  1. Yeah, I missed this one, too. That is one awesome Dodge. Man, there's a lot going on there. Turbo Cummins. Great detailing. Great weathering. Great work on the conversion. Very cool style. That's one cool model.
  2. Cool Lincoln. Nice work.
  3. Coming along nicely, TJ. I've wanted to build one of these Revell Woodys since I was a ki Things are looking very good so far.
  4. There are a lot of good Mopar big blocks out there. A few off the top of my head; AMT '71 Charger, Revell '68 Dart, Revell Chargers. I don't know of a decent single plane intake. Most kit single planes I have come across over the years have been disappointing, but they are reasonably straightforward to scratch build if you've got the wherewithal.
  5. True, a common practice, though to be honest, many of them were not much more than a prettied up lump of clay with some bumpers and grill clagged onto it. The ones that were actual cars (though still, many never actually ran) were considered assets by auditors, but once their job was done, had no actual value to the company. To get them off the books, they go under the torch. However, it is surprising just how many of these show cars, etc that were slated for destruction ended up being squirrelled away by employees with foresight who thought they were too cool to cut up, and in more recent decades are now coming out into the light. Especially true as the caretakers of some of these cars, often private collectors, are dying off and the contents of their hoards are being discovered.
  6. Very sad to hear. R.I.P. Gene.
  7. Nice. It would be very helpful, though, if the sizes went up to 7 mm, to cover 7 inch lamps.
  8. Welcome to the forum, Corey. Some fantastic looking paint there.
  9. My old shop teacher once told me, "Don't believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see." In the modern age, I believe this advice can be abbreviated to, "Don't believe anything."
  10. This is looking great. Great period piece. That's going to look cool hooked up to the old Ford.
  11. el cheapo lacquer thinner. Before I discovered lacquer thinner, I always used Testors airbrush thinner with success. I haven't tried the Mr Color 400 self levelling thinner with enamels, but I would think that would be a good choice as well.
  12. Ha, that's exactly what started bringing them to my yard. My neighbour and I both have a few feeders in the yard, and often toss out some corn for the pheasants that stroll through. About 15 years ago a couple pairs of ducks found this loot. And of course, the neighbour and I both welcomed our new guests with some complimentary corn. Word got out, and in a few years there were 30-40 ducks visiting the yard. And they kept coming over the next few years, soon 60, then 80. This year some days are between 100 -120 on peak days, usually bad weather days, but 60-80 can be expected daily. Most show up at dawn and stay until sunset during the fall and winter months, just hanging out in the yard, usually outside my garage door. A safe place to hang out I guess, and sheltered from the wind. And of course, snacks! They are cool. Mostly mallards, a few black ducks, and this year three pairs of northern pintails are daily visitors. I enjoy observing their interactions and behaviours. As we get closer to spring, the males are starting to engage in shoving matches, pushing against each other in a show of strength. Fun stuff. There are lakes and ocean around me, though none of it is immediately close.
  13. Good looking Lincoln, Nathan. The two-tone blue sets it off perfectly.
  14. Beautiful Lambo. That colour just rocks. Suits the build perfectly. And the photos are excellent, too. Interesting, moody lighting that really works with this car and colour. Very well done.
  15. Love the modifieds. Nice looking collection.
  16. Beautiful Merc, Bil. Tidy work. Love the colours. It's a shame that with the chopped top you can't see the interior colour, which I though were particularly cool. Enjoyed the build thread, too. Nice work.
  17. I agree entirely. I'm not sure what oldracer is referring to, but the stuff in the old familiar red & white Testors tube is absolutely plastic-welding cement. Any one who has struggled with ripping apart an old glue bomb, or as a kid, having used too much of it to glue in the windows only to have the roof develop some unsightly divots weeks later, can attest to that. He also suggests it's not available in Canada, but it is certainly readily available on the East Coast.
  18. I bought one of these decal squeegees on a whim when making a large order with HLJ. I actually expected it to be kind of pointless, but it has proven to be a real gem. I was struggling with all of the thin pinstripe decals on a JPS Europa when I remembered this thing lurking in my tool box. It really saved the day, and earned it's keep immediately. It comes out now anytime I am applying a decal larger than a contingency sticker.
  19. Being a race car, are you working under tight time constraints?
  20. Welcome to the forum, Scot. A great place to dive back into the hobby.
  21. Very, um, interesting. Gotta love the creativity. I had seen photos of it before but knew nothing about. Interesting read. With improved engineering and a good bit of stylistic help it could be kinda of cool. I would love to have seen some interior shots and structural details, and would like to know how he worked out the steering for correct Ackerman.
  22. Could be. I always thought it might be more of a chemical experiment. Lysergic Diethylamide, in particular. Or perhaps psilocybin, too.
