Many years ago, when I was into collecting the real things, I followed up a lead about an old car in a yard in a town east of here, & when we got there we found a '54 Chrysler with less than 1,000 miles on it the old lady said that it froze up on them on their way back from Los Angeles, & they had it towed home & it had sat there ever since. But the real thing I was going to say this old lady (in her 80s) was operating a small gold mine one her property, & had rigged up a winch to pull mining carts of ore out of the mine by using a '34 Chrysler sedan that had the body removed at the back of the cowl to make it easier to reach the controls, she then jacked up the rear tires & mount an old wheel to one of the rear axles, 7 welded plates on each side to make it so it would resemble a reel, then wrapped a cable around that & ran it into the mine connected to one of the ore carts to pull up the cart when it was full she just put the car into low gear, & let the rear wheel pull the cart to the opening where she would unload it, to let it back she would put the tranny in neutral & pull it back in the mine by herself. This was pretty good for a lady her age, I understand that she actually ran the old mine up until a few months before she died at the age of 94! And no she wouldn't sell any of the remaining cars.

I think a piece of 1/2 round strip between the two pieces of strip on the doors would help.

I know it's a bit off the subject, but I know where one of these chassis is, hanging in a garage, has never been used, it was purchased as a high school project, & never got any further.

Probably wrong, but this looks a lot like the Monogram 1/8 scale kit, so I'll say model. -

Yes that's true, but the price of a gallon of premium gas was less than 50 cents, & a real expensive car was in the neighborhood of $3,000. Unfortunately the cost of plastic has skyrocketed with the price of crude oil, the thing that burns me is they moved the plants to China to save money, & then have to jack up the prices because the cost of shipping has gone out of sight. Bring back the tooling to the U.S. save on the shipping, & put a few of the people that buy the things back to work. this would also help in the lapse time to get something new to the market, because it wouldn't have to go through the shipping channels so much, & wouldn't have to wait on a translator to get the idea across on what is actually being built, as I doubt if the average Chinese worker has ever even heard of a '53 Studebaker, much less know what it is supposed to look like. It is problems like this that give us kits that contain parts for a '70 or '72 GTO when the kit is supposed to be a '67, the crate that the tooling was in was probably labeled GTO, & since no one knew the difference, they just lumped it all together in one poor lump of plastic. -
My first "model" was an old B 52 kit had about 8 pieces not including the stand, the first car that I did was an AMT '59 Impala, just glued the pieces together screwed the chassis on & there it sat until it was turned into a pull toy for stock car racing in the back yard. The next one was another AMT kit, this time the '59 Pontiac Bonneville, this one faired much better it was a model of my neighbors car, & was actually painted to match (with a big old messy brush) & was given away as a present to the neighbor. Still going, 50 years later. (me that is , not the model)

A bit late in finding out about this, is there also going to be a swap meet? Thanks for any replies, Del -
Even the manufacturers got in on this idea, from '36 to '39 Chevrolet offered their Coupes in a Coupe Pickup option, kinda strange, the main difference was where the spare tire was located. In the coupe it was under the floor on a separate shelf, on most of the coupe pick-ups it was in the left front fender. I like your Big p'cup, but most that were built in this style just hacked the body off behind the seats, years ago we cleaned out a farmers field to get the "haytruck" he had, it was a running '33 Chevy four door sedan that had the body removed at the back of the front doors (front doors were gone too) while digging out the blackberries we found a complete '37 Chevy four door sedan also, he threw it in for no charge.

MODEL. I don't think the interior looks right (or left) -
A great picture, 'tis a late teens Dodge, I have a friend that has one that is in complete unrestored condition, & a C cab truck that was highly modified into a roadster, that has won countless awards. The older Chrysler cars aren't as plentiful as Fords are.
-
Or WHO you're playing doctor (or whatever) with I agree, much better now.
-
Gray!? Maybe burgundy ala '40 Fords, but GRAY,? Can't say it'll grow on me, but then,,,,, My guess is it's a real pain to take all the chrome parts off.
-
Am I the only one that noticed the "restoration" under the AMT kit has an alternator? Must have been a "special order" too.
-
I liked the "other" look better, to me this one has that "Donald Duck" look to it, kinda like the car in the old carton that starred him. But that's just my opinion, & you know how they are, everyone's got one.

Use the little 13 inch wheels & tires from any of the lowrider kits/companies, that will put it down there, & is something that is period (Corvair wheels had the same bolt pattern & were used to get down in the weeds without any suspension mods).

You should NEVER say the dreaded word "dust" & paint in the same sentence, 'tis a killing offense in some places.

how to remove masking tape residue
horsepower replied to wgflatliner's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
A little trick from the full size car world, to remove tape residue, spray some WD 40 on a soft rag or tissue then rub the sticky gunk off & wash with warm soapy water. No film left, & won't bother fresh paint, or the plastic either. -
Real or model #117 FINISHED!

Either a really great build, or a clean real one, but I think real. -
I worked in a dismantling yard, & the owner also had a tow company, we picked up a clean '88 turbo coupe as an abandoned vehicle & ended up owning it (the owner never showed up. The boss had a wild hair for something different, & had a body man friend of his take the back half of a '92 Cougar roof (to get the near vertical window) & cut the 'Bird roof at mid door, grafted the pieces together, fabbed a 'glass tonneau cover for the "bed". Voila! Ford Turbochero, different, fun to drive, got lots of looks.

Lindberg '34 Ford 'Custom' Pickup
horsepower replied to Chuck Most's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I like it, that turned out quite nice, just for thought on the next one, the upper"trim?" on the back of the cab is the real difference between a32, & '34 P-cup. Just block it off, & presto change o, instant '32 truck! Also let us know if we can use the rear seat from the sedan as a replacement in the truck. Keep it up, great ideas.
