Revell 1/24th scale Jaguar E-Type FHC: Test Shots
randyc replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm looking forward to this kit. I have a LOT of kits that are panned for whatever reason. No one that sees my kits, me included, see the issues that are raised here. No kit ever comes out perfect yet it becomes such a big deal here. Could they have done something differently to fix it ahead? Maybe. We armchair engineer these kits. IF they scan and scan and scan these kits, they may still not be perfect. It's frustrating to see you guys get so mad with each over in what amounts to a TOY CAR. 90% of the world see us as grown men playing with toys. If the inaccuracies are so grevious to you, then don't buy it. That simple. I won't buy it till a few of you have bought and built and I can make my own decision. And if you are claiming that it is so grossly incorrect, then woo hoo, you win. And what did you win? Like so many things, there are folks who will argue with you forever so did you really win anything? Lots of negativity. -

Action Tony Stewart Craftsman Truck 2002 Chevy Silverado
randyc replied to THarrison351's topic in Diecast Corner
Yeah, may as well. Man that market surely has tanked. When I owned a hobby shop, we were selling Action almost as fast as we could get them. And for good money. I still have the 1/18 2001 Corvette C5R Dale Earnhardt etc car. The clean first issue. Shoulda sold it years ago. But I do like the model even though it's in box right now. But I could sell it and not miss it as well. -

Selling Car Model Kits on eBay
randyc replied to dwdirks's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've used the Global shipping program. I have no idea what the buyer ultimately pays, but I only have to ship to Kentucky, which is usually $7 or $8. I'm not serious enough a seller to get involved in the international paperwork. -
Try this - you may need more than one kit with the size of your cabiniet? This was one of the cheapest on Amazon. It's been on the nightlight setting since setup and is working fine. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TSZ21DZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am fortunate that my wife is very patient and generous. A lot of guys tell how they aren't "allowed" to have cars everywhere. My wife lets us have cars everywhere but the master bath and "her" kitchen (I do 95% of the cooking) We even have little car displays in the 2 guest baths. We use AMT slammers as door stops at the bedrooms. She found this and immediately showed it to me to replace the smaller bookshelf. We have a 2 y/o grandson that likes to be into a LOT of things as 2 y/os do, so this solves that issue as well. OMG, I'm so NOT good with wood. I'm good with this. ?

Selling Car Model Kits on eBay
randyc replied to dwdirks's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I buy and sell via ebay. It is what it is. And I can buy and sell whenever the mood strikes. I don't have to pack it all up to go to a show or deal with internet flakes on FB, CL. Had a couple weird experiences. Worst was a Danbury Mint car I sold, then buyer claimed I packed it poorly and was damaged and was incensed. And wanted his money back. I told him to pay the shoipping back to me and I'd refund his money. He complained about all the cars he bought that were broken and blah blah blah. He sent car back. I couldn't PROVE it, but I think he sent back a diiferent car than I sent him. I had already deleted my listing photos and had no photos of car I sent., but I think it had part that were missing on mine and vice versa. It might become a hot rod someday. Packard Sedan - wouldn't that be cool? Or I may part it out - good money in that as well. I sold enough to buy a new riding mower a couple years ago so I've done okay weeding out my stuff. -
Wife found this cabinet offered on FB for$50. It's My Airy Furniture from when we had a furniture industry here. MA furniture factory burned in 1997 and was never rebuilt. Anyway, we bought the cabinet. All solid wood. Spent$20 on an LED kit. Space for more cars now. The bookshelf it replaces was slam full with just these cars. In fact all of these did not fit in and on top of old case. So this is way better to me. And more childproof to the grand baby

I still have a bunch of Scaley track I need to sell someday. You can fit 1/24 on it, but no passing!!! lol I eventually routed a 6'x 12' layout, 3 lanes. It was designed for up to 1/24, but there were some squeezes that 1/32 wouldn't make so you have to plan a bit. BUt 2 1/24s would fit and be crazy enough.

Those look good!

They were fun to run for sure.

I should pull my Cobra Daytona out and do photos with them together. I like this one better than I thought I would - the seats are from like a 1989 photo I found - so they aren't completely wrong - depends on what iteration of the car they photographed. I think the Penske roadster has more accurate GS seats? Would still love to find an Exoto someday for reasonable, maybe. These and the Cobra were the greatest race cars of all time to me.

I built the WRECKED version from Martinsville. Found an aritcle in Stock Car Racing magazine with a pretty good photo of the car in race. Built it twice - sold the first one for what felt like a Mint - a whole $50 back in like '93. I sold the second one sometime in the last 5 years. And have no photos left durn it. Benny Parsons said Gant's win streak ended with the wreck but he won it anyway. But love your build and glad you shared - I loved following NASCAR at that time. All I can find for images.
-
I loved the Cartoon Networks cars - I had 3 of them, this one, a yellow one, and a snap #9, I think? Red Taurus. Built with one of the kids, later attached to a slot car chassis and raced for real.

WEird but workable. ?

LOL. Especially in light of Carroll Shelby asking Chevy for a couple free otoros to start his project and being rejected. Love the hot rod version. these are models afterall.
