  1. I have a photobucket account and I can barely get on it. Not sure if its connection or what. Can uysually get to others' albums on Fotki easily. Photobucket? Forget it. Grrrr.
  2. Arrrghhhh, the pics won't load for me. Have to try again later. So far everything has been awesome!
  3. I do wish there had been an 80's Dodge truck tooled up back when. I had an 84 shortbed 4x4 with slant six. Yes it was weak. But it got me around.
  4. Ok - I saw one reply on here about the soft window moldings where the poster sent to Revell and revell replied that it would be fixed. Eventually. Doen't matter - not sure when/if I'll build another one. Modeling budget is pretty small these days compared to kit prices. And kids like their education...lol. Still, all in all, I like the kit pretty well and am pretty happy with how mine is turning out. I do wish I might have waited for S&M version to build first. I did manage to get the red line on the grille - gotta go back and fill in the passenger side. It's wider there like the driver's side where the Plymouth decal goes and I left it open. Took a couple coats of acrylic red, my best small brush, and some really weird breathing. but I can live with it. Still got some work to do on the upper grille openings. Those are kinda vague. I did sand and file on my window openings to make them more defined and sanded down the trim on wheel openings.
  5. Ya know, looking at the picture from Luc, maybe the kit designers made the "wheels" off of the wheelcover diameter, which is quite a bit smaller than the rim size. Or is there an external lip to represent the wheel? You guys catch way more than I do. The kit pics look a lot like a bo0rnco to me. I thought the tires were way tall instead of hte rim being too small. Either way, I can't decide whether I want to build this version or whatever version follows. probably won't do both.
  6. Well, I'm going to drag this one up again. I'm finally getting around to building it. Almost done - about an hour's worth left on it. Mine is an original issue so it has all the issues mentioned here. I have read the entire post...again... All in all, it is a great kit to me. I don't own, or know anyone who owns a real cuda. So to me this one looks pretty good. Way better than the old Monogram AAR thing. Even I could see the problems with that one. Maybe the extra hole in the inner fender is the 8th distributor cap hole... lol Actually, from older kits, some manufacturer made the heated hoses with a clamp that would glue to a hole in the inner ffender - maybe that is what it was for and they slipped and forgot to mold it that way. IDK. The details on the parts is great. The interior. The shifter - woulda looked better in chrome maybe BUT the detail might have been obscured? I really like hte shift pattern decal. Finally got it down and snug to the knob. Then hid it with the dashboard. The engine compartment looks good and feels nice to me. I'm really okay with teh level they did. My kit wasn't flashy or twisted or any other damage. The decals were flat. Tires with no sidewall detail are a let down, but that's part of the age - licensing, etc. Why in the world a tire mfr would charge licensing... it's advertising. that would be my thought. I think it's going to be a nice kit for my shelf. I'm not a competitive modeler. And it isn't as nice [I think] as the Merc Woody, 83 H/O or Pace car H/o. Those were the 3 before this one. I did get the Merc and Cuda at same time - for Christmas after they came out, I think. one detail a lot of the models have missed and no one has complained about is the thin chrome trim around the grille. I think I have seen ONE build with that detail. I'm going to attempt that trim. It looks to be engraved, even if a bit soft. Kinda like the chrome around the taillights, except thinner. The rest is good or bad, but I'm glad we have this nice kit to haggle over the details. At least its not a one piece chassis that fits several cars, like the old MPC mustangs? C'mon guys, with all the old stuff out there, these kits are really pretty nice. And yes, it's a shame that the details couldn't have been absolutely correct. Have any changes been made yet? Randy C
  7. Don't polish it. Leave it just like it is. Already too shiny for the real car...lol Do you have plaid inserts for the seats????
  8. Beautiful builds that show what can be done wtih these older toolings. Builds like this are inspiring to me to try these now. I really like that Bonneville. Super sharp and isn't in the "Camaro/Mustang/Chevell/Corvette" mold. Nor the hot rods. Showroom stock in the colors used back in the day. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Tim, What part of SWVA? I'm in NMNC (Mt AIry, NC) Finding more and more folks that are close... back to redlines...
  10. I love this build - looks like it was just pulled out of the barn. At least the tires held air long enough to get it out and photographed! I'm getting ready to (finally) build my original issue of this one. I've been waiting til I could decide on the best color combination. Yeah it's taken 16 years to get to it.
  11. I have a tractor trailer kit that has a race bike included. I think the bike is diecast. I haven't looked at it in years. I can't remember who made the kit though - I used the box top painted purple for a school project for my daughter. then put the lid back on box when done. Would have to go to storage space and sig around for it. But it was a race bike. Could be made to look like a "track day" bike in back of pickup maybe. So there are some out there.
