  1. I don't attend to many shows any longer as I'm doing mostly writing for magazines now . The couple of shows I do attend are for me to show off my latest dioramas . Kit vendors know I build what I buy as the cars I do actually build are a permanent part of the diorama I have in mind . Those with Museum prices get a " wincing eye " from me . I'll walk on vendors who are trying to finance their retirement at my expense . OK , call me CHEEP!
  2. Tiking , without going all political, the state of Michigan by it's own mismanaged governmental system has collapsed upon itself . In addition the HUGE infux of Muslim refuges into Dearborn and Detroit have me wondering how much longer the state of Michigan will remain as a part of the United states .
  3. Obviously, you haven't visited the Great state of Michigan in the last decade sir ................................
  4. Dearborn's LOST annex
  5. 1-24th scale luggage is available through a few of the Doll house sites I deal with . With me , dioramas are my focus . I see the world in scale and what isn't made , I scratchbild
  6. Ole Ray Parsons did a 1935 Ford PU years back . The scale was never determined . He told me it was to go under the AMT/ Linburg kit , (JOKE JOKE JOKE ) Dang thing had to have it's own chassis made to fit it . Warning, should you find one of these , I hope yer skills are honed !
  7. I've never had any luck with them..................................................
  8. Finially , I see SOMEONE here "Gets It " ! Uh huh, Hey Chuck, that lehgthy post "Nails" me . Even when I'm scratch building my service stations , I have to realize some things simply arent't going to HAPPEN . At my age and nearly escaping death twice , I don't have tinme to sweat every rivett and every crease or charicter line . You foklks wanna know why I so seldom post here any longer ? Look at the Arguing the Gnashing ot teeth and the PUT DOWNS you run on kits , many are re releases dating to 1960 ! I'm DONE here , I have should made fresh coffee an hour ago ..................
  9. Nothing a decent tool an die maker couldn't re engrave . Besides, it may have used moveable inserts in the body tool too
  10. I built my own off that POS kit . Of course that means sectioning the body at the trunk and moving it forward about an eigth of an inch . The chassis has to be sliced an diced ahear of the rear axle . A M T was a TOTAL embarrasment as Racing Champions . I have seen GREED before , but these guys capitalized even on that notion !
  11. If I hadn't seen the progress , I wouldn't have believed it !
  12. As everyone else has mentioned , you're weathering techniques take this piece over the top !
  13. I love the weathering on the buildings !

    Route 66

Get up with me if you decide to do another "Maye West " Fry pump. I have restored the real ones and I have the measurements do one in scale
  15. Too bad A M T NEVER did the interior of this trend setting truck with a correct interior . I would have to really give it thought as to buying this as the MRSP is probably close to 30.00 an tax
  16. It would scare off enough Retail buyers enough to have a negative number on a company's Bottom Line . Kits are already pushing a US Grant . To me , that is scary. I got into this back in 1960 and even 1.39 was a stretch on my meager lawn jobs . Now with a Skill 3, we can already assume some difficult assembly and fitment issues ............................
  17. I'm on a couple of sites that use this program . Yes, the re design took some getting used to . Of course too, Pro-Boards had a similar re design and I know that drove many away . Oh well, I need another coffee ..........
  18. Clark, it's a wonderful beginning ! Now , take the project ahead by making your eye a camera . Yes, go study a fence, a metal roof very critically . You'll see quickly where you can add a few details to an already good diorama .
  19. Any further word on the 1941's ?
  20. I built this kit way back in 1965 . I wish I still had it today as I have worked on several 1928 Model A's . My primary interests in automobiles wans after 1953 . I am a Freelancer for the Early Ford Club of America and Ford's Fours and V-8's were just magic to me
  21. I'm with Lee here on the "Stock " option . I used to actually own a 1953 Mercury Monterey and a 52 would certainly look most welcome in a diorama setting . DeSotos have a following and if could do one stock , it's a sure bet .
  22. Chuck, Ford dealers at least the ones I knew in the Houston area all did a lot of "In house " conversion work on trucks . This included rear bumpers with their dealership name engraved on them . I guess what I'm saying is , you have leeway here ..................
