  1. Looks good, I like the choice of color, looking forward to the final assembly.
  2. those are both implement front tires, just different styles, and I may be wrong, but I think the Orange Crate tires are 16" tires on polished Halibrand front wheels. The difference between the tires in your photos are they're for two different size tires, one looks like a 4.50x15, and the other a 5.50, or 6.00x15, the amount of ribs across the tire show up the difference in width, and I don't really know how Firestone did difference sizes as far as the edge of the tread was concerned.
  3. Why don't they leave the deleted Satellite parts on the trees? I can't see where it's going to save that much plastic by blocking them off, they kept the front windshield and rear window from the Satellite and we can't use those to build a different type of Street build, some people might want to build an automatic version.

With the addition of a aero drag part that kind of resembles what NASCAR tried in 2000, but about a scale six inches tall, and switching to Hoosier tires with four radial grooves around the tread on the tires, this would look like the street stock series that the Kimmel brothers started, the only under hood change would be switching to a Holley two barrel carb. You can also look at the Street Stock division that Circle Track Magazine has started using bodies like this one.
  5. if you can find an issue of Street Rodder Magazine, look to see if you can find a street roadster or open fender coupe with Firestone implement tires on the front, if you don't find one look at the Coker Tire ad it may have the tire in it. A lot of us have been waiting for this tire to surface, in the real world they were used on the front of Sprint Cars and early track roadsters, and the search for the track roadster look, and a desire for as narrow a front tire as possible led to their migration to the street. SoSome of us that also build race cars have been wanting it for building early sprints and super modified type cars, and it's a really good scale copy of the real tire.

If you want to try something different, I did some experiments on spoons looking for a dark candy purple and the one that really excited me was using Metal Flecks metallic blue (more like a metalflake actually) for the base and the transparent red anodizing color from the same brand (Krylon) came out with a very dark purple that just lights up with a direct light, I tried using a white LED inside a polished on the inside aluminum tube to make a mini spotlight and it worked very well and can be powered by AA batteries or just a single even, hidden under a display base.
  7. I'm surprised that anyone who pays any attention to SEMA shows would have missed this, I guess not all modelers are that interested in new ideas for a different build.
  8. I really like the green, I saw a Merc done in almost the same combination, except that they used a transparent candy green over the black base. It looks like a deep black until the light hits it then you can pick up the green, have you checked to see if you can file the leaves on the top of the front axle to drop it down, you will probably have to file the tab that goes into the cross member a like amount, plus trim the tops on the shock links at the end of the springs.

  10. I haven't had very good luck using the purple stuff stripping lacquer paints, but denatured alcohol, or brake fluid have worked to an extent, I've picked up some 91% isopropyl alcohol because I've been told it works well, but haven't tried it myself yet.
  11. I really like it, it gave me some answers to an idea I've been kicking around for years, think making the body shell fit the 1941 Lincoln Continental kit from Monogram, and coming out with a Zephyr looking custom coupe, with a Viper V10, modified to resemble the Ford V10.
  12. Didn't the first issue of the 50 F1 kit from Revell have an incorrect set of headers for the Ardun heads, but correct for a flathead? And I know it's just me being a putz, but shouldn't the transmission mount be at the end of the trans under the tailshaft housing instead of under the main case? It is a later style four speed isn't it.
  13. Yes, it's a '34 Ford Roadster,,, a Roadster pickup that is, a lot of older stuff with new box art and directions in the box on how to modify the kit to look like the box art. Think of the DTR Jalopy kits of the AMT '32 Ford kits.
  14. Got one started to put the engine out of the Mustang Super Stallion in, and set it aside for another project, this makes me want to drag it back out again. The reason I decided to put the Stallion engine in was because I robbed the blown 3.8 for a Ranger pickup kit, now I'll have two vehicles Ford should have built.
  15. The skirts to me give it what we refer to as the "University of Juarez" look. Might be cool on a cab in Tijuana, but not anything I'd like. Now that burgundy colored one is something else, I'd make room for that in my garage any day.

  17. Just a note about two items, love the two tone touch, and the master cylinder isn't missing, its mounted on a bracket under the firewall, true it hard to check and add brake fluid to, but it's not uncommon with hanging pedals, and a desire to keep the firewall uncluttered.
  18. A lot of people don't know that the chrome on the front and rear windshields is only a small 1/4" piece inside the rubber gasket and it's only purpose was to expand the rubber to hold the glass in. So it would look closer to scale painted semi gloss black.

Dang, now you made me want to get back on my copy of a friend's full size T coupe that was originally built in the '60s, I've got almost everything together in one box, just missing the old top shift trans, but I think the original release '50 Ford f-1 kit might have one, it has the engine from the AMT '34 Ford sedan kit, rear axle is from a Revell model A woody kit, and the body and frame are from the Tall T coupe kit, you gave me the ideas I needed for the chassis, and the interior will be a bench seat with an Indian blanket cover, the original car was shown once way back then as an under construction car, all flat black primer except for the red steelies and the red motor. Keep going, I could use a few more good tips/ideas for this excellent build.
  21. Want to make your money back? A Sacramento area dirt track racer used one of those style bodies to build what was a radical super stock dirt oval car in '76, it even went "down under" as part of the U.S.A. race team that winter and I'd kinda like to build a copy of it. The guy's name was Tony Valente, he was a fairly large rice grower and was president of the California rice growers organization.

I notice a few complaints about what's not in the kit, but I think what we're getting is quite a bargain, we get a set of decals that would probably cost us $15 on the aftermarket, AND we get a pretty good start on a Firebird Trans Am, and an honest one at that, it seems the biggest complaint is the tires, I look at it like we got the model for around $15, after the decals were paid for, so we can afford to pick up some of Round2's excellent muscle car tires and they come two sets to a package so we're getting a good deal there too.

If you get a chance, see if you can find pictures of the # 112 modified known as the "Batmobile" that Gary Balough drove to a dominating win years ago at the Syracuse Mile in New York, that car is credited with changing the division forever and bringing about the current style cars. It willgive you an idea of what could be done for the roof. You can do a search for Gary Balough Batmobile images and get literally hundreds of pictures, including quite a few of some nicely built models of it.
  24. I like the look you have going, it resembles the car that was awarded at the Street Rod Nationals a few years ago, I believe that several of the rodding magazines had different articles covering its construction. But it was a well done little ride.
  25. In reference to the hood change your thinking of, the only thing I would change would be to change the lower moulding section by taking a small pie cut into it, raising the front end slightly and leaving the cowling end as is. I think this would change the silhouette to what you're looking for.
