  1. This just arrived from e-bay. It is built by Al Hogue from the Great North. He did an excellent job. And.... because he did such a great job packing it, it went straight into the display case. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  2. I always liked the sterling too. I got to drive a bradley once. Not a great ride. My legs hit the steering wheel and it was hard to make a turn. (I was pretty skinny back then too). I was not impressed.
  3. I have been chasing this grail for a few years. I finally stepped up to the price. It came in pieces and am happy about that. The Seller removed them so they would not break off. It should be easy to reassemble. No broken or missing parts. The build is actually very clean with a little detail added. Hosted on Fotki
  4. Thanks for the info. I'll have to figure out how to get a 3D mesh file. The price is right.
  5. I am trying to replicate a set of valve covers. The largest issue is the Upper and lower case Detroit Diesel raised lettering. I have only found the raised lettering in all caps. So here are my questions: 1) How small can 3D printing go? These letters are maybe 2-3mm high. 2) What do you need to send a 3D printer? 3) If it could work, what would be an approximate cost for a set of 2 valve covers. 1:1 valve cover Hosted on Fotki What I have to work with Hosted on Fotki Thanks for your insights.
  6. The story is as good as the model and the model is pretty darn good.
  7. Very nice Mr. Snake. Good choice on the restoration instead of a rebuild. Those time capsules have a special value. Nixon admin? Fitting tribute for the introduction of the 55 mph speed limit and double daylight saving time. (That was him, yes?)
  8. Excellent work!
  9. One of my favorite kits. You did a great job with it, John! I like that you raised the scoop so it pokes through the top of the roof. Good upgrade.
  10. Wow, Dan! You did an excellent job with that! I like the one piece body and rear hatch. I've always wanted to narrow the rear and upsize the rear tires to fit the power of the Hemi.
  11. I have been hunting this one for a long, long time. I finally got a good e-bay price on one. The e-bay pic Hosted on Fotki The box showed up today. Marked FRAGILE - good. Looks like a smaller box surrounded by packing - good. Pick up the smaller box - the model drops out the open end wrapped in a plastic grocery bag. Parts follow. Poop. Broken axel, driving lights and nerf bars. The seller was doing so well. He just failed to wrap the model before putting in a 6-sided inner box (instead of an open ended box).So much for putting this one straight on the shelf. I'll have a little more repair to do. I knew it was missing one exhaust trumpet, but I also have the make the rear end cover and headlight lenses. Hosted on FotkiI know the risks of buying built models; I'm still thrilled have to have it. It will be fairly easy too take apart and restore.
  12. Wow Chris, That is just spot on perfect. I am so glad you take your time with this. It's worth it.

  14. Great work overall. The grill and dash are my favorite parts. I would display this one on a mirror for sure.
  15. That screw drive vehicle needs some custom exploration. Way Cool! Mr. Snake, The Tarantula would be called Reentry and it would have either an Orange or While paint with a entering the atmosphere flame job. Here is a Lil' Coffin truck. Brad Leisure also had the same idea, but he went with a fleetside. Sorry, I don't have a pic of his art. Hosted on Fotki
  16. Like this T'Rantula update? Hosted on Fotki
  17. I remember that one, Pete. I saw it at a model show and asked you about it. If I remember right , you did it once then redid it. Excellent styling and super clean execution. That one will always be a classic. If you want to change platforms, try some of Ira Dunham's space hot rods. You would have to find the thread.
  18. Its a 51 chevy fastback crossed with a 956 Porsche... And in need of a refresh.
  19. I like this thread. I am always looking for something different in both model cars and 1:1 cars. Rat Rods had their run, but that look quickly got old for me. Every once in a while I see some cool ideas like Bill's car above. One of my favorite tends - along the lines of road cars turned street cars - are old rods and muscle cars turned road racers like the Jet Hot duce and the Rear engine 37 Ford. 20. Thanks for the heads up. I see them. Not sure what the problem is.
  21. Hmm. I'm trying to think. Did they have berings then? I saw some at the exhibit too, but they were very large. Here is a link to the differential. I'm not sure if it answers the question as to "Why?" http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-04-19/a-model-of-da-vincis-design-of-a-cart-with-a-differential./7336748
  22. It's been a year and a half since this project got tucked away for school, and new career and a house remodel. It's back on the bench now and here is where I am at. Today I finished the bracing on the inside of the bed. It's pretty intricate. I still need to add the mounting brackets. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I also got a start on the valve cover. I couldn't find any replicas out there. I learned from the crew here on the Truckers page that they are a one year only item. At this point I have no way to make uppercase/lowercase lettering, so I will have to settle for the all uppercase ones that I have. Hopefully, I can produce one and cut a deal with a resin caster to make a set. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Thanks for looking. Time to grade papers. Scott
