  1. I know ethanol is less efficient than gas, but I'm surprised they're not pursuing that avenue rather than electric vehicles. Seems like it would be an easier transition (although I'm no expert...)
  2. I'm going to shoot some tonight so I'll post pics if it works how I hope (and there's no real reason why it shouldn't, I don't think)...I'm wondering if the flake will be larger and more visible than the Pearl Ex that I usually like, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them!
  3. Huh! I never tried that before - I should get some to mess with! Thanks buddy!
  4. Mailman (woman? person?) brought these today - set of mica pearl powders. About $11 delivered, which compares favorably to Pearl Ex’s sets...guess we’ll see if they work as well!
  5. I love what you did with those window cranks - clever! Who makes the mould putty?
  6. Nice! I knew a guy with a pro-street’d 50 pickup, back when pro street was a thing. Keep meaning to build a replica of that thing someday...
  7. There’s some GREAT entries - spent an hour or so this evening going through them all (at least, the ones that have been posted already). So much eye candy!
  8. Outstanding! That 8-track is so well done you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a ‘geegaw’ from a kit! Looks GREAT!
  9. Oh nice! I’ve been watching for one of these - I’ll be following!
  10. That’s what I figured, yeah! Gonna strip it down and see if it has a piece of a geode or something stuck in it, or a really dirty comm. Came with a whole bunch of rocks tho! ??
  11. Picked up this lil’ rebuilder from the local Goodwill for the grand total of 49 cents: Sure I’ll be able to have 49 cents worth of fun with it somehow... Also, grabbed this for a couple of bucks...wondering if I can tumble aluminum parts to give them a satin finish - or maybe tires to buff the shine off them? The motor doesn’t spin so I’ll need to do some disassembly and see why it’s not working...looked basically brand new when I opened it though, so hopefully it’s a simple fix...
  12. They banned all the stuff I’d like to see from a show like this ?. That said, if they can get enough people to attend who have cars that fit that specific interest that they have, good for them!
  13. Those are trolley kiosks - all but one of those were removed from that bridge (which is the Queensboro / 59th St bridge) when they stopped running the trolleys in the late fifties. There’s an interesting article on them here: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/queensboro-trolley-kiosk They’re really beautiful - and over 100 years old now. Here’s that same place today: You get a better view from the cable car across the street, which is a fun activity to do if you’re ever in the area (and you can use your regular Metrocard to ride it as if it’s a bus or train)
  14. Left work today and saw a coupla cool cars in the park opposite - they were having a little Friday afternoon car show! More pics here...
  15. Pfft, those kids aren't even really playing those instruments
  16. I really like that gold color - looking forward to seeing it on there!
  17. The Levi's ad that I keep seeing lately is an insta-mute for me. It explains that people are wasting the world's resources by buying too many clothes...so you should buy some Levis and that somehow solves the problem?! That's about as hypocritical as when the food delivery service Grubhub used to constantly pop up ads asking me to donate towards meals for the poor. You're a FOOD DELIVERY COMPANY (who charges me 10-15% convenience charge for ordering, and takes 20%+ from the restaurant) worth four billion dollars - YOU donate some meals to the poor! I am the poor! ?
  18. With the timber prices as they are now, that car's probably worth Veyron money ?
  19. Paging @3dscaleparts(or anyone else with the right skills ?)
  20. It just occurred to me today that this could be a GREAT project (and a decent seller) for one of the 3D print manufacturers...
  21. That's a great tutorial - thanks for sharing Roger!
  22. Absolutely outstanding work on this - really enjoying this thread!
  23. Interesting! I’d love to see a WIP as/when you get around to building this one, Kurt!
