  1. Grabbed this kit the other day at Hobbytown, and I'm glad I did! Another great updated/improved reissue from Round2. I love the pad-printed blue line Good Year slicks and the restored vintage drag parts. And the custom "lucite" steering wheel! Should be a fun build.
  2. Hi gang, Just got done eating crow here. I bought this kit and it is a real beauty! Go out and buy one, you won't be dissapointed. Thank you Revell! FYI - I test-fit the chrome gasser grille openings from the MPC '60 7n1 kit and it looks like they will fit this with just some filling of the corners of the center opening. Also, the Revell '41 Willys gasser frame should fit under the floorpan here, with minimal mods. Happy Modeling!
  3. Nice build! I'd guess it's a Revell '06/'07 kit with Powerslide decals (http://www.mikesdecals.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_14&products_id=111&osCsid=d2836932620a24a0d4982f49e31c168e). Nose & stance mods made a world of difference when compared to out-of-box. Well done. Forgot to add: We should assume a plastic model until proven otherwise. It seems weird that a builder has to show evidence or defend a posted build simply because one other person made an accusation, doesn't it?
  4. Amazing work. Nice job!
  5. Great work so far, RV! Roth was the man.
  6. In my opinion, the best big & little 1/25 Daisy wheels (aka 200-S) are in the Revell diecast-bodied Fast & Furious '70 Charger kit. Might be tough to find, but worth it if you want them. Chck the Fotki link in my signature - I used those wheels on my '68 Firebird build. HTH.
  7. Peace be with you, Darin. My condolences on your difficult loss. Stay strong.
  8. kataranga, I believe you are mistaken about the AMT '60 shortbed - it was a longbed that AMT produced. For '61-'64, 4x4 Fords used the earlier '57-'60 fleetside longbox or a stepside longbox was also available. Bartster - grilles are year-unique from '61-'66.
  9. Greg's first photo (from DocRebuild dot com) shows what Replicas & Miniatures of MD part # R-24 will look like in 1/25. The RMoM catalog describes R-24 as "Halibrand 5-slot wheels w/ 3 ear knockoffs...Early 5 slot wheels as used on the early Cobra and Grand Sport race cars." I have a set somewhere, and they look just like Greg's photo. HTH.
  10. I think if you combine the Revell Goodguys '40 Deluxe convertible with a Revell '40 Standard Coupe (green build on box) for the underpinnings, you can get a stock '40 'vert (aka Pro Modeler).
  11. Hi John, Sorry I'm late to this discussion, but I just got this kit and I really like it. However, your post made me look at the proportions more and I wonder if it's not that the cowl/windshield are too high, but rather the side window sills are too low? See the body reveal molding at the top of the door - doesn't that look a little narrow when compared to a 1:1 '48, or even Revell's 'vert or Woody kits? If so, a little sheet plastic laminated to the window bottoms may improve proportions, while making the chop look a little more aggressive. That said, I agree with SamDiego that the chop is more of a hot rod chop than a classic lead sled/taildragger chop. I like this kit!
  12. Happy Birthday VWD! Enjoy it, brother.
  13. I didn't watch the show, but that Jesse James chop is cool. Nice, restrained design there. I liked Indian Larry too, and Billy Lane built nice bikes a few years ago when he was winning his build-offs on DISC.
  14. Based on Garry's profile shot above, this is another diecast-to-styrene kit from Revell. It's the "Route 66" Vette from a few years back.
  15. Glad to hear you're OK! Now please go buy a CO detector for each floor of your house. (New York State recently enacted a law requiring them for all residences.)
  16. NICE Ford!
  17. I like that grille work! Lacquer over Enamel is usually a no-no, even with Testors.
  18. I bought the '41 pickup cab at NNL East (amongst a bunch of other Drag City items). Ed mastered it himself and it's the first correctly proportioned cab, plus it fits on the new Revell Maz/SW&C chassis. It's unlike any other out there, and it looks "right." Drag City does top notch resin casting - highly recommended! (If you buy a pickup cab, ask about the decals he's got available for it too.)
  19. I've got to buy all these kits, otherwise the hoarders will get them!
  20. Neat idea! Great work and good call on the diecast rolling stock.
  21. Hi Mike, Are these valve covers from the original factory stock release? My Custom Starliner only has smooth chrome covers and a "Thunderbird" option and, from what I've seen in the New Kit Reviews, the Round2 2n1 release appears to have the same as the Custom kit. Thanks, Matt
  22. Mark, You are right. My apologies. I had purchased vintage Front End & Deck extension pieces at a swap meet and planned on using them on that model. So, in my mind, that's how I was mis-remembering things. I will edit my posts so as not to confuse anyone else. Back to the fun! Matt
  23. You were right! Nice build.
  24. Bluesman, Thanks for that very informative thread link! Matt
