  1. That Black and White shot does the car justice ! Nicely done . Ed Shaver
  2. I dunno bout some of you , but working one some of them was well, like working on a Late model van. Driving one , say the 1950 Chevrolets were stuffy, cramped , and the ride was near sheer tourture in some cities . I can actually say I have worked on a couple and driven one of the Chevrolets . Even the 1963 COE G M C I was stuck with wasn't the most comfortable thing I ever drove either , especially since the steering wheel was always between my legs . Hey, try saying all those , "I gotta have one" after you've done a day in Houston traffic ................. Ed Shaver
  3. Uh Noname , try this site and try out the calculator they have at the bottom of the page . http://www.scalemodelersworld.com/online-scale-converter-tool.html Ed Shaver
  4. Robbie , we car guys are a lot easier to get along wiff. I for one have better things to do at shows besides counting Rivvettes ! Ed Shaver
  5. Well. I bought a Mini Craft one , molded in black I think about 1998. Still haven't figgured out what to do with it yet . I know Hubley once had this kit as did several others when Hubley went out too..............Ed Shaver
  6. The problem for me is the type of modeling I do. O K , I'll elaborate . I build a lot of diorama and very old cars that generally were built years before Metallics, pearls and translucents were invented . I also like the convience of spray cans too. Testors One coat Laquer is very nice for the colors i've used thus far . Tamyia has a Maroon thats a dead on match to Ford Motor companys Manderian maroon . Duplicolor makes a good , easy to use primer . Ed Shaver
  7. This is a model of one of the star cars shall we say in the movie , The Deuce of Spades . It was built by Jerry Mull and Gene Winfield. Jerry and I have been coresponding for a good while .It's owned by the movie producer , Faith Granger . Faith was very gracious to allow me to take as many photgraphs as I needed in order to get this one right . Jerry meanwhile helped out as he could as it was his Model A that was the chase car in the movie and sometimes Stunt double . Power comes from a Chevrolet 327 with three Rochesters . Mated to the engine is a modern turbo-hydramatic 350. It's rear is a Chevrolet S-10 with coil overs . If you get a chance to see this movie , by all means do so . I was given the privelige to have seen it in a Drive-in setting . Oh, Faith, if ya see this , my son is still enjoying his shirt too! Ed Shaver
  8. I thought that tiny thing was a four . I'll go look .............. Ed Shaver O K , jus looked an sure nuff, I was kind of right : http://www.vintagechevrolet.org/1911/index_pg3.htm There were some four cylinder engines manufactured as the companywas being formed . So, we're both correct !
  9. Johnny, it was known as Presidential Blue . I was in the business then. Painted my 60 Biscayne that color . . Looked so expensive , I sold the car an bought a Corvair ! Ed Shaver
  10. Scratch building a Chevrolet four cylinder shouldn't be too difficult , least for me . Ed Shaver
  11. Skip, Gowland and his wife Gowland comprised what today is Revell of Santa Monica California in the Venice Beach area of the city . They were origionally released in 1950 as the first all plastic assembly kits the company ever manufactured . When the molds were retired about 1953, they were stored with out a Cosmolene coating on the metal . Still, the molds were nearly destroyed in their entireity as the salt air from the Pacific wasn't kind to a canvass tarp . I don't know how many were saved when Mini craft re- released the kits sometime in the 60's . I have a origional Gowland and Gowland from 1951 . Ed Shaver
  12. Fine job young man, keep up de good work ! Ed Shaver
  13. A Binks #7 is a workhorse , period . Been using one for years . Oh I was doing restoration work when you still could lead a fender too.............. Ed Shaver
  14. Jim, I'm suprised that you didn't use some of the Copper mesh you have on hand ............. Ed Shaver
  15. 1951 L' Sabre by Premier models: In my years in the hobby, I have seen ONE of these in this scale . I've seen one other in 1-32nd scale and I forget the manufacturer of that one . This example is the same as the other one this same vendor had several years ago and nearly in the same shape . This time , I was in a position to get this one as I'm a huge fan of anything G M Motorama . Stamped into the top of the bottom half are the words - Premier prod. Brooklin 21 N. Y.At the drivers quarter panel- Facci Bros . I don't have the isnstructions or missing windshield parts . I think I can scratch build these items . I'm curious as to why the 1-25th scale L' Sabres were done in this wierd Brown . The 1-1 car was a Metallic Blue . The 1-32 scale model was molded in a lt. Blue . Ed Shaver
  16. I have done it . Infact , I tried it on one of Ray Parsons . (QUALITY Examples ), that's R & R to those of you in Rio Linda . I used a #11 blade . I was careful and there was enough of a surround to work off of . By that, the cab was strong enough at the rocker and the hinge points to warrant doing so . Ed Shaver
  17. Craig , jus this past fall, I landed a old Hawk kit , yes , a 1912 Rambler in 1-25th scale . Now common, someone here besides me could do a old General Store with a old pump hanging out on the porch . The same can be said of the Chevrolet Touring car , think of the possibilities besides the Pro Street look ............ Ed Shaver
  18. Casey, twenty years ago, I was building some meuseuem exibits and I was still restoring quite a few 1-1 gasoline pumps . The idea of doing some gasoline stations in scale had been a "faint" idea within me at that time . I was and still am actively seeking out what I call "period " subjects like a 1911 Chevrolet as i am very picky as to what vehicles i want with in my dioramas . Now I know that dosen't translate to large sale numbers to warrant a production of kits . The point I'm trying to stress is this , I buy a lot of shall we say "Mainstream" cars that are considered NON-mainstream by model standards , ie Jo-han 56 Pontiac 4dr ht .......... Ed Shaver
  19. I guess these two qualify: Ed Shaver
  20. Great builds guys !!!!!!!!! The only problem I see with them all is the International Scouts here in Virginia rusted out sumthin fierce !!!!!!!! Hey, I knew of several and trust me , they were some rusty rusty rusty birds ............. Ed Shaver
  21. Now I wasn't aware of Jimmy doing any monster bodies . His work is good and for the most part , reliable . Sure , there is some "Clean Up to do ". Still, I would buy most any Jim Flinstone body if it's something I can relate to.
  22. I need to run down my former business partner . He had a 1936 Hump back . Ya'all are pretty close as his car was very similar to you're model . Great work too ! Ed Shaver
  23. Mark, you need to get hold of a June Collectable Automobile magazine . It features a Studebaker meuseuem in South Bend Indiana. There were some real beauts in the story............. Ed Shaver
  24. Iv'e read everyones comments and here's my view . The Crysler has it's fuel cap on the correct side . The re inforcing ribs are where they're supposed to be . The interior pattern is not some "Aftermarket hash job. " The pices even seem to fit with precision accuraccy. My goodness people , get a hobby ! Ed Shaver
