  1. I would use the stock tri-power 'Vette air cleaner, the triangle shaped one.
  2. The valve covers on these engines were black with brushed fins (just got back from the garage after checking) it isn't a smooth finish, but not a actual wrinkle finis either. all but one of the original engines I've seen were black, the odd ball could have been a dealer replacement, it was the old Ford blue with a black head like the 2.0s were. the only gray engines I've seen were in Mustangs,Fairmont/Granadas, & Ranger pick-ups. Also, mine came with a Ford blue dist cap, orange plug ends, & gray ignition wires, with black ends on the distributor ends.
  3. They use a piece of titanium to make the shower of sparks.
  4. I think this is coming along very nicely, killer job! Just for thought, next time you do a color changing paint like the Kameleons, like you did on the top. Instead of using a straight metallic for a second color use a different shade of the "flip flop" paint, in this case I think the green to silver would have been a great choice.
  5. I think that Revell did this one right, those that one a super detailed kit will build it "their" way, & those that don't or can't will love it as is. We all know that if they had put in all of the super details, that there would be a problem somewhere either in the way the hinges were done, or with the evil warp monster getting to the main shell etc. But this way it's out there for all of us to love & build, & I do believe that a lot more will get finished in this mode.
  6. So how do we get in touch with this "Mace" that he mentions in the facebook account about the "scratch & dent" sale items? Thanks ahead of time for all of the great answers I know I will receive. Del
  7. Real! Not only the newspaper in the blower scoop, but the mold lines on the tires tend to point toward it being a model.
  8. you do know that Revell will send you an extra set of decals if you request them?
  9. Wow! I could use this thing to "play" on my property, I've got some land to level, & this would be just the ticket, not only that but my grandson would just love it! He has so much fun with the riding lawn mower when we mow the fields, this would put him over the top (he's 3 1/2)
  10. If you can get them, the Ford 9" rear axles from AMT mid '90s NASCAR kits work very well for street rod projects, you don't even have to remove any molded in brackets to use them.
  11. I noticed while looking at your photos of the seats that the variations in the color are not consistent from picture to picture, & since you said that it isn't noticeable in person I bet what we are seeing is just light reflections & some shadowing that is showing up in film. Keep up the good work, a great build.
  12. I'm probably wrong on this one, but I'm gonna say it's a model, there's something about those chains that jus' don't look right, & no binders in sight either.
  13. I actually don't like it, do you have one of the original release bumpers to trade?
  14. Probably 'cause this time it is a "California Wheels" series kit instead of one of the "Limited Edition" ones.
  15. (Kinser) I am waiting on that one also, hope they can remove the Goodyear from the tires on that one, like they have on all the street cars (I already have a bazillion of the others,so it would be nice to get some "blank" ones to use on some of the Hoosier era cars).
  16. Not only that, but they reissue a great kit as an SS (good), then the box art doesn't even have any of the SS emblems on it. Some kinda strange, huh?
  17. A little help here, look for them in the stamp department, they are powders that are for making fancy stamps, they are intended to be sprinkled over a glue, then heated, to make a shiny puffy ink style, we just don't heat them (obviously).
  18. And that tips you how? there is a lot of difference between the '61-'62 models & this '57
  19. /addendum: still a model, die-cast, mis alignment on the doors could confuse some, but the window in the door seals it, the real car has a chrome outer frame, this one doesn't.
  20. I have to go along with the masses on this one, on close examination it appears to have some strange paint build-up alont the rear of the front fender, & the front of the door. Model!!
  21. think it's a Bradley, & not a Bailon?
  22. Man, I just gotta say real on this one, of ol' Joe would probably look me up & kill me personally, the style is just there on this one.
  23. I finally opened mine, just couldn't stand it, I especially like the separate fascias, but for a slightly different reason, mine is that there are no mold lines to mess with, resulting in less work to prep for paint & a better chance of not hiding any detail under paint/primer build up. Also what's with the Mach1 style decal for the rear panel, it doesn't show up on either versions on the box, or in the instructions. Is this a hint of things to come?
  24. Gloss Gull Gray is the color that the 1:1 teams use on their cars, so that would probably be the closest to use, & it is still available as a Testors color.
  25. I was a little hesitant to try it, but the white lacquer primer from Testors is on par with Tamiya primer, & you can get it at your local hobby shop.
