  1. In my experience, typical of an outfit that chooses facebook as the platform upon which to launch their business.
  2. Very nice update of this old Monogram classic. Your mods are a definite improvement. The stance is much more in line with how the car should have been built originally. The colours are well chosen, too. Well done.
  3. I don't see a problem there. I would only do it if it's a reputable brand. Then wearable parts like tips and needles are readily available as well as any seals, etc. If it's clean and well cared for, an airbrush can last a lifetime. So, does this mean you will be changing your screen name?
  4. Nice stuff, Jim. Cool project, sticking around to see where this goes.
  5. It's coming along very nicely Daniel. All the details are looking spot on, but then you know that. This is clearly right in your wheelhouse. I enjoy watching your race car projects come together.
  6. Welcome to the forum, Matthew.
  7. Classic!
  8. That's some cool history there. I love seeing photos of actual haulers and trailers, regardless of their type. Not always easy stuff to find, though with the plethora of photo sharing sites these days such as tumblr and instagram, a lot of old personal photographs are coming to light and I'm seeing some team tow rigs for the first time. Good stuff.
  9. Cool replica of one of the most wicked '55s ever built. So much period coolness, and you did a great job of creating it in scale. Love it. Well done.
  10. I use Tamiya polish compounds, starting with Fine if the scratches are fine, then finishing off with Tamiya wax.
  11. Interesting project. Very nice work on the wheels. Huge improvement.
  12. Looking really good, Matt. and so is M. Benoist following his reconstructive surgery.
  13. Cool project, and very nice work. Weathering looks great.
  14. Oh man, that's looking good! Very nice, Bruce. You're cooking up one cool Cobra.
  15. This is looking really good! Everything looks right. Love the headers, and the sliding window is awesome.
  16. A real stunner, Steve. Just beautiful. Colour choices are inspired. Cheers.
  17. Like Greg, I try not to leave paint in the cup more than 5 minutes or so. I paint with a small cup, so there's not much paint in it anyway. If I'm going to be away a few minutes I just dump the paint and blow a little lacquer thinner through it to clear it out. When returning to paint, shoot a couple seconds of paint through before pointing the airbrush at your model to ensure any standing lacquer thinner is evacuated. Something to keep in mind is that of the common types of hobby paints, acrylic is the hardest to remove from inside the airbrush bits once it has set. It can be very stubborn stuff.
  18. The second cool '34 I've checked out this morning. The tire/wheel combo gives it attitude. Love the colour.
  19. This thing is looking great. I'm really digging the direction here.
  20. Cheers guys, much appreciated. I was pleased with the result.
  21. There is this post from a few weeks ago, might have an answer for you. who does custom decals - Model Building Questions and Answers - Model Cars Magazine Forum
  22. Interesting. I never knew this was an option for buying kits. I just had a look and there are indeed some good deals there.
  23. I have a photo of AMX-1 in my collection of internet car pics that rolls on a slideshow whenever I am at the bench. I always though it would be a cool project, and have given some thought to a chassis. As Dave mentioned, the AMT Vega or Gremlin funny car would likely provide a suitable chassis. I have also thought that the MPC Wild Willy Borsche or Pure Hell altereds might work, or perhaps the Atlantis (Revell) Fiat altered, though haven't done any actual sizing up of things to check suitability. This particular car was in fact built on the chassis of an ex-Fiat altered. Any of these chassis will likely require modification to fit the AMX body.
  24. For the last couple weeks it has been worse than ever. 30 seconds to a minute for some pages to load, and often some photos don't load at all. It is every bit as bad as dial-up used to be. The forum has become very frustrating to use.
