  1. Oh darn! I checked the wrong box. Can I just say that 'cause I checked the real box didn't mean I want to vote that way, I really meant model, but can't seem to type & carry on a conservation at the same time. Switch me to model PLEASE,
  2. I'm really looking, my first real ride was a '56 Chevy Bel-Air sedan originally Plum Rose, 283 Isky cam, four speed,Holley four barrel carb on an Edelbrock C3bx intake. final version was stripped interior, front bumper & grille assy. painted '69 MoPar code f 6 Bright Green Metallic, with fenderwell exit cyclone headers. a true 13 sec. car, five miles to the gallon on the freeway. the girlfriend hated it, she is now the wife of 37 years & wishes she hadn't made me sell it.
  3. And I prefer topless!
  4. Ooo Oooo Iknow, Iknow! but I'm not gonna tell you what, or why na, na, ,,,na, na,,,,,naaa, naaaa.
  5. I know I am really late with this, but for those that might be working on their model right now, make sure that you use approximately the same amount of coats of lacquer paint on both sides of the hood (or other small semi flat parts) or when the paint is done shrinking as it dries it will distort the part & it will no longer fit. I have a really nice looking Ford Pick-up hood that has an indescribable reverse curve to it now, & will not straighten enough to use.
  6. This IS THE kit if you want the much better looking (IMHO) tubular cross member, I have one that is almost complete for a '29 roadster, that I removed all of the kit rear suspension points, except the shock mounts, & used the rear radius rods from the Revell '32 (any of them) & used the shocks from the Revell kit also along with a fabricated panhard bar ala the TLC type you can see in just about any Street Rodder magazine feature that has this style chassis. Keep us updated on your progress.& good luck!
  7. They are a thrill to build, but do have some cool things, if you want to spend some time you can polish out the radius rods, & some of the other things to make a nice looking chassis, & if you're using the Monogram '32 roadster body, it's the only thing out there (to my knowledge) in 1/24th scale that has possibilities.
  8. I was going to suggest that you find one of the superchargers from a "Muscle Machine" & put that under the hood on a platform with it sticking out through a hole in the hood. since you are going with a slight "Fink" thing you might even look for a set of their Pro Street type rear tires & wheels. Just a thought from the Peanut gallery.
  9. CONGRATULATIONS! Grandsons are the best things that have come along since we discovered sex & models. Mine is 19 months old now & is just starting to get the car thing, when he is at Grandpas if a race car comes on TV his head will whip around like it's on a swivel, & he will be very interested for sometimes 3 or 4 minutes (a long time when you're that young). His Mommy (my daughter) called the other night to tell me that they were in the store when he found the toy cars, & was trying to push them around making motor sounds, & he threw a little fit when they didn't get him another one. I hope you enjoy your little bundle as much as the other Grandpa's on here get to. Del
  10. I gotta say Harry, you got quite a few with the flipped negative on this one, it makes it appear as though it's a right hand drive. & those that thought the side glass is black where the mirror is attached are wrong, it's not the glass, it's a small triangular panel at the front of the glass that the mirror is mounted to.
  11. I have to go real on this one, I don't think it is that easy to put carbon fiber decals inside the brake cooling ducts, so it's REAL
  12. I am going to agree, there is just something that's wrong with the piping on the front of the seat, just a little to straight for real leather.
  13. The front bumper is from the AMT snap fast Ranger that was originally molded in Red plastic with white stripes, was a Jairus Watson design
  14. Just got back on the forum, the wifes been in the hospital & in home recovery since a surgery in early May. Thanks for the replies, next year, instead of the Volcano Run, come down the rest of the way to Hotorama, it's the weekend after Kool April Nites, isn't quit as big, a lot better atmosphere, & allows anything in, & has a great Model Car show to boot.
  15. Well, the denatured alcohol worked, it took off everything except the white primer very cleanly, the primer had to be sanded in the large areas anyway, I thought that this might work since years ago I found in a tips section of the old SAE that model airplane fuel would strip paint, but aleft an oily residue ( the Castor oil). And since denatured alcohol is methanol with an additive to keep some of us from drinking it with a good mixer, it should work well. BUT use this in a well ventilated area I was using it in a small closed room, & the next day I had the mother of all headaches, & non of the fun from the evening before.
  16. I didn't realize that the latest release of the '29 had "missing" Ala Kart pieces, but the one thing I did notice was that the parts for the early "banger" hop ups are no longer in the kit, & I have forgot what kit was last produced that did have all of the hop up parts still in it. How about it history buffs what issue still had the four banger trick pieces? Thanks in advance, Del.
  17. I think that on the whole Round2 is doing a great job, but I also have to utter a slight complaint about the molding their kits in color, but I guess that this is a needed concession to those that would only buy a model to put together strictly out of the box without any extra painting at all. I also would like to put in my wishes that they could do more kits like the Starliner, they missed the boat on the '55 Cameo, as this "series" has all of the pieces available to make a great 2 in 1 kit. While I'm at it, since they are digging out all of the great old molds, why not give us a re-release of the original Ala Kart/'29 model A Roadster kit?
  18. I got to go with the crowd on this one, just has that real look, buuuuttt, that's not to say that it couldn't be a "real" model!
  19. Thanks for the updates, I was going to ask about that "Crushed Cars" release. Isn't it Lindberg that plans on releasing the "tanker" trailer? I am looking forward to picking up one to build a Bordens milk tanker for my daughter, she collects "Elsie the Cow" things & has two sets of decals for a 1/25 scale tanker truck. it will go great withe her Bordens milk delivery truck.
  20. Had to go real this time, I think most are assuming that this is the Barney Oldfield racer of old I'm not going to say why I think it isn't but the Detroit modelers might know more about it than us Left coasters
  21. I see that I am not the only one that is going against the majority, but I think that there is something about the grille that just looks model (like not being able to see through it).
  22. The votes runnin' close on this one Harry, but I think I'll go with model. P.S. I think that you were shut out on that last one, but no one would admit to hittin' the wrong box the first time they voted (oops, the only time they voted).
  23. Ever thought about a career in the police ? You might even outshine the great Adrian Monk. LOL
  24. Could it be the backspace on the wheels? I.E. the depth of the tire in the rear wheel opening.
  25. It just seems to scream REAL.