  12. Could be worse? Could be the 1/20 scale MPC sourced Desert Dogs... Had those in parts stash from long ago. They were just wrong for 1/24/5 kits. Finally used them on a lindberg 1/20 Nissan. Oh so right on there. I have seen since that there were 1/20 MPC kits that used them. And they look right on there.
  13. On the first post I have the option to "report post". I want to report you for sharing PORN on this thread...lol Looks great! I'm torn btw this version or whatever Revell cooks up for a second version later... I'm more interested in it for the accuracy of the kit than the subject itself. I don;t care so much WHAT a kit is if it's this nice. But can't afford or want a lot of Broncos. It's a dilemma...
  14. Oh okay. And mine will only hold the "lead" out of a pencil. Not a handle. Thanks for the info though.
  15. Wife & I do use it on the occasional jigsaw puzzle (why can't we build a model together like a puzzle), but that stuff doesn't seem to be something I would use on a model kit. The spray stuff says acrylic, but it smells "solvent-y" like the stuff we are used to using on models. Flows out nicely and stays thin. I guess what I liked is that is glossed up without getting so thick like some clears that have to be built up to get to shine. The dead flat might be good for carpet floors if not using embossing powder or fuzzy fur.
  16. Yes, if it's like the ones I have, not very good. lots to do. That's probably why mine are still in the original boxes.
  17. I can't remember if my old Dart had insulation or not. that's one of those things you never pay much attention to... lol. Yours looks fine I guess? lol. I do think about painting in but never do. Glad youre adding it in.
  18. I hope you have decided against it. Someone tried to give me the revell (?) kit once. turned it down. Even I have some standards. OMG those are awful.
  19. I have a LOT of decal sheets with 3 stripe decals left because the first one was sucha a FAIL.
  20. What kind of compass will hold an Xacto blade? The ones I have are part of a set that someone gave me many years ago and will only hold the metal pins and a pencil lead. Not big enough to hold a blade. that would be awesome to be able to do that. Or am I not seeing it right in my mind?
  21. I have used decanted paints for many years and that worked best. But I got to say that being able to use a spray can is easier and quicker than the prep and cleanup required for proper airbrush use. I will also be glad to get my airbrush set up running again to be able to paint other parts. Nice to start a project being able to airbrush most everything and go back with detail brushes. We'll all figure it out eventually.
  22. Anyone ever tried Modge Podge clear gloss acrylic in a spray can? Wife & I were going through her craft box last evening - we're recently married and I didn't know she had this other than her box of spray paint. So I looked at it and sprayed some out to see how it smelled - hmmm....smells like spray paint. And I looked at label. Still good. I had a hood with crazed paint and used it for a test. Sprays nicely. Lays down as good as any clear spray I've ever used. Not a super slick shine, but glossed up the B5 (ish) blue base coat on my 70 Cuda. It could probably be polished out more, but for now, I'm leaving it as is. More like I think a car should look. I havbe no need for show car shines. Too much work for me. Don;t flame me..lol But try it. I used it over plastiKote blue with no apparent ill effects. And no, I didn't take a picture before or after for comparison. I didn't have my phone. But I'll try to get a shot tonight of the body if it hasn't melted into a hopeless blob from some unknown chemical reaction... I haven't done any pics of this build because do we really need another Cuda build? I'm not breaking any new ground on it and am a little miffed at Revell over this one. Too many weird molding issues - Distributor, carbs, soft window frames, wheels are not well-defined, interior door handles are conCAVE instead of CONVEX etc. Stuff that really shouldn't happen, especially when they have done Cudas and challengers before. At any rate - for the moment, Modge Podge gets a "recommended". If it dries out hard and such, it will go highly recommended.
  23. Looks good. And unlike my full detail, this one is finished - TWICE! LOL
  24. Awesome. If it were mine, the wheels woould be dulled down to look older. but I get the chroome effect as well. Beautiful. Wish I had in 1:1
  25. This is very interesting to me. In the last couple years, I went through a separation and divorce, etc. I lost access to my airbrush and haven't had time to set it up since getting resettled recently. So I'm rattle-canning til I can get the airbrush workstation set back up. I used to use Plastikote and had no worries, from the can or decanted. But now I have been using the Rustoleum/Duplicolor stuff (I call it BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH) from WalMart or AutoZone. Just can't get the results I used to, I hate having to experiment to re-learn with the new materrials. I don;t have the cash to buy 3 or 4 kits to waste the bodies. The closest HL is almost an hour away. The LHS is 30 minutes away and always a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH shoot as to what they will actually have on any given day. Only time I can get there is Saturday as well. And that's my time to do Honey dos most weeks. I would be very interested in Ace's rattle can techniques to help me get better can finishes. When I spray wet out of a can, that is usually a bad outcome. And it may be the primer I'm on now. Eventually I will get my airbrush set back up and try Art's methods. Most of which I'm close to but probably need to lower the pressure more from what I used to use. Great thread on paints and techniques, folks. Thanks.
