  1. Nice work, great job on the opening doors!
  2. Neat stuff! Nice castings, BTW... I've never tried a full body, although I've done a few 2 part molds. At least here you don't have the drama... Mostly just builders having conversations about models!
  3. Haven't done as much as I hoped... just the first coat of paint on the body, the roof insert and grill. I've also started painting the interior, using the wimbledon white I've used everwhere else. All of the blower components are done in alclad polished aluminum. The heads need a little bit of wash to tone them down. As an experiment for the Alclad, I used Tamiya dark blue mettalic as a base coat, instead of black. It does give the aluminum a lighter tone, with blue shadow instead of black. My theory is that chrome or polished metal reflects the sky, so it should have a blue tone to it. I also spent WAY too long trying to persuade the headers into shape. They're still not where I want them, either! I may order another set from RMCoM and cut them off ahead of the door. At least this project has a name now... "Topper"! Don't know why that came about, just sounded right
  4. Excellent work so far, It does set the "Gold Standard" for the rest of us!
  5. Very interesting idea, Finished up nicely!
  6. Nice paint for not trying too hard! What brand/color is it?
  7. That would be a sweet commuter car! Nice build, I especially like the flame graphics.
  8. Good Luck! Aren't these choppers a refreshing change of pace?
  9. Bill, A friend who builds race cars had the same issue with trying to replicate smoked glass. He needed to do the windscreen that was molded as part of the resin body. We brainstormed the following... Covered it with BMF, used Tamiya smoke (clear black) and buried it under Tamiya clear. When it was polished out it looked quite convincing.
  10. Bill, Your color variety on the chassis/suspension/engine really make that whole thing pop! Even if some metal colors are not prototypically correct, it fools the eye into thinking there's more detail, even if its just paint detail. Very nice work, as always!
  11. A trick to try with multi color paint jobs... After masking, airbrush clear paint over the edges, sealing them off. If it creeps under the tape, it's clear so you'll never see it. Then shoot your second color and, Voila, sharp color seperations!
  12. You're a VERY brave man! I think I'd pass on that one...
  13. Clean build, Sweet and simple!
  14. That gave me a chuckle in the latest issue!
  15. If its not too late, order the Alclad gloss black base also. It works very well, although there are other basecoat alternatives. Small dots of chrome can be touched up with a silver gel pen.
  16. No pics... But I must be organized! I have my main worktable in the family room, the garage bench, storage in the upstairs office AND a storage room offsite!! I'm hoping to build a 12' x 20' work/storage room out back, but its a matter of $$$.
  17. Bill was quite the character! Always enjoyed talking about cars to everyone, and if you needed to know absolutely anything about model kits, he was the "Go To" guy! The estimate on his kit collection, alone, is 13,000 kits, going back to the 50's. Not to mention toys, collectibles, automobilia, etc... R.I.P.
  18. Like a fine wine... Nice finish! Great looking model of a rarely seen subject. Who produced the resin?
  19. Saw it in the flesh tonite and its lookin' pretty good!
  20. That question came up on another board a few days ago. Here's my thoughts on it... The last time I was truly excited about a build was a certain 29 pickup (that you may vaguely remember) everything about that project seemed inspired, cool, easy, etc... Although I've built quite a few since then, they've all been "interesting" projects. My most recent project, a 32 Vicky, has that old feeling about it. I'm constantly thinking about the next part of the build, planning for the next step, daydreaming new ideas, picturing the finished model, etc... Yeah, inspiration is the key! I realize most of my projects die because something didn't work out right, that color sucked, that ride height is wrong... Comes right down to it, they were only interesting, not inspired. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
  21. Those chopper decals work well on that! Nice build.
  22. Nice build! I wish my projects went that fast!
  23. Knowing what RMCoM's 1bbl Strombergs look like (tiny), I'd guess these were meant to be 2bbl (who knows, really!) Yeah, the riser is another scratchbuilt piece, to create space for both carbs.
  24. Came out looking pretty good! Kind of like what we used to see in the High School parking lots!
