  1. James, last year , I went down with the Fish Inn and ole "Sandy" was churnin out in da Bay ........................
  2. YIKES, It's NEXT WEEK FOLKS , get yer entries lined up !!!!!!!!! Oh , dress warmly, There will be a change in the weather come this weds day. Norfolk Virginia is very DAMP as it is already . With cold damp air , even more ................ Check the gas before going in the tunnel too................
  3. Tom, You're "Pinch Waist Chevrolet needs a special award on account of where the rusted panels . Seriously , In the years I have had to work on these trucks , seldom do I see someone who has ever taken the time to do enough research and put the damage where it belongs . You seem to have taken an actual truck from this era and studied it , CAREFULLY .
  4. Dave , that's the difference between todays mechanics and we older individuals . It's not a bad thing that they aren't adept at repairing a conventional ignition or rebuilding a carburetor . I'm willing to say a lot of fellows who taught me sheet metal could do a far better job at "Hammer Welding" than I too. Hey, I work in a lot of Ford Model A gearboxes . There's no full time demand for what I do now . Everyone I know wants Overdrive automatics ....................
  5. Product Miniatures Corporation, P M C once did a 1960's version of the Winermobile , I got one . Oh , it's pretty much close to 1-24th scale
  6. Sam, ya done good son ......................
  7. Hoooooooo boy, dis sounds like one of the gasoline station forums I belong to. The ole Codgers there are "Beefin " about "pickers ". Hey, I started building plastic model kits because I like cars . I built the A M T "Annual kits " vs Revell, and a few others cause the A M T's went together nicely and didn't cause me agony and grief , unlike a few out there at the time which went together and parts ................. uh may or may not have ever gone onto a build . Yeah, Viet Nam nailed everything for me by 1967. I got out of building kits in 1970 as a career was more interesting . I bought a few kits , usually A M T's during the 70's . I had lost my entire collection of builts in a flood from a Hurricane back in 1972. Even when I returned to the hobby in 1986, I usually bought the A M T's , usually re- issues of old Trophy kits like the 36 Ford . OCCASIONALY, I'd buy a old built kit , but it had to be a cleanly built kit and it had to have been a subject that wasn't readily available , an example , A M T 1961 Buick Special wagon . I buy kits of cars that interest me . I don't very often trade off what I have . I buy a kit because I usually have a definitive plan to build it , NOT sell it as some piece of meat . As for values , heck , that's like looking to see the weather out side . one minute sunny an 70 , the next , uh rainy and 50.......................
  8. O K , to do grease stains , generally, I'll use a combination of both a Semi Gloss acrylic Black and Flat black . The best looking color to me that represents concrete is from Michaels art stores . Go to the water based paints and get the El Cheap-o Color Smart brand . They have a color called Suede . You'll have to put a few coats as this paint isn't very opaque . Still, you can achieve some really good results out of this paint . To do some cracks in a piece of Foam core , take a pencil and literally draw jagged lines using a VERY DULL POINT . Then coat the board with the suede paint , swab some Burn't Umber , ( A Dark Brown ) into the cracks and wipe up the excess as fast as ya can . I included some old dioramas I've done over the years all depicting different gas stations . Maybe one of the shots will help explain ............
  9. Man, these "Time warp" builds are something else !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. By weathered , there are several ways one can depict older concrete. You can have grease stains , pools of oil , cracks , gravel showing , I dunno Chris , you need to give me an idea as to what effect you're trying to achieve .
  11. The decals in the 1st 1959 Imperial from model King were a kwell throwback..................
  12. I have the same Buick. I wanted the Reatta too, but I had only the money for one when I did buy the promo . The guy sold what he had before I was able to ever find any more . I haven't a clue as to who did the cars ..............
  13. Who cares , I made a lot of money off that picture . My prop work is in it , my son got Christmas out of it so there .....................
  14. Jonathan B) , seriously, yer onto something !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. You may have heard the term, Heavy Veggie , greenie weenie . O K I P M S to me translates to a relentless Rivvetter
  16. Jurgen, they're even MORE fun to drive ! I used to own a 1939 model. Nice model work sir .
  17. Tom, that bunch of people you refer to as those who don't follow the leaders, yeah, that's ME !!!!!!!!! I'm headed to two contests between October 26th and Richmond Virginia in February . The same crowd that calls itself an Automobile plastic model group also seems to be the same bunch who judge at a I P M S competition in Richmond . I'm going to show both the former Zeppelin Diner , ( Shown below ) and a model of a Metal Pre fab Gilmore station, ( Hey Donnie Bogger - where you be ? ) Yes, once again, I'll be competing against a kit of a star ship , a kit of a train and some little fence with a muddy car . look, I'm the Rodney Dangerfield of model building in Virginia . I follow no one , I am not a club member , nor do I wish to do the same subjects that I see here on this board . anyone here wanna start a casual group of Misfit model builders ? Yeah, the line forms to da left !
  18. LOOKS H A M B friendly too !!!!!!!!!
  19. What an interesting project ! PLEASE keep us informed as to the progress .
  20. John, not trying to sound like a know it all, ( Some here do ) . look, go down to Tips and Tricks at the bottom of the board . I bet MOST if not all of you're questions will have already been covered in that Topic portion of the board . As for a How To book on building models that really is "Current ", uh not really . look, save the 35.00 and use that money to buy supplies at a hobby store . Besides , just wat concerns about model building do you have . You can use the P- M feature , I usually have decent answers too !
  21. I'm looking at another topic locked .................................. sad too.
  22. Jim, if I known you an Rick were going up to Fredericksburg, I'd have asked you to see if anyone had a set of bearings for a 53- 60 Ford gear box . Oh well, eventually, I'll get one of my six 53 Ford gear boxes built back ............
  23. "Blocked from Bidding Junior ......................... hummmmmmm, sounds like people I know who send me HATE POSTS at a certain OTHER forum...................
  24. Hey Blunc, here's de stuff from Faceless book . Me , I never got into jacking anything unless it had a flat tire . I drove vans an guess what, I still drive my ole STOCK 53 Ford Panel wiff a Flathead Mercury in it ..................
