Revell Foose '48 Cadillac de-Foosed
dino246gt replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm shocked by all the negative comments about Foose, I love the car as a 1:1 but as for building models, I don't want to do someone else's custom, even if it's as gorgeous to me as a Foose's design. I want to put my own spin on it, and what you're doing is so awesome, that roof transplant is what I also intend to do! Too bad we didn't buy those Caddy rear fenders from Modelhaus while they were available! I did manage to get some clear red tail lights so I guess I'll try to scratch the small "fins" for them and graft those onto the rear fenders. LOVE the way yours is looking, got any colors picked out yet? -
Looking good, I love these cars, Falcons and Comets!
-
I've always wondered why they never did that in 1:1, looks so natural, cool keep posting pics of your progress please!
-
That is cool, love the headers!
-
Oh wow, that is so cool! (just don't put sidemounts on it like they did with the Seville in the 80s ha ha)
-
I've managed to install the engine, after getting the suspension put together, still a long way to go, but that only means a lot more fun ahead! Next up, wire the fan motors, add the oil pump and lines, detail up, or scratch build the coils and wiring:

Peteski, that will all be under the interior tub, so I didn't bother with smoothing it, maybe I should've, and I still can!.

Wow, I just LOVE the way that looks!! I think 1/25th would be the most sale-able. Love to see it in 1/12th too! BUT sign me up for a 1/25th version!!! -

Kenny B. that one still looks very cool, like what I'd expect to see out in the storage building! Haven't driven it in years but........................... someday! -

Yeah I love it, looks so real, great weathering and that water bottle is a cool touch! -
I had to make my own decals as this kit didn't provide any, and I searched and searched the internet, there's no decals for it, so I made my own. Something that I've always wanted to do but was a bit leery, however, it's quite simple so now I will be making more! If ANYONE ELSE is building this kit, I've made extras of those air box decals.

Did a bit more work on the engine rebuild, well I rebuilt the carbs, yes they were glued with the old tube glue and not sparingly. Plus they were brush painted with Testors bottle enamel! I broke many pieces but that was expected, as I planned to make my own replacement parts, which I've done to the linkages and fuel lines, so far. There's a lot more to go, and that's all to be scratch built, using broken kit parts and internet photos for patterns and references. All of this so far is really only the base since once in that engine bay, only the stuff that isn't made yet will really show, this is all for fun so far and it sure is fun!! Cheers!

I like it already!

I love the way it looks and all the extra details you added! The ONLY thing are the rims, the kit supplied wheels have too much flatness where they meet the tire. I'd substitute rims from another kit, like the '60 Starliner, or even '62 Catalina, paint them to match, (Wimbledon White?) and put the hubcaps on them, but it really does look fantastic. The rim issue is with AMT, not you.

YIKES! amazing!

Fiat Mefistofele Black version 1/12
dino246gt replied to maysula's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Wow, now that's a model to be proud of! Definitely looks like it belongs in a museum, fantastic build! -
The "glass" in my kit is clear blue, not clear, but I think I can make replacements for most of it, the headlights though, well I found that the 1/24th rallye lens from the Subaru kit that I bought for $2 as a parts donor has come to the rescue!

Which Countach is the better kit?
dino246gt replied to JollySipper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think the Fujimi Enthusiast Countach is probably the most detailed 1/24th kit out there! I haven't built it, just looked at it over and over and over, but I DID build the enthusiast M6 and Daytona, they are NICE KITS!!!! -
Pocher Porsche 911 1/8 Scale.
dino246gt replied to Kenny B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I say go for building it and adding details, which should be easier in 1/8th scale. I just got the Aventador Roadster kit, Pocher, and look forward to taking my time and adding as much extra detail as I can. I still plan to build 1/25th and 1/24th most of the time, only hit the large scale once in awhile, when I'm really in the mood. -
Got a bit more done to the engine, having so much fun with this one! Slow going though, but that's okay.
-
I love this project! That windshield can be fixed with very fine sandpaper and Novus polishing compound. Here is an example. I built a road going Testarossa but the kit supplied windows had a slider, which I sanded off then polished clear.

I love this one, keep it going!

Here's the wheels and tires, I got some 1/12th valve stems, and used 3D stickers for the wheel centers, then put chrome rings around them, also peel and stick, then I used the Molotov chrome fine tip pen for the lug nuts followed by Tamiya black panel line wash. The rims themselves are sprayed with Metalizer Aluminum plate. Tires, because they are used, were soaked in dish detergent, then scrubbed with a toothbrush. I think they came out pretty good!

Okay, here's where I am so far on the engine re-build. Started to wire the alternator and starter but just started. Used a couple of 1/24th decals just for interest, they are nowhere near accurate, but they do look pretty cool. It's more work re-building a glue bomb than starting a new kit, but it sure is fun in 1/12th scale!

Thanks for all the pictures, looks great! I've got mine mostly apart and staring the restoration with wheels, tires and that gorgeous V12! Progress pictures soon, cheers!
