  1. I never built the Monogram dragster in it's day , just the AMT Double dragster kit . I however scored TWO monogram dragster kits during the Ollie's blow out in May . BOTH KITS appeal to me personally as they were part of the "Run what ya brung " era ....
  2. I'm not sure how extensive you need as to weathered windows . At Hobby Lobby and Michael's art , I can buy a product known as Krylon Frosted glass. This is a "Milky white " colorant that one could shoot on the Inside of a piece of Clear acetate for dirty window panes . I would suggest shooting some very light beige over an automobile windshield to get a muddy appearance .
  3. Sorta like Ghetto "Bling wheels" and lowered to the ground .......I'll pass o n BOTH !
  4. David , would you be able to provide any pertinent technical information concerning the dispensers as in the manufacturer , date when this was introduced and so forth ? I own a couple of Service station groups over on face Book. Currently , both groups deal strictly with what is considered Obsolete here in America . I have in my collection of older Gilbert and barker , Tokiem , Bennett, Saatam and OPW pictures of gasoline , er Petrol pumps you may want from me .
  5. Extremely WELL DONE !!!!! THE CARS TELL THE STORY PERFECTLY ....
  6. I see stuff like this and say to myself , All others pay cash ....
  7. If you are near Richmond Virginia , look for me to once again be a participant at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens Holiday festival of lights and Miniatures show opening November 2018 . You can NOW go to Art Forms design on face Book and see previous shots of the miniatures and of the lights . This up coming show will present two Richmond Virginia buildings , the former J-H garage, a 1920 Marland Oil dealer on Forrest Hill ave and 1205 West Franklin , former Coffee house where Bruce Springsteen , Elizabeth Cotton and Richard Leigh used to play on Saturday nights . https://www.facebook.com/Art-Forms-Design-717064124996145/
  8. Mark, you are correct in your post . Budd then went on to Choo- Choo custom as a P-R person . he was instrumental in the El camino SS models about 1978. My Lil Red wagon is a cabinet contractor's installation truck sporting a KZEW FM bumper sticker from Dallas Texas .
  9. Tom, your Panel looks wonderful and allow me to point out the R&R is a LONG wheel base . The Revell will be a SHORT wheel base . I have a Ford Panel truck and it's easy to see why Chevrolet and GMC combined outsold Dodge and Ford . From 1946, Ford offered just the ONE panel as did Dodge . Chevrolet offered TWO wheel bases , TWO trim levels and 4wheel drive conversions along with a Suburban . Now Ford of Mexico DID indeed do a Suburban type vehicle , but they NEVER offered it here in the states . Yes, Ford offered a "Deluxe cab" option , but was limited to better seats , and interior appearance items along with markers on the hood and grille .
  10. Greg , I sent a join request to the group . I'm still doing dioramas , however now , My work is going straight to historical societies when they're finished .
  11. Cale , you'll hate me because I make my own stuff near exclusively :
  12. Thank you for sharing that Peter !
  13. Steve , the photo shows a newer Mustang . I think the Mustang you meant to share is much boxier ... I bought one myself as Ollies , ( a Better Big Lot's) is closing them out . Yes , the roof to me looks a wee short as in a Top chop .
  14. Uh I have used Testor's Metalizers extensively . The deal to remember is this . The Base coat , if you Prime MUST BE SANDED TO BE AS SMOOTH AS A BABY BOTTOM ! Here is a model of the former Zep diner that was in Hawthorne California . I used the Aluminum Buffing Metalizer and used OLD T-shirts :
  15. A MOST INTERESTING thought ...........
  16. Scott, I don't recall anyone besides Linburg ever doing a 1964-5 Chevrolet Van in scale . Yes, you're correct in the 66 model having a change . The 66 had a modified doghouse to accept the 307 V- 8 , the windhield went to a curved glass , the radiator was enlarged even on the 6's , and the tail lamps got larger too
  17. There was a 1965 Chevrolet Van in the series . I've long wished for a return of it and for someone to do one in 1-24th scale as I used to manufacture van accessories .
  18. No joke ! I'd be real leery of buying museum prices .....
  19. One of the Revell issues of the Mysterion had a Ed Roth . It wasn't pre painted . MPC had driver figures in the 1928 Lincoln , one guy standing . The Revell Club de mer had a driver as did the Futura As I recall, AMT had Mr. T in the GMC A Team van too
  20. I wnt to a Richmond Va Ollies and was disapointed as it was the same TIRED stuff from Linburg as they have been trying to pawn off now for a few years .
  21. First , Monogram's 1936 Ford was a Convertible . AMT's 1936 was a ROADSTER!!!! Uh gang , they were two DIFFERENT body styles . Roadsters had acetate curtains . Convertibles had ROLL UP Windows . Here we go ! Model 68 Body 720 3 Window coupe Model 68 Body 700 2 door sedan Model 68 Body 760 2 door Club cabriolet , ( Convertible ) Model 68 Body 720 Body 5 Window coupe ( Dick Tracy edition ) Model 68 Body 750 Ford Phaeton touring Convertible Model 68 Body 4 door sedan Model 68 Body Body 700 ( Trunkback sedan) I hope this helps educate some of you out there as I am one of the writers for the early Ford club and yes , I own a 1953 Ford Panel truck and it still runs a V- 8 Flat head
  22. The vinyl compounds we knew in 1960 area FAR CRY from the ones we have in kits today . In fact , I would venture to say the Hard vinyl we had then was obsolete by about 1980 or so .
  23. Very nicely done examples !!!! Good luck on your show .
  24. I dunno bout y'all but Monogram's 1941 Lincoln has become sorta hard to find .... I would like to do one of these as coupes and sedans were much more prevalent than a convertible during this era .
  25. Nick, thank you for that update !
