  1. Oh my! That is museum work right there. Unbelievably beautiful. THanks for sharing the journey. It was a treat to see what all went into this and everyone tht followed probably learned a thing or two. I did. What's next???
  2. That is awesome. Beautiful. Absolutely no place in my collection but I can appreciate the detail. Seems like of late the 1/64 arena is really stepping up their game on detail. Are the decks functional as well? Or just assembled to look as if?
  3. Rusto paints are a bit "different" in delivery as you and other have noted. However, it is not impossible. I was having some issues, but was noticing that HPIguy was getting some nice finishes with Rusto right out of the can. So I looked back through his videos - he has a "how to paint" video. Also, in watching his technique, it is a lot to do with distance and moving faster than you might be used to. I built the Edsel when it was first issued. Bought a MCG photo etch kit too for the scripts. It was a fun enough build. I'll keep watching this one just to see your color combination - love those 50s paint schemes.
  4. I missed this post. Sorry - I'd like to see that orange one.
  5. Looks like a great start to me.
  6. I'm going to take a guess because it has been probably 15 - 20 years. I would think, knowing me, that it is brass metallizer. I stripped the chrome and plastic is black. And they've been handled quite a bit over the years. Nothing else like them in any other kit so they have to go on this one. I have no idea what they represent. And I have no plan to repaint or anything - they are aging so well. I do wish I had some taller pie crust slicks though.
  7. Will do. No new updates other than I have the rear splash pans and firewall in. Neither are necessarily 100% accurate, but from viewing distance, should be okay. Hopefully this weekend will bring more progress. I do have a load of painted parts waiting for me to get back to bench.
  8. This build (as well as most of yours I've seen) shows how thoroughly detailed a model can be. IF not the pinnacle, then it's mighty close. In my book you are up there in the rarified air of Bill Geary and Juha Airio for attention to detail.
  9. Thanks - I wish they fit as well as on the diecast though. If I were to do it again, I'd sand more excess out of the gap between the bumper and filler. And taper the rear quarter to match as needed. The taillight lenses were a bit stressful - I could envision them being dropped and lost forever.
  10. In the kit.
  11. Excellent! Thanks. I think that is what I will do. In my modeling universe, my guy would have replaced the top with a metal roof, then opened up the "sunroof" of his hot rod for the extra fun factor. And in my world, I would like to have the interior a bit more visible with the extreme top chop. Maybe stain with something gray so it looks like the top has been opened more than closed. Thanks for sharing those as well.
  12. What an interesting story. Even moreso is the connection to Randy Lanier and the Blue Thunder team. I saw them and the other Marches run at Charlotte in the CamelGT races in the 80s. And I have the 1/32 Monogram slot car of the Blue Thunder March.
  13. Ok, I like a good scandal - where can I read about it? And the model is great! If I had space.... and money....
  14. Phenomenal!
  15. I think that almost completes my work truck collection. I did win a 53 International panel truck last night. Same paint as the 56 Ford. With load. These are really nice models, even if the one is a bank.
  16. Polish the headlights and it looks like it would look pretty new.
  17. Those MPC trucks were great as a kid. Build AND play with in my case. I think I had the 77, but it was one of the ones with the motorcycle. I don;t think I was using paint yet, either. Tube glue. You can imagine.
  18. So here is an idea.... I don't think I want shiny though. And the blower motor from kit. Something that would be impossible to see around. lol. Mine won't be that low, unfortunately.
  19. My edit to explain that my phone and the forum wouldn't work together didn't even work. Photos are added now.
  20. Thanks. I'll think on this this week. Probably be weekend before I get back on it. I was thinking of painting the body as if the roof is steel. The insert would look like a fabric insert. I'm a ways out from real hot rods. Been a few years. The body is basically complete though. Doors are fitted and glued. Vent and windshield frame are glued. The wood framing idea is out there as well.
  21. Might have to look up Tim Boyd's article.
  22. The wheels were in that release of the kit. They are too cool to not use. At least that's my thought. They're chromed originally. And yeah the top is chopped way down. But when I started it, real rat rods were doing it like that. It's crazy low. I like it. No filler either. I like the imperfections of no filler
  23. Got these from family for my birthday. Snap On is a Crown Premium. NAPA is a First Gear. I should wiped them down before photos. And I unloaded the accessories into my building diorama
  24. OK, folks, question... the new 29 A has the top insert from the 30 coupe. Should, I cut out and leave the insert removable to see the interior, or just leave the top as is. Can't see much of the interior thru the mail slot windows. This is going to be another non shiny rod, so it can kinda be whatever I want. If I were building it for real, I'd like the sunroof.
  25. Thanks. I do appreciate it.
