  1. I sold my 2001 Monte Carlo last year with the original tires still on it. As has been mentioned, keep an eye on the sidewalls.
  2. If you ever get the chance to go you should do it. I went to the Las Vegas auction in October and had a great time. While the cars are expensive a general admission ticket isn't. I had a 3 day pass for $45. Check out the Dodge thrill rides, free with admission.
  3. Any duty charged on those items Ace?
  4. I recall a thread or two on the forum where members sort of outlined what their hopes and plans were for their built ups and remaining stash when the time came. If the thread can be found perhaps Harry commented in it.
  5. Bought this back on Labor Day weekend. Been a Chevy guy for a long time but couldn't go with the Camaro. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
  6. Seems McCormick's will be opening in St. Marys. http://www.southwesternontario.ca/community/model-building-retailer-relocates-to-downtown-st-marys/
  7. Wait a minute. I thought the time to build the kits came with the kits. I figured with a stash of 700 to 800 kits I'd live for a really long time.
  8. Watched them unload a new limited edition 918 Spyder at the Porsche dealership that is around the corner. Price tag $1.4 million dollars. The name of the owner is still a mystery. Picture from lfpress.com
  9. A new Hobby And Toy Central has opened on Wonderland Road north of Oxford in London, just north of Costco. It has a good supply of Tamiya products.
  10. 25% off at McCormicks.
  11. Mine will end up in my nephew's second hand store.
  12. I got the Mustang for Christmas from my brother. A little more to them than meets the eye. The tire treads have to be shaped into a perfect circle so that the tabs and slots all match up. The underside of the car has to have the wheel wells shaped into the semi-circle again in a manner that the tabs and slots match up. I've spent most of my time looking around the house for items that are the same diameters so that I can accurately shape the metal. Turns out hobby knife handles were pretty much bang on.
  13. $13.75 US is about $17.50 Canadian these days.
  14. Canadian dollar at 79 cents might have a lot to do with it.
  15. Bill Jenkins: '66 Nova - white '66 Nova - red & white '69 Nova Charger FCs: Hawaiian Chi Town Hustler L.A. Hooker If time allows: Pisano Olds FC Pisano Matsubara Monza FC
  16. For some it's all about the model and the finished result. For others that kit is merely a means to an end. If someone is by themselves and they can while away a couple of hours in an otherwise long day then that kit has done it's job whether detailed or not. If someone with chronic pain can get a few hours of relief because their mind is focused on building rather than their ailments then I don't care if the final results are good, bad or upside down.
  17. These threads always remind me of the cartoon where the boy scout is helping a little old lady across the street when she really wasn't wanting to cross the street. I think the old fashion way works the best. Have a question? Ask and someone will answer. Need some advise? Ask and you'll get it.
  18. Builders build for various reasons, some are more invested than others. For some it's a passion, for others merely something to pass some time. For this reason I wouldn't be quick to assume that any missing details were "overlooked" but possibly something the builder just doesn't care about.
  19. I think it depends on the context. If someone is displaying a build as an example of their work then they're probably looking for comments. If someone is displaying their work to demonstrate or illustrate an answer to someone's question then that person probably isn't looking for comments, merely just trying to help someone out.
  20. Look for Pledge Tile & Vinyl Floor Finish. It'll have "with Future" on the label.
  21. Ouch! Our safety guy at work tells us that with a fall from 10 feet it's 50-50 whether you live or die. You might have got off lucky. Best of luck with your recovery.
  22. Maybe it is a Canadian thing. At my local shop here in Ontario the Revell and Monogram kits have been steady in the $22 to $26 range but anything new from AMT (Jenkins '66 Nova) or MPC (Dodge Dart, Malco Gasser) are now pushing $35.
  23. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? Satchel Paige
  24. To each their own. Too many kits in the stash, too many ideas and concepts for future builds scratched out on paper to get to for this to work for me.
