  1. That is a beautiful car. And yes, it's not as easy to find them complete. Kinda funny/ironic that they give you a magnet to remove the moon discs - aren't they supposed to be aluminum? That's one I look at when I see them listed. And watch if the price is reasonable...
  2. Don't do it - too many black naugas were killed to make black naugahyde interiors. To me, black is a cliche' color. I LOVE 60s cars with interior and exterior same color. Surely there was the option for that interior.
  3. My FM came in yesterday. Nice - needed a cleaning like so many do. Maybe this weekend I can do a side-by-side comparo from all angles. Both are very nice models. in my case, I only have about $10 difference in the 2. The M2 was $20 as part of a deal with free shipping and the FM was $33 with shipping. Neither have boxes. I feel certain the FM will be heavier, but with the M2 up on the shelf, it's hard to tell how they will shake out. And I'm not going to compare them to real specs. Just compare them to each other and see how they do. One will likely be sold - do I really need 2? or a repaint of the M2? Decals avaialable? Seems like in the long run, I should sell the M2 and hope the FM goes on up in value?
  4. Super nice! Thanks for sharing.
  5. I am looking forward to putting mine next to the FM. My M2 is the regular version. But that 350R does look tempting. I've always loved that front bumper on those.
  6. I ordered. My wife is excited. I'll build it to whatever she buys if she gets one. If not, I'll build it like what she wanted it to be. And it is something besides a the normal stuff we keep getting in the US market. And not some super high zoot sports car.
  7. Beautiful. And can I ask how much? I am already cringing. I did get those lenses you sent and am looking forward to getting back to my GT 40 Plastic.
  8. I went ahead and ordered. I think I can make it look good enough to suit her, from what I saw on the video. Looks like it will assemble well enough. And I'll wait till she buys hers and detail it exactly like hers. Unless I can talk her into a Lincoln... lol
  9. My wife is about to buy a real one of these I think. So this may need to come to our house. I can paint it like the one she wants.
  10. 3D print would seem to be the best idea.
  11. I agree. And not just Mustangs. The DM Cutlass comes to mind. A bit flat. But every scale model has some issue. We are constantly picking details apart on here. I seem to be amassing quite a few Mustangs. With the one in another thread, I think that makes 8 in diecast and plastic in 1/24&1/25. In first gen. I have a few others as well of the newer versions. Kinds like when I counted my Firebirds- 15 of those. No one that see my cars notices.
  12. Thanks. Hood looks a bit open. Have to check it out. And missing the antenna. I might fix that. Or not. We'll see...
  13. Cool. When mine gets here, I'll have to take the one I have down and see what it really is. It is 3rd column from right middle car. Looks like it has a bumper on front. But I can't see it or reach it without a step stool. These shelves are over the interior doors in living room. It's a nice enough car that I didn't mind putting it close to the others. It MAY BE an M2. Ebay has some that have SOLD from $18 - $70. I didn't get a box with mine on that one either and I think it was like $15 maybe? None like it for sale currently that I saw.
  14. I *might* be able to help. I have repaired models in the past. PM me and we'll trade emails and see what you are talking about.
  15. Revell also did a diecast of the T bird. I sold mine recently. But it is out there. One of the Mints did an Edsel convertible in turquiose. I doubt that can be made into anything resembling the Edsel in the movie.
  16. I use lacquer thinner for all paints in an old testors liquid cement jar. I never use water as a solvent or cleaner. Use same techniques as others have mentioned. Let the solvent do the work. clean brushes till no color comes out on your paper towel or whatever you are wiping on. Then a couple more dips to make sure. NEVER do anything to the bristles that moves them from their original orientation. Store in a pencil container, brush point up or lay flat with nothing touching the point - it will deform. You can shape your brushes after cleaning with a bit of spit on your fingertips. Let it dry just that way in the point you want. If you have extra bad tip shape, you can massage in a bit of petroleum jelley (vaseline) to [maybe] help them come back to shape. Now this will also keep paint from hardening up. BUT, you will have to clean the brush of the vaseline before using the brush again. And that can be tough to get it all out where it doesn't contaminate your painting. And an old sign painter trick I used back in the 80s that still can work is to soak the brushes in transmission fluid. My sign quills were cleaned, then I would work transmaission fluid into the bristles. Again, keeps enamel soft in there and will help the bristles keep their shape or reshape. The lettering brushes were usually often laid on their sides in an aluminum tray wet with T fluid. You must clean them before painting, but easier to clean than vaseline. Brushes do not last forever. And you may have to pull an errant bristle out on occasion, if it refuses to stay part of the shape. I have one old brush that keeps hanging in there even though it has paint built up at the ferrule and the ferrule rattles on the handle. I use a bit of super glue at the handle ferrule to hold it in place. just can't let it go because it is still a useful, faithful brush. And I rarely use over a #1 brush. If I need a brush larger than that, it's time to airbrush or spray can parts. But I do have #2,4, and 6 in flat brushes I bought at a yard sale that are soft enough for larger areas though. And the flat tip will chisel well enough to paint a shapr line holding the brush sideways or at an angle.
  17. I bought a couple 1mm pens. The tip is pretty hard, so it doesn't conform very well. I ended up screwinghte point off and using a paintbrush mostly. The 1mm tip will work if you use a very light touch and follow a line. But it can blob out too and make a bigger mess of your handiwork. Last time I just bought a refill to be able to brush paint. I'm better with a brush.
  18. I won/bought a Franklin Mint GT350 last night. It was cheap enough with no box. Ebay photo below I also have another one high up on a shelf that I need to get down and compare. Anyone remember who else made a GT350? Both are white with blue stripes. I was thinking Johnny Lightning, but can't find a listing on that one. Could be M2? But we'll be comparing in a few days either way. Should be a fun comparison at any rate. Maybe end up selling one of them. No real point in having 2 unless they end up being different enough. I also have the revellogram plastic built up in blue with white stripes. Might throw it into the mix just for fun.
  19. Yes mine is the Revell kit version for sure. I also bought the prebuilt Charger with the bad guys in it. That one is still in box.
  20. I think the light green will be the choice. Wife's dad connection and all. I'll print off some emblems from the internet, detail the grill and trim a bit. Maybe some half round in the coves for lower level trim. Should transform it completely. The Lincolns are a thing with my wife and me. The navy is hers, the light blue is mine. And there is the regular common run burgundy one in another part of the house. The navy is supposedly fairly rare. It was supposed to be a Ford dealer award, I think?
  21. Thanks, I agree. I had a black one that I didn't care a thing about, sold it. And I have the Ertl Precision 1/18 which is such a nice model. But this one will go well with my 55 and 56.
  22. Well my thought was to cover the blue with white. It may get a total repaint and see if I can find some F-100 decals
  23. Check it out. Haven't seen one of these up close before. I like it all but the color. Ugh. I bought it with no idea what color it was. But it was cheap, so it's ok. Suggestions for paint? I would like a nice sky blue. Other ideas? More two tone? What kind might have F-100 fender decals? That's all that's on the body sides? Moebius kits? Wife's dad had a light green 74 so that's out there as well.
  24. Bullitt Mustang I found. No brake detail and I don't have a photo comparison. I do like this one though.
  25. Recents. Franklin mint 57 Chrysler 300 LTD Ed. #80/500. I wanted one of these with the wire wheels. Bought it off diecast.org auction for about half the eBay price with boxes, liner, docs, and the top and boot. 49 Ford Woody. Less than $30 delivered, but no box.
