This is a joke, right?
Eshaver replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Greg , sadly for the longest time , I have seen this "Bravery " , not just here , but especially on Faceless book . I have no idea how a keyboard can extract such bravado , but it does . I'm on several forums plus Facebook. I look for the GOOD stuff to comment on instead of playing "Armchair critic " if anyone wants a lesson on how to ruin a hobby , well , go back to page 1 ..... -
I'll be 66 in another month
-
Greg, please accept my apologies for not being able to have come . I wrote the dates for your show and a class I was teaching at VCU down backwards . . I couldn't back out on students when we chatted on Face Book . I guess this is a result of this ole gal gittin REALLY OLD!!!!!! Seriously people , these people put on a KILLA show EVERY year ! I know a LOT of I P M S people in Virginia that could certainly learn a LOT when it comes to the Tidewater bunch .....

WoooooHoooo! How About a '66 SUBURBAN !?!?!!!
Eshaver replied to Danno's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Actually Delton , making the top lift up door option shouldn't require too much effort . I well remember BOT rear door options as I once did a bucket load of automobile glass work . I well remember the Virginia State department of inland game and fisheries having a fleet of these trough the years . I replaced enough glass in them to pay college tuition a couple of times .... -
WoooooHoooo! How About a '66 SUBURBAN !?!?!!!
Eshaver replied to Danno's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I guess depending upon which rear door option is taken on the 1966 Suburban, a Panel delivery conversion can't be a hard switch . The Suburbans then had three doors as an option . Puttying them on the passenger side , ( provided Revell does this won't be an issue . Oh yes , I can definitely see a lot of these showing up as City maintenance trucks , police emergency , and Painter's wagons . -
I've always had an affinity for old boats and wooden boats . back when I was still manufacturing Van accessories , I used to make boat pieces and interior bracing for early automobiles in the 20's and 30's . There's just something magic when you're buzzing a piece of mahogany or teak through a band saw . I know I'll love doing BOTH of these boats and hopefully creating a diorama depicting say Williams burg Virginia

Any of you here have any photo's vintage or otherwise of the Linburg Boats ????

HobbyTown member discounts
Eshaver replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As I recall, mine offered 10% if I send 100.00 . Considering I have a five year supply of Evergreen and Plastruct , I don't even bother going clear across town , fight traffic and hopefully find a parking spot even close to the store . Besides , the last time I went in a Hobbytown , the kits were everything anyone else had on line . I usually do once a year kit buying via a vendor who always makes a model show in Norfolk Virginia . this guy is always fair , gives discounts and dosen't have an attitude ...... -
I was in the van parts manufacturing bsiness for years . Among one of the items my company produced were individualized drink holders for even the EARLY vans . I had a 1963 Econoline years before they were considered Kwell and from there , that is why I decided to do parts for them . The Dodge A-100 was "Stolen " using the original 1961 Ford Econoline measurements . Notice how similar exterior stamping s are . This is the biggest clue !

I doubt it . I do diorama work for starters . Second , 98% of what I build is scratch built anyway . I spent one day in the yard collecting Grass and twigs . -

Eshaver replied to FordRodnKustom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Scott, let me explain my total disdain for Crack list and Evil Bay . FIRST , too often E bay sides with sellers , NOT Buyers . Craig's list is simply an abyss of crooked deals . I've had entirely too many issues with Pay pal and it's always a wall I'm trying to bridge over to have something resolved ! Pay pal has in the past continued to charge my credit card for items I never received . You say I'm missing "Great deals " ...... REALLY SIR???? i see better stuff in person at a model contest . At least there I can see what I'm putting HARD EARNED CASH for . I'm NOT bidding against YUKKIE Shill bidders and I'm NOT buying over priced stuff to begin with . You people that support E Bay have done NOTHING but ruin several hobbies due to the circus surrounding these sale sites . . You pushed Muscle cars , baseball cards , gasoline station paraphernalia to the stratosphere . NO , I will NO LONGER support these things . -

In fact , I'm an "invitee " to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens Festival of lights and Miniatures show this year opening MID November . The Lewis Ginter Botanical gardens show is in Richmond Virginia . The estate is best found off the Boulevard exit , Exit 78 off I-95 .

Here in Richmond Virginia where I call de Lan dat time forgot , we have Hobbytown , two of them. They're owned by the same former structural engineer. . I have little I can say nice about this company in every place I have had the misfortune to have been in . We lost our last "Real Hobby store back in 2008 " ..........

I bet most of ya won't know this , but in Los Angles , we're sometimes referred to as "Rat Bags " This is on account of the HORRIBLE rodent problem in Early Los Angles . Bounty's were placed on bringing in dead rats once .

AMTERTL 1994 car trailer
Eshaver replied to Nova-ss's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have duplicated this trailer as a scratchbuilt model several times in the history of my being here . If it ever cools down , I'll go over to my storage and send you plans as to how to do this using Evergreen , Plastruct and some wood. I wanted a wood deck . -
