  1. Cool gasser. You did a great job on this one. Despite the shortcomings of this kit, I have seen some wicked gassers built from it, and this one surely qualifies. All of these Revell Chevys were a chore, I built a few as a kid, and a '57 hardtop is still unbuilt in my stash.
  2. Welcome to the forum, Paul. Sounds like you are going to be busy for the next while. Cheers.
  3. This would make a cool build. Need to fill the box with brooms and 50 lb bags of kitty litter.
  4. Cheers Steve. A good high-level article on the work of Frank Costin, and great reference photos of the Marcos.
  5. Another vote for the Monogram (now Revell) 1/24 scale muscle car kits. They are simple kits that go together without drama, and look great on the shelf. The same can be said for almost all Monogram kits. A few samples posted below. There are many others. These have been reissued many times with different box art, and most have been released under the Revell name also. If you find a kit to buy and have some doubts as to its origins, post up a question here in the forum.
  6. I don't think they are. I think both cars use the same hood stamping.
  7. It's shaping up very nicely. Great colour. I'm digging it.
  8. Welcome to the forum, Richard. Cool roadster.
  9. Welcome to the forum, Bill, and welcome back to the hobby. Cheers.
  10. Yes, that would be the work of Frank Costin. Below is a bare Marcos chassis. Frank was also the genius behind the Nathan Costin wood chassis. Wood always seemed to me like a heavy chassis material, but in fact they were quite light and very strong. For quite some time now I have been wanting to do a scratch build of a Costin Nathan complete with actual wood chassis, but I know it is a project I would get stuck into and take me ten years to build, to the exclusion of all my other projects.
  11. Nice resto, Helmut. It's good to see these Gunze kits built. Looking really good, especially the back window tint. It's hard to believe just how much difference that makes to the overall presentation. I have one of these kits in the stash. I had been looking for one for quite awhile in the 1990s when I saw an ad in Scale Auto for a hobby shop in the US advertising them for $60. That was more than double the price I had ever paid for a kit at that time, but after much personal debate, I pulled the trigger. I'm very glad I did. I really do hope it ends up on the bench some day.
  12. A Marcos kit would be awesome. Unfortunately, I don't recall ever seeing one in any scale.
  13. Just a couple from the files I really dig this little Gremlin. It's just the way the hot Gremlins looked when I was a kit; spring shackles, slapper bars, and big & littles on Cragars. I notice a 390 badge on the front fender. And then there's these... The green one is a Rebel Machine, too. In case you've lost track, that's four sad, derelict Rebel Machines and the parts from a fifth. When I first discovered these cars in 1984, all five were here, and the one painted blue was a tired runner, and they also had their hood scoops. Some of these photos were taken in 2023 and some in 2006. I return to the site every 6 or 7 years or so to take some photos and see how they are getting on with their long return to the earth.
  14. That is one of the coolest race car liveries I've seen in a long time. Most of the OTT modern race car liveries are just a technicolor mess.
  15. Yes, Testors paints airbrush well. Thin them with Testors airbrush thinner or typical lacquer thinner, or, the preferred choice these days, Mr Color 400 Self Levelling thinner.
  16. Nope. Unfortunately, as Steve suggested above, it is undersized, and not that great by modern standards. The Revell Mustang (with a corrected front end) is orders of magnitude better than this old MPC chestnut. It does have a few cool parts, such as those Minilights, and for anyone building a 68-69 Mustang GT, it has the nicest GT wheels/hub caps I've seen in 1/25. The only decent 1/25 scale alternative to the Revell 69 Mustang is the vintage AMT 69 Mustang. But beware, over the years the MPC Mustang has been marketed under the AMT brand numerous times. Most 69 Mustang kits out there with AMT branding are actually MPC kits in the box. I don't know how many actual AMT tooled issues were released, possibly only the original. If you find one and are in doubt, just ask the forum.
  17. As Scot mentioned above, you need the Revell Boss 302 to get the corrected front end (I can see that yours is definitely not the corrected piece). However, the Boss 302 does not have the Mach 1 quarter panel vents behind the doors (nor the shaker hood, if that matters). To build a decent Mach 1 you will need to combine the front end from the Boss kit with the body shell from the Mach 1 kit.
  18. Nice old Ford. The colours look great in the sun shine. Your windshield repair looks great. The Revell parts seem to fit very well.. Cool old cruiser.
  19. Splendid work, and very entertaining, too, Francis. I always enjoy your updates.
  20. There are probably different ways of going about this. If this was my build, I would trim away the BMF from the inner parts of the window frame, the portion that forms the face against which the glass is placed. This is just for tidier BMF work. Either way, in this situation, I would have no qualms about gluing the glass to well applied BMF. Visible glue is always a problem with window installations such as this. I think I would try clear paint as an adhesive, applied carefully to the window edges. It may also be possible to fit the glass in place first and cleanly flow some Future into the joint. I have a build on the go on which the windscreen fits in this manner. I have been playing with mixing white glue with black acrylic paint to make a black windscreen adhesive, similar to the mastic as used on 1:1 cars. I have done some experiments with the glue mix, but have yet to use it on a windscreen installation. Regarding the rear window, I think I would sand the edges of the glass until I had a nice fit, which mimics well the way in which the glass was fitted to these GM cars.
  21. Cool! I can't think of the last time I saw one of these built. Great save. The zebra interior completes it. Nicely done.
  22. Very nice and tidy Road Runner. Love the colours. Well done.
  23. Good looking Dart, Mike. The 340 Six-Pak is a nice touch.
  24. Welcome to the forum, Lily. East Coast Canadian here, good to see more Canucks on the board. The Ford is looking nice, cool colour. Enjoy the forum.
  25. Yes, very good to hear.
