  1. razor saw? Not sure if a scribe or dental pick would work with the metal. But I used a razor saw to cut a new fender line at bottom in a recent build.
  2. NICE!
  3. Seems like the large scale kits I've seen are simply bigger versions of the 1/24. Warts and bottle melt and all. The detail isn't improved, just made larger to see the compromises.
  4. I got the school bus yellow version last week. My wife bought me the whole release set. Pretty neat little replicas.
  5. NICE! Always love the Tucker models.
  6. Yes those tires are horrendous for an 80s car. Why can't we have proper radials from the 80s to present IN THE BOX????
  7. DONE! Well, a couple of touch ups left.
  8. It is finished but haven't taken pics yet. My wife and her mother went absolutely nuts over it. So no matter what I see wrong with it, it was worth building. yes the wheel covers are froma 72, but that particular wheel cover makes it a Maverick. Thanks to Lizz62 for those. They are nice enough for a display. And if you strip them, the detail is pretty good on the body casting. But then again, there are some rough edges and such to be dealt with.
  9. Nice. I love to see detail painted and modified HWs and MBs and other 1/64s. So much more avilable there than in plastic now. How many times can I build these reissues? But can get new 1/64s in all sorts of stuff that isn't in plastic.
  10. Nice. I'm trying to get out of 1/18 now. The new stuff is beautiful. Congrats on your score.
  11. Did you try sticking the tape to the residue and pulling it off again? Sometimes works. May be too late after trying other things though.
  12. Wow! What a cool thing. I got my dad's 3 or 4 Mint cars after he died. I really need to get them out and freshen them up. I know his cleaning people knocked some parts off. but there is a 49 Buick, A model T and an old (20s? Caddy) in there. Great score. I'm definitely checking the seller.
  13. This is one I'm working on. The car my wife learned to drive in. Well, ok, it was 4 door and had different wheel covers. But my wife loves it so far.
  14. oh btw, here's my real Edge.
  15. So this is apparently the ONLY Ford Edge model of this year you can get? I got it off ebay from England for about $11 incl shipping. That was the cheapest. They are availabel from all parts of the world EXCEPT USA for various prices. And the baseplate has Universal Hobbies on it, which used to do Eagle's Race, I think? Part of the 007 Quantum of Solace cars. I have a 2007 Edge in Blazing Copper and wanted a model. So I ordered this and am blown away by the details. The interior is IDENTICAL to mine. Even the Shift knob has the "OD off" button. In 1/43 no less. I snapped this much back together to show my wife. can't wait to get it finished. I'm almost 51 and this is the first model EVER that matches something I drive perfectly. Coincidentally, I also saw a 74 Nova 4 door (!) squad car listed as well. The 007 cars may be a resoure to investigate for some new things.
  16. Tim's work does look better than a lot of what I've seen recently. That result might be worth the expense.
  17. X2 on Espo's comment
  18. Back when I started in teh sign industry, we used a product called "spraylat" I think. It is a latex rubber that can be brushed on or sprayed. When dry, you cut and peel and spray next color. Or rubber again and repeat til you get all the colors on. This sounds like about the same thing. Like the Plasti Dip painting that is so popular in some car markets. Should work. Use the colored top coat paints and you could reasonably do two toning with the peelable paints. I was going to do my motorcycle fender with it to cover some paint gouges but it only says about 6 months outdoors. so it may work best as a masking medium. Good idea.
  19. I've looked at lots of videos of the Molotow and just can't bring myself to pay the price. I can do the same things with Chrome silver testors and get close enough. I use several different silver tones for various trim bits. And I don't see where the Molotow is worth the extra cost and effort. But I can also see how this is a game changer for some folks.
  20. NICE! Did you ever see the one Doug Whyte (?) did in the "other" magazine a long time ago? It was pretty incredible and inspiring. I love your wheel choice. This is one of those kits I would love to build and have started a long time ago, but never finished. And bought another to do "right". But can't ever decide where/what "right" is. Good luck completing yours. Good start.
  21. Art retracted his statement and he seems like a pretty standup guy from what I've seen. I loved the 1/43s from Revell. I bought both Cobra and Vette. I have never finished the Cobra but still have it for a "someday". the Vette was beautiful when finished. I also bought several of the GS kits from AM. Was VERY disappointed when the Roadster never came out. I would love to build that one. Being from NC, I was hoping AM would make it big. The kits were so very nice. I built a BUNCH of Monogram NASCAR kits over the years. Even the funky Pontiac/Buick/Olds bodies that didn't fit the old Chassis very well. We all did back in the day. Thanks for the little history lesson and anytime you want to provide more inside tales from any of your model company days, I'll be glad to read it. I have always been fascinated by the history and the processes used to determine what is kitted.
  22. Nice subtle hot rod.
  23. This is a kit that I would love to have in a usable form. I'm a reasonable builder, I don;t mind having to fix some things, but as the original post said, this kit OOB is completely unusable. I think this is the only kit in my life that I have ever thrown the entire thing away. Absolutely nothing of use in the box. This build is beautiful! Outstanding workmanship and the patience involved to create it!
  24. I think it looks great now. To my way of building, I wouldn't mess with it anymore. I wouldn't even try to rub it out, but I'm unusual that way. Looks good, glad you got it fixed.
  25. The original Lindberg versions wouldn't take being put in a dehydrator to cure paint. One of those DAMHIK things.... I still have a couple of those bodies...
