  1. Thats gonna look good! Nothing better than the red/black combo to make it stand out!
  2. You let Jairus wander around your house, unescorted! Just kidding... Jairus (and most other model builders I've met) could help themselves to my beer fridge anytime! Thats some seriously nice work you have there, James. The floor and trunk pans really make it work. I've seen a few guys try the BMF/whole body trick, but none have pulled it off as convincingly as you have. I guess you have to put some faith and elbow grease into it, to get that result. A friend tried a pinch of steel wool on a cotton swab, chucked in a dremel... interesting and believable effect.

    Badillac

Very nice work! Sinking the rear bumper in was a great way to clean up the rear. Too bad you couldn't have saved the ovals, they added some interest. The front end is classic clean lines!
  4. Looking good so far! Will it really sit that low? looks wicked 8) that way... I've really wanted to start on either the Magnum or Caddy STS, but I've promised myself that I'd finish the current WIP and not be distracted. :?
  5. Beautiful build. I'm sure its hard to part with! I guess thats why I don't build commission work (that and nobody has asked me to! ) That blue fits the car very well, and the stance is great!
  6. Smooth little cruiser... Nice work!
  7. Good save... Nice work!
  8. Welcome to the forum... I'm sure you'll enjoy your time spent here. Don't let Peterson kid you, he's an above average guy (just don't mention T-bolt around him!) Keep the eBay find as-is... its a great peice of work. You never know, it may inspire you to build something similiar.
  9. Very Nice! I don't build race cars, but I always appreciate a well done model, regardless.
  10. Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're on for thursday...
  11. Why's that? Are you refferring to my signature? Just a quote from a world famous artist...
  12. Lookin' Good! 8) Nice color choice, just a little different from the usual array of yellows.
  13. Nice techniques, very believable!
  14. You do nice work, Mark! I still have stuff I begged for and haven't finished the projects yet! :?
  15. Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland... http://public.fotki.com/davetoups/aftermar...thead_head.html Mine have about 1/2" removed from the middle.
  16. It may be a looooong ride... But its worth it! Very nice work! I guess thats why they call you Mr. Obsessive! How much space do you leave to account for paint thickness? Thats always been a major hangup for me when I do opening panels, although its gotten better with the advent of hobby lacquers.
  17. I used Hoppin Hydros 1/18th scale wheels and tires on this, but lowrider wheels are, like, 12" wheels... the GMP set you posted are really nice looking, but would probably be too big to be realistic (Ismael makes a very good point also!)
  18. Yeah, theres lot of kool skulls in the DnD section, you just have to hunt! Hadn't seen your truck before, Very nice! As for new ideas... I never would have thought to use zebra decals in the bed of a truck! Thats a really kool touch!
  19. The one thing I've changed recently is how it contacts the inside of the body. My old one (and Randys) have 4 seperate wires, bent at a 90 degree angle, to contact the body. The recent one I built has a 2 post C shape, so theres a long edge contacting the body front to back. Here's some pics of my body stands... Pretty typical of how I mount small parts... Man, That paint booth is an embarrassment!
  20. Wicked little Rod! 8) Is that a turned metal dash? How'd you do that?
  21. Hey Brian, It looked good with all its Brethren on the table! What've you been up to? haven't heard from you since the show...
  22. Good eye for a complicated mod! That is gonna have a whole lot of attitude when its done!
  23. For small parts I use popsicle sticks with blue tape folded over. Big stand... Pretty much like Randy's... homemade with a block of 1"x4" and coat hanger wire... Randy, from the paint buildup on your stand, I'd say you been using it for 10 yrs or so? My other, older one looks like that!
  24. Just a little progress, though. I stalled out before the NNL West, as I had to spend too much time getting ready for the show. Its taken a week or so, but I'm back into it, now. Went with shorty headers, modified from the RMCoM parts. Instead of blending the megaphones back into the pipe, I left them larger to create the effect of a larger pipe welded on. Foot room? What foot room? Kit dash and gauge pods, Revell decals, AMT 49 Merc steering wheel, RMCoM "Foot" gas pedal, scratchbuilt shifter with a white metal skull. I left a pedal out because I had already built the whole interior and couldn't get under there! Oh well, points off for that one! Craft wire piping, painted body color. Side panels are BMF aluminum. I'm not real happy with the total interior, as I got pretty heavyhanded and didn't take much care with it. It should look ok in a shaded interior (or I dissassemble, strip and rebuild it! :? ) The pan is painted Tamiya red-brown, with acrylic back washed into the grain. I'm happy with how heavy this is, as its under the car and would be pretty grungy. The metal plate was scratched to hide the floor mount steering column hole. That cracking you see in the tranny tunnel is what happens when you forget that you used an acrylic wash and put lacquer over it! I'll dirty it up, and most of it will be hidden by the tranny anyway.
