Bill Hirsch manufactures engine enamels in quart cans . I know this is HIGHLY impractical for model building . One I guess could buy a can and sell off bottles of a usable quantity . I have found that Ford Flathead orange , (Used 1953 in automobiles built in Norfolk Va. and Dallas Texas ) can be used on Chevrolet 1956 on V-8's

The dioramas I do for the Texas and Virginia Historical societies I have done have all involved period photographs . The diorama I am doing for a personal project that will premier at the Lewis Ginter Botanical gardens, Richmond Virginia this Thanksgiving will have involved HOURS of researching Blue prints and photos taken in the day

I'll be awaiting the 1948 Ford regardless. I restored one in the early 1990's . I took it from a Street rod back to a respectable Ford V-8 driver

I'm fairly sure I have covered this story before . i do dioramas . i am currently doing a model of a 1920 Marland oil station built in Richmond Virginia . Now I can fit any 1-24th or 1-25th car to about 1927 into it .

N carolina used to be a "Hotbed " of well done car contests . i have stopped doing any Virginia shows with the exception of the Automotive Modelers in the fall, Norfolk Virginia

To relicate stucco in 1-24th, 1-25th, I use the Krylon stone finishes . If te color I want isn't available , just paint over it . Besides this gets the solids in the paint to lay flatter

Chris , Marty has turned his attention to building a RUNNING , driving copy of the Cadillac Cyclone . He generally comes out of hiding here about April , May as the weather here for Body work is awful now

Your're turned out way nicer than mine did . I'm even friends with Marty Martino who built the "Clone " out of a 1959 sedan .

Barnes and Noble here , Richmond Virginia has never carried Model cars Magazine . I have a hard enough time getting them to even order books they don't have on hand for ,me

I had previously written Budd Anderson a couple of years earlier and asked him why this market wasn't being addressed . He did take the time to write back and thought the same thing . The infrequent publishing schedule is why I have never trusted a subscription to this magazine . The one store who USED to handle your magazine has been out of business a couple of years here . I'd be thrilled to be a subscriber if I knew I was going to see a return .

Because it's jus my son and I now for the most part , I got to sit on my front porch today , gaze out into the clouds and reminisce on one HECK of a year ! i got several messages from fans thanking me on my new book and I have been able to reunite with some of my family this year . I don't need more model cars , I need the time to finish the diorama I have planned for Christmas 2016 .

Tom, you are correct in this statement . i get accused of making a few of my buildings from kits by some rather "Dubious " judges whovent a clue as to even what day of the week it is too .

All too many times , both Spectators and judges alike don't pay a bit of attention as to the extra information presented with an exhibit . I see too many models judged on the "Beauty " as opposed to good workmanship

I take pictures and include full stories on any building I do in scale .

Since I Primarily devote my model activity to dioramas now ,models are picked to work with whatever building I'm doing.Currently, I'm doing a 1920 Marland oil store that was built in Manchester Virginia .I'll be showing it as a 1923 era project....................
