, that hood fit is horrible...
  18. Thanks buddy! Thank you too! I actually just used regular Tamiya styrene cement in the jar with the orange lid…but I gave the outside of the seam a good thick coat too to hopefully seal that seam up. It seemed to work ok! That’s a good idea!! I haven’t built one of these before so I’m (kinda) trying to build it box-stock-ish to see how this kit goes together and what to watch for…but I’ve also got ideas for like 10 more (11 now ?) so a more detailed version will be coming down the pipe I’m sure….is there a particular kit you like that has a decent big block? Little bits of progress here - trying to get some major components in paint so I can start actually putting some stuff together. Shot the engine and frame in Testors metallic blue: Then painted the bits I forgot the first time… Got the body straight enough to start laying down some paint, so tonight I shot one last thin coat of primer, followed by Createx pure white base, followed by Pearl Ex macropearl: This thing is actually going to be black with some white graphics, but it’s way easier to paint black over white than white over black… Not a bunch of progress, but excited to do more on the body next and see if I can hit the idea in my head…more soon!
  19. I never saw that box art before - that's cool!
  20. That's the name! I couldn't remember it, but yes! Curt makes some really nice looking wheels! And yes, it would really add to the look of any of these!
  21. Who was it here who makes those awesome little wire wheels, with actual wire? Those would look cool on one all of these! And, admittedly, probably double the value of the build, but still...
  22. A truck delivering something to my place of work today was also hauling this airport tug - it’s called an Eagle apparently. Not super exciting, I know, but exciting enough for me to go poke around it for a while and check it out…
  23. Atlantis is doing such good work with these old kits - its so cool to see this stuff come around again.
  24. It’s such a joy to see a real craftsman doing amazing work like this. Thank you so much for sharing the process ?
  25. This thing is parked right inside the gates of our local junkyard, and I pass it twice a day commuting from work. I keep thinking how much it should follow me home…
