  1. I feel one of the most important strengths of model building is that it allows and encourages creativity: creativity in technique, design and in choice of subject. This build epitomizes two of the three. I very much appreciate seeing an unusual subject and the guts to build it.
  2. You might try doing a wheel using wire; it could make everything (e.g., painting) easier. Here's a photo of the putty I mentioned.
  3. http://www.kk.org/cooltools/ This excellent website recommends an issue of Make magazine devoted to 3D printing. It sounds like a good summary of where the technique is currently.
  4. Alfa Canguro Cobra Daytona Cheetah
  5. Mr. Borst, I bought (through MagCloud) your book on making a Tatra(fascinating company) model some time ago - it made me think of the Gerald Wingrove books. Beautiful workmanship. BTW, Bondo has a much better product (which you are probably aware of): looks very similar (same size tube) but is a two part putty. Very easy to use, stronger, much faster and doesn't shrink since it is not gassing out like the red stuff. Cleans up with alcohol. Thanks for sharing this build.
  6. But, I thought pimped out trucks are America's favorite rides? Think about the profit margin on something like this. Maybe just a bit of tweaking . . .
  7. Outstanding build! The proportions of the finished model look much better than I expected. Your design is ready for a full size copy.
  8. Wonderful model on all counts.
  9. I took the liberty of posting five pictures of this car under 1:1 photos. I'm hoping Mr. Boyer allows himself to modify the original design, or perhaps cast his model and then modify it. From the craftmanship exhibited so far, I'd guess he can improve this design. I'd suggest a fastback (of course) to help balance the heavy front. Also, I'd lower the tail light panel to lessen the rump-up look. The fangs are over the top in my opinion, and I might do a flush grille with a concave bar painted black across the middle. Just some thoughts. Beautiful work so far.
  10. To duplicate this type of concept rod, starting with a 1/32 body might be the easiest approach. That said, I like what you're doing, trying to create a model of a feasible 1:1.
  11. The new, retro style Challenger headlights are slightly flattened at the top, giving an agressive look. Wait, are you already using this type of headlight? If so, sorry, I couldn't tell from the angle of your photo.
  12. Just my thoughts. Where the side trim splits, the lower section seems to fight with the rest of the design. You might consider removing that portion. This should also lighten the look of the side rear. The grille should look better once you've done the headlights. The current Challenger headlights might help give character. BTW, nice job of improving an awkward design.
  13. Excellent job on one of the most beautiful cars ever created - a real treat to see.
  14. All around top shelf effort.
  15. Fantastic build! For the retainers on the u-joints, you might try wire from multi-strand electrical wire - its extremely fine.
  16. A really nice, subtle period custom. And a great write-up to go with it.
  17. This build shows why I like rat rods: imagination and character. Well done.
  18. Thanks, epi4561, for your kind comment - I appreciate the encouragement.
  19. I'm guessing that zombies (maybe even toothless) are involved.
  20. Yeah, I think the fastback is the purest auto style. I like the 3 box style the least. Hatchbacks and humpbacks are also OK - I've been working on a 1941 Willys conversion to a humpback today, in fact.
  21. Definitely a winner! Maybe a Smer kit?
  22. I'm only posting about half of my WIPs, but this is too good an opportunity to miss. First, based on a junker slot body (I think) D Jag: The prototype Countach N/A (for the North American market, never produced): Backwards Boxster: 300 SL: Predicta: Miura (all vette under skin): BMW Mini: 911: Cobra Bread Van (see Ferrari Bread Van):
