  1. My favorite aspect of Arizona cars is that they don't have a front tag or hardware.
  2. No support of any kind. My body was on its side with the A-pillars facing the rest of the parts
  3. Another fan of the AMT '53 Ford pick up. Love the Alexander Bros shop truck version. I've done at least three of these over the years
  4. After the bath, I like the Mr Clean magic eraser to remove stubborn stuff. Purple doesn't work on everything though. My secondary bath is Brake fluid
  5. Yup, I e-mailed my request Monday. They e-mailed me to say I had to send the actual barcode cut from the boxtop. 4-6 weeks wait.
  6. I got mine yesterday, yay. Anybody else get the folded A pillars?, boo. I predict a bit of packaging will be added to support those A pillars as soon as they get tired of mailing replacement bodies.
  7. I just picked up a bottle of the old standard Testors Chrome. The must have done some work on the formula. It's way chromier than I remember.
  8. I'd definitely pay $15,000 for the real one!
  9. Usually referred to as the "mess" on the bench
  10. So last night on Leno's Garage, jay said that he had built a model of the Orbitron when he was a kid. I've never heard of a model of this Newton/ Roth creation. Has anybody else? IMHO not one of the better Roth cars
  11. I've pre-ordered mine from Tower. I think the odds of this kit being bad are extremely slim.. The gamble I took was also ordering the Dirty Donny Pinball Monster.
  12. The wallpaper on my PC I also have a black and white poster of the PPE parked in front of a place called the Doll Hut. $5 swap meet find. And a scan of what ran in R&C. This was a really quick build meant to irritate the letter writers that hated this car.
  13. A Wonderful World of Wheels reference, Awesome. I saw that in an elementary school assembly, I remember getting a stern look after yelling "HEY IT'S THE SILHOUETTE !" Still love this car.
  14. I saw this one in the air sometime in the mid nineties. It was being flown at the San Diego Air Show out of Miramar. One of those things that you'd never expect to see. Awesome
  15. Thanks, Greg. As I reread my post it seemed a bit showboaty. Not my intention, I just got excited that you referenced the PPE. Love that car and that style.
  16. It's like women, understanding them was never an advantage for me
  17. My rendition of which was printed in R&C two issues after the real one shocked (or PO'd) the nation. I'm pretty sure that was the last model to be in R&C. I sent it as a dig at the model car haters and the PPE haters
  18. What Goofy? I'd totally drive it just like it is!
  19. The hood has been pie cut, I call it wedge sectioned. The cab is mildly chopped and the cowl has been smoothed. I think the biggest obstacle to stockness would be the altered wheel openings.
  20. I never really got into the "Wierdo" thing. Back then the Hawk stuff struck me as cheap Roth knock offs. I was a Stroker McGurk fan as soon as the neighbors turned me on to Hot Rod when I was about 5. Way more edgy than Dad's Road and Track and Car and Driver stuff. I'm glad to have this one, especially in view of Tom's pasing
  21. Tonight's discovery. The rear license plate decal responded just right to Set and Sol. More importantly if you center the printed area left to right and place it as far up as possible, it drops perfectly onto the embossed detail. Awesome Black tag. Thank you to the computer artist who laid that out. They printed the frame as well but I like the contrast with the chrome bumper. The reason for the axle through the block is that the (hopefully) in scale a-arms would not support the weight otherwise. Mold seams are minimal and well routed, but there is a gap where the roof meets the back of the cab.
  22. The suspension bits are some of the thinnest castings I've seen in this scale, steering rack, A arms, sway bar. My sway bar was broken in two places, but it's repairable. Axle thru the block? I don't care, cures most toe problems. Love this kit so far. I thought it was Tim Allen's but it's not.
  23. She had issues with the old Tucson Dragway Management (I worked there back then.) But in my experiences with both they were always good to deal with.
  24. And the '67 Ranchero will never get the love it deserves
  25. A bit of lighter flame works well also
