  1. Thanks to Ron Garbez for this pic of our giveaway, as I didn't get a single pic! This primered body has been traveling around California for the last year, being signed by modelers at all the events we go to. It was pretty well recieved by everyone at the show, gained a few more signatures and the guy that won it in the raffle was STOKED! JBWelda and crew put together an awesome setup themselves... Pickup truck, trailer and the 32 he's been posting the last few weeks. That raffle winner was equally STOKED! No pics :? but hopefully JBWelda can supply one?
  2. I microwave a cup of water to heat my cans up. I use a large plastic cup thats just a little larger than the paint can (keeps it from tipping over) I've had cans so warm that I've had to wear garden gloves to hold it, but the paint goes on so smooth that its worth a little discomfort. I've noticed less than acceptable results when spraying heated paint in a cold environment. Seems the paint flash cures too quick when its cold outside. About the clear... After you tape off graphics, shoot some clear (airbrushing is preferable) around the tape edge to keep your 2nd color coat from bleeding under. The clear may bleed under, but you don't see it.
  3. You reaaly need to take some model exhaust parts to the hardware store and compare sizes, as solder can come in so many thicknesses. Don't use resin-core solder! The resin will leak out over time and attack plastic! Don't ask me how I know!
  4. Nice builds! I just can't learn to love the Charger, but yours came out nice. Just got a Caddy today and realy like it (except the provisions stated in the "Kit Reviews" category) Your build gives me some ideas to the direction I'd like to take mine.
  5. Picked one up today.... Yeah, I guess you're right... Those wheels are pretty insane! I'm not against the "Big Wheel Bling" style, but those verge on ridiculous! On the other hand, its a pretty interesting kit. I may have to move this one up the list of things to do! Khart got it right though, lose the bad graphics and carbon fiber. I think "deblingment" would be proper english...
  6. Yep, Its the kit frame... just modified quite a bit.
  7. Schweeeet! Thats gotta be one of your coolest ever, and thats saying a lot, cuz you build such cool models!
  8. I'll save you a slice! That would be a veggie, with tofu and goat cheese... Right? We'd never talk about you behind your back...
  9. FRIDAY NIGHT PIZZA PARTY For our out of town guests who come in on Friday night we invite you to join us at Round Table Pizza for our "Welcome to NNL West" pizza party. You fly, we buy... and we get a few more hours to talk about our favorite subject, Model Cars! Round Table Pizza, 4302 Moorpark Ave. San Jose CA 95129 (408) 725-0818 The party will be from 7 pm until 9 pm. Mapquest location... http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formt...S&geodiff=1
  10. Oooohhh, So nice! Like Matt said, your 32 is BadA$$! Everything about it is just So Right! The 50 is a pretty sweet cruizer also, really nice paint and detail.
  11. We finished ours last night, around 1 am! 8) No pics yet, but I'll get some later. You guys are really thrashin' now, aren't you?
  12. www.micromark.com Item #60362 bits from #60-#80
  13. Really nice work so far!
  14. Darn it! You went and "PIF'fed" the kits wheels off somewhere else, didn't you?!?! (Don't mind me... I'm a wheel slut! ) Thats not typically the kind of model I build, but I'm intrigued enough to, at least, go look at one. It does have "Table" presence!
  15. Mr O... Stan found the cloth at a yardage store. There's only enough in the kit to do the seat back, and he wanted to upholster all of the panels. He also found some cloth cement that worked really well. Thanks for the comps on my hot rods... I apprecciate it! Jbwelda... Good luck... I'll put your name in the "Dibs" bucket! ! Hope it doesn't go to the guy that said "What the H*** do I want this for?!?!" (true story, several years ago!) Why won't Hossain be there? I always enjoy seeing his stuff, he's improved his builds so much over the last several years. Did you guys finish up the giveaway yet? Now thats the one I'd like to win!
  16. I've been doing my part to get the NNL West giveaway 32 ready... My part being body and related panels. Stan Pinnick upholstered the interior. We will get together Thursday night to do the final assembly. Nothing like a last minute slam build, huh? I haven't done much on my 32, as the NNL West and work has kept me pretty busy thru January... Along with waiting for another order from Replicas and Miniatures, not much happened with this model! I really wanted to finish for the show, but I'm havin' too much fun with this project to rush it! Got the top end of the engine assembled, along with the pulleys. I had to backtrack a little when I realized there was no way I was going to fit a fan in there. (I stretched the frame before I had even decided on an engine!)I had to plug the hole for the fan pulley and modify the radiator to clear the blower pulley, along with adding another radiator hose inlet. (For reference, thats a Revell 32 grill and radiator) The interior will be pretty much box stock. I'll pipe all the seats as shown here. I snagged the pleated steering wheel from the AMT 49 Merc and have a skull shifter ready to install. And the 3rd project... My new Camaro. I had Keith Marks make some special decals, long enough to fit the roof. The front and rear are KM's 70 Chevelle stripes.
  17. Old Skool Rules! Very nicely done!
  18. That is just TOO Sweet! Maybe the best looking chopper I've seen since the "Craze" started!
  19. Who are "They" and how many of 'em inhabit that mind of yours? See ya Saturday!
  20. Thats a cool little car! Nice build.
  21. Hmmm... I don't think Jairus will be there...
  22. Sweet! I can't wait to see the finished product! We're trying to slam together the Big Duece that we're giving away... so much to do, so little time!
  23. Hey all, Just wanted to put out the word on the NNL West... It happens next saturday! This is looking to be one of the best shows for us in a while, as there's been a lot of interest from model builders from all over the western U.S. Come on out and enjoy the show! There's always something new and interesting that shows up. Model Cars Magazine will be there to shoot pics for the event coverage. So... Go dust off those models and get 'em ready for the show! We still have a few vendor tables left... no guarantee that we'll have them day of show, so get your reservation in now. www.nnlwest.org
  24. Thats exactly what I was going to say about it! Nice work, it really does change the look and feel of the car to something a little more pleasing to the eye! I wonder how you're going to smooth some of the transitions (like the leading edge of the wheelwell), but I'm sure you have that figured out already.
