  1. A little more progress today - added the pinstripe to separate the colors...it looked a little unfinished without it I thought: ...and got the whole lot in clear! Just gotta wait until I can polish it out now ?: Meanwhile I’ve got plenty more to do on this, so more on the interior and mechanical bits as soon as I’ve done it ?
  2. Absolutely beautiful! Love all the detail - it’s going to look really impressive when it’s done ??
  3. Thank you both!!! A little more progress on this one - I didn’t like the tuck and roll interior that the kit came with...at least not for this build. It’s really cool and looks good, but I wanted a real smooth simple design for the fabric pieces and the interior as a whole. I cut some new interior side panels first up: Then added some simple flat ‘fabric’ panels, nice and clean, nothing show-y: I added a mounting peg for a photoetch door handle, and then whilst those were drying I did some googling for cool street rod steering wheels. You think Revell was inspired by this Boyd wheel when they designed this kit? I cut a little ‘Boyd’ logo horn button for the kit wheel - I know it’s “Boyd’s” on the example above but that sounds dumb to me so now it’s a “Boyd” wheel ?‍♂️? It’s kinda hard to see in that pic, and I had to use a Macro lens on my phone to pick it out, but hopefully a black-wash when it’s done will make it easier to see. Finally, I made a little plate to mount on the floor for the power window switches (which are engraved onto that plate and REALLY hard to photograph ??) and the shifter then made a shift boot - just need to figure out a shiftknob and paint and assemble it all now! More soon, soon as I’ve done more!
  4. Thanks buddy! I love Tim’s work so if he likes it that’s a cool bonus! ?. Aside from some of the changes I’ve made because I wanted to (rather than needed to), this Roush engine does fit really well! I’m pleased with how simple it’s been to kitbash it in there. Small update from this morning (literally...) - making these tiny Ford graphics. I had the idea that I wanted it to say Ford on there somewhere, but not a straight Ford logo and figured something that looks like it was signwritten would be cool. That ended up being easier said than done...original plan was to cut a mask and just paint it, but to get it the size I wanted was nearly impossible with the vinyl mask I use because it’s so thin and tears so easily. I tried five or six ways of using the mask but didn’t get anywhere with that, so I got the thinnest vinyl sheet I had and cut them with that instead. Came out ok, eventually ?. I’ll clear over these to protect them (they’re REALLY delicate and I don’t want to spent another two hours making and applying them again) and then I can apply the matching pinstriping I want on there ??? More soon!
  5. Thanks fellas! I saw a two-tone custom Harley in a pearl orange and black and really liked it, so I’m going with that for this one...ran out of my wide Tamiya tape so thank God my wife has a lot of Washi tape ? I’m going to add a little signwriting to it too once the black dries, but that’ll be tomorrow’s adventure and then I can clear it! Someone said on Instagram that it looks Halloween-y, and that made me think of the cop cars they have in Sleepy Hollow, which is only about an hour from us: Whilst I’m waiting to do more on the body, I made a little piece to attach to the Roush air filter that comes in the F100 Foose kit - I noticed from photos that it was missing the little lip under the filter so I cut one real quick on the cutter: I’ll paint that separately and attach it further down the line...and this afternoon’s project is seeing if I can make some new interior panels for this thing to better match what I had in my head: More soon, soon as I’ve done more!
  6. Welcome to New York prices ??. Where we live a dollar slice costs $3, so this is about normal ??
  7. Curiosity got the better of me - picked up some Totally Awesome to test out: You know it’s gonna be good if the first item on the list of things it will clean is blood stains ? How well it strips paint still remains to be seen, but it works on chrome ok anyway!
  8. Beautiful paint! Looks great!
  9. Stunning work so far - LOVE builds like this! ? The crackle medium you used on the seats really caught my eye - it worked great!
  10. I like these cars! I’ll be watching!
  11. Works great for me - super fast and all pretty logical! Thanks for all the efforts Dave (and everyone else concerned) ??
  12. Your work is such a joy to watch - it’s looking great!
  13. Thanks buddy! Keeping going!! I wanted a nice pearl orange color for this but all the stores are closed...so I mixed one up: Managed to get pretty close to what I had in mind - and it REALLY pops on the body...more soon! IMG_8551.MP4
  14. Thanks buddy! A little more on this one - got the body mostly ready for paint...removed those external door hinges and scribed all the panel lines to give them some more depth: Made some Supertrapp style tunable mufflers, just because I saw them and wanted to add a little something I’d never seen done before: They still need a little clean-up but I like how they look as an interesting little detail anyway. Then, finally for this morning picked out some taillights - I’m going with the ones from a 50 Ford, but I wanted the surrounds body-colored so I got those glued in place now before I start doing the paint: More soon!
