  1. If your files get extremely plugged with plastic filings, you can soak them in a solvent like acetone, or MEK, then use a brass wire brush to clean out the teeth if the "gunk" doesn't just fall off in the soak.
  2. I'm gonna go with Real,,MODEL, looks like a 1/8 scaler to me.
  3. WOW! Don't sneeze, or you'll lose one of 'em.
  4. I think that the wheels would look killer if they were done with Testors "Smoke" over the kit chrome.
  5. The carpets in the '57s (if your interior is red) are mainly red, they have a small amount of black threads in the weave, that can be imitated with a little black flock mixed in with your red, you can also use velour (velvet) for carpeting in these if you go one solid color.
  6. "Reclining"?, or "Declining", if you're reclining it might be a bit hard to do some of the things, & your arms will get tired very quick.
  7. They are to real, my wife has hundreds of books about them & the people that have them
  8. It would be much easier to use the JoHan '56 Pontiac for the main body,& either the AMT, or Revell Nomads for the roof,& the Revell chassis with the 'vert crossmember. That's the way I'm going on the one I'm building.
  9. But most of us that have a thing for cute girls on the hods of cars, don't want them painted there .
  10. Really close on this one, but I have to say it's a very well done model, or it's very light on it's feet for a real car.
  11. I don't know if you know or not, but AMT/Round2 is releasing their COT kits in a generic white kit, & if we all ask often enough maybe they'll even change their minds on the full detail glue kits.
  12. Now, THAT is one Haulin' El Camino!
  13. Got the coil wire pulled so no one can steal it?
  14. You're BACK! & in black at that! great build, black is truly one of the hardest colors to get "right" even in full scale. I learned a tip from a "master painter" when I was doing the full size cars that works well on our "babies" not only on black, but best on solids {not metallics/pearls). After you get a good coverage with the main color, make each following coat with more thinner, less color, & add clear, then add the last couple of passes with clear & thinner to get a surface you can polish. This will result in those three foot deep paint jobs, works especially good on Blank & Red.
  15. This would make a great partner for one of Revell's new midget kits.
  16. I'm not sure if it's 1/24 or not, but both of the big Ford pick-ups from Revell/Monogram have the 460 with a C-6 in them.
  17. Use Ford's Wimbledon white, this is available in spray from Testors in their new two stage factory colors.
  18. You can get a little bit more flair with very little extra work, if you first heat the tubing (don't go to hot, aluminum will heat to the point of melting without changing colors)over an open flame first, this softens the aluminum, & makes it easier to stretch out the "bell".
  19. Is that really a wheelchair that is sitting behind the rear cowl? (hint hint)
  20. The "Old" licensing "Bug-a-Boo" strikes again! We lose, unstead of a real deal in a 3 in 1 model, we get a so so 2 in 1.
  21. Not to rain on your great post, you could do it this way, or save some time & buy the pins that Wally World sells for crafting that have a ton of colors, & some clear ones also. I have also seen them at Michaels they come in two different sizes, the smaller size is in the sewing department at Walmart, & the larger sizes are in the crafting area.
  22. Actually the '57 bodies were one inch shorter at the cowl in height, that is why they moved the air inlet for the vents to the front headlight eybrows, there wasn't enough room in the cowl for the vents,& the wiper drives.
  23. Probably flunked this time, but it looks more like a model to me, something about that rope jus' don't look quire right. Forgot to put it in the original post, but I think it might be one of those new 1/6 scale models, thought about gettin' one so I could put in one of those neat "Hot Rod" small block Chevy engines I won a couple of years back.
  24. And the fact that it has a brass tube chassis under it, & it's sitting on a piece of slot car set-up track would be a dead give away that it is indeed a slot car.
