1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Scott Colmer replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Masterpiece. -
I hear ya, Bill cause I hear them too. Drives me nuts when people impose their music on others. I've got the kid behind be who can't work in the yard without the radio blaring from his truck. Selfish jerks.

It's tough getting good service technicians these days. Our Whirlpool Gold oven started going on the fritz. The heating elements would just go off. The panel would go blank but the power was still there because the light worked. An online search indicated the control panel was going out. My wife remembered she was happy with the people who did our Fridge so she called them again. I'm not sure who she meant to call but a Sears repairman showed up. The cost for the visit is 100.00. OK. He was rude to Gram, he was rude to me, and he was rude to my wife. He confirmed the control panel is going out. It took him 10 minutes. The name the estimate.... 750.00 for the part. 250.00 for the labor. We paid him his 100.00 and sent him on his way. I check Amazon and found the part for 150.00. I found an excellent you tube video that perfectly shows every step in installing the control panel from start to finish. It also lets you know the tools you need, (nothing special) and has some safety tips. The entire video is only 21 minutes long! I should have sucked it up and tried to do the work myself from the beginning AND we should have checked YELP before letting these people come out. Everything I said above was repeated in one testimony after another. I added one more 1 star review to the list. There is no option for 0 stars.

Milner dragster updated pics 6/16/17

Thanks Brad! I was planning to go the same route as Dr. Kerry. Something more accurate to the actual movie car. So what you make should be a great fit. -

Great progress Dr. Kerry. Keep it going. If the person who is making the decals would like to sell a second set, please pm me. Scott -
I really enjoyed watching you put this one together. Great work. Very fun to look at!

Modern top fuel roll cage shield
Scott Colmer replied to KiwiMike's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It may not be too hard to make your own that would be in scale thickness. These started with styrene bucks that were used to stretch heated plastic sheet over. The end result came out pretty good. Once they were trimmed painted, they really looked good. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki You can kinda see them in back. These went in-between the bars of the roll cage instead of encasing them. I thought it looked better. Hosted on Fotki -
Model Cars Magazine, The Future
Scott Colmer replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So here is the question as taken from the OP..."how to turn the numbers/unique visitors into conversions/subscribers, please let me know." I believe Gregg means print subscribers, not e-subscribers. Soon . what cool things about this site can be put into magazine form to attack more magazine readers? My thought is to take a subject, lead with the site, and finish in the magazine. Scott -

I'm following too. Let me know where you get the decals. I could use a set too. -
That's AWESOME! What a great idea.

I think the fork things are friction shocks.

Finally got one! It was just a bit high on the price but doable. Besides, look at that custom lettering and striping. Why do I NEED this? Because it was the first car I purchased. It had no engine so I had to scrounge the parts for one and got burned a bit in the process. Mine was root beer brown with a primer brown top, shoed with Cragers (60s and airshocks in the back and overly cut front springs for that evil rake) self ported 289 with headers and a Holley. There was top loader with a V-gate shifter before I switched to an automatic. There was also a poorly functioning nitrous system. At one time it had 4:55 gears that were welded up. That and the top loader meant all day doughnuts. So the question is do I recreate it or build the all black, mini tubbed dream I had in mind. Hosted on Fotki

AMT Slammers? Anyone build these
Scott Colmer replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Many of the Slammer kits have great wheels and tires. The ones on the police Rambler are from the Black force. These are from the Rambler. Note the flamed tread pattern. Very cool...err. HOT. Hosted on Fotki -

Roberto, I'm going to take a guess and say the roof is from a Bronco. Scott -

Wonderful! I've really enjoyed following this build. What a beautiful piece. -
Ahhhh... 70s Chargers. The memories. My best friend in high school drove his step Dad's 74 440 with those three little vent windows. I remember him literally standing on the gas while he pushed it to max speed on a freeway run. The front end was floating like a piece of drift wood. He eventually spun a rod. Good times. Glad we survived. I look forward to seeing what you do with this one, Mr. Snake.