  15. I really appreciate all the info and knowledge guys - really helps to have a good handle on what you’re building so you can actually look at pics of the real thing! Thanks for all the input everyone!
  16. Thanks fellas! I really like how this engine looks in the frame! Meanwhile, today’s project is the exhaust. I was pretty pleased to discover that the Deuce kit’s exhaust ALMOST attaches right to the F100 kit’s headers without modification. The driver’s side fits perfect right out of the box, and the passenger side needed a little 4mm extension to counter the pipes being offset a little on the new block - but it’s really painless to make it work! Going to mess with this some more seeing as it was so easy so far - I had an idea for the mufflers that I’m going to experiment with a little but it’s working ok so far! Need to make new mounts for the suspension linkages and do something to replace the crossbrace that doesn’t fit around the bigger engine but it’s pretty painless and fun so far! More soon!
  17. Love it! And that trick of spraying matt clear over black to add some depth works great! I’ve been doing that myself lately too. It really works well for some reason!
  18. I’ve been wanting to build a Revell Deuce kit for EVER (I know, it’s been out for 20+ years, I’ve had chance...) so I picked one up at Michael’s a few weeks back when I had a bunch of coupons and vouchers and stuff and managed to get it pretty cheap. Then, nice nice lady behind the register told me I could PROBABLY use those coupons again if I wanted another one, long as I did it quickly before their system updated so I picked up one of the Foose F100s whilst I was at it. I really liked the wheels on the F100 and wondered if they’d work well on the Deuce...and whilst I liked the look they’re too big and the chassis would need a bunch of work to make it sit nice and before you know it I’d be into a full-blown project with scratchbuilding and a bunch of fitment issues and end up NOT with a Revell Deuce which was kinda what I wanted to build in the first place. So, back in the realms of sensibleness: I messed with about every wheel and tire in my parts stash and still kept coming back to those kit parts, even if there’s probably 100,000 builds with these already. I like ‘em tho! Something I DO want to kitbash in, to at least make this project a LITTLE interesting is that cool Roush engine from the Foose truck - I haven’t seen that done yet and whilst it doesn’t drop RIGHT into the frame it almost does: The mounts line right up, and all I needed to do to get it to sit level was take a tiny notch out of the front of the floor like so (notched on the top, not notched yet on the bottom, in this pic): I need to thin a fraction out of the electric fan to get pulley clearance, or likely replace it with something better, but it basically drops right in! The crossmember under the frame is another matter, but it’s an encouraging start! So, the plan will be just a nice clean modern hot rod - steering away from a street rod look and more into bare-bones hot rod but with nice modern parts kind of territory. More soon!
  19. SEEE, this is why you need someone who knows and not just do a bunch of Googling to see what you turn up - I found at least a couple of places that called this an FE. Throw in the fact that, like you say, this thing could almost represent an engine made from the 60s to the current day and I soon got confused and out of my depth. Thank you so much!!! Really helpful!!
  20. I searched this but fell down a rabbit hole and came out none the wiser... So, I know the common engine in all those Revell Deuce kits is a 5.0 Mustang engine - it says that right on the box. I THINK I know that it’s known as an FE. Im trying to figure out which generation Mustang engine it actually IS - Ford made a lot of Mustangs, and a lot of variations of FE/Small block engines. Im figuring it’s a relatively modern version, at least for when the kit was tooled (mid 90s) but I hate to assume something that someone else probably knows for sure... Bonus points for knowing what the trans is too...thanks fellas!
  21. Thank you everyone!!! I had so many parts left over from this build (from, you know, not using almost all the kit parts) that I’m going to do another one too - I had a second idea for this theme, and the postponement gave me some extra time to do another one! More on that soon as my $3 eBay body arrives! ?
  22. Thanks buddy! Just a little fun build for the NNL box art category this year! And this one’s about done! Thanks for looking everyone!
  23. Built this for this year’s NNL East common kit category, which is the AMT 63 Impala this year. Lengthened the roof, built a chassis and painted it using about every color I had in my paint stash ? Thanks for looking!!
  24. Thanks buddy! Pretty much done on this one! Was a fun build!
